When I was 35 in 1999, I was a Navy LT leading a SFOR supply convoy from Zagreb to Sarajevo. My driver missed a turn to go to Bosnia when we were still in Croatia and if we kept going east on the road, we would have ended up in Serbia. I immediately ordered the convoy to do a 180 turn, so we wouldn't have an incident. I was worried since I directly participated in the recent Kosovo operation (OP Noble Anvil), the Serbs were going to make stand for war crimes or something and I wasn't going to give them a chance, especially since there was already an incident with a lost patrol going to Serbia earlier that year.
Going to Russia as an American now is just plain stupid unless you have some sort of diplomatic immunity.

I visited a base in South Korea last year. Lots of soldiers score local wives because American soldiers are seen as a step up from the traditional Korean man. The fact that this guy had to settle for a RF gal who couldn’t even maintain residency speaks volumes.
