Many in my father's generation were Vaaranna kids. They had their food in 7 houses in 7 days of a week. They hold enormous gratitude and heights of respects to their families. Many of them have been completely helped for their education costs, living costs when they eventually moved to Hyderabad Bangalore and other places in pursuit of higher education. Many of them have become Civil servants, DGM in SBI LIC ISRO DRDO etc., Society then was so closely knit with profound values which always hit the balance between Capitalism and communism.

We would have done nothing personally to anyone, but we face so much hate as Brahmins in reality. I or brahmins I know never deprived of any dalit or any other community of anything, neither did we think they don't deserve good education or standard of living. Still so much hate and blame is thrown personally to us where ever we go. We face real discrimination in the society tangibly in daily life. They attack our ways, keep giving hostile vibes, try to force us to do things we are uncomfortable like forcing us to eat meat, throwing a piece of meat in my plate at a lunch table, and give excuses for doing these things by saying we have deprived them and treated them badly when I and the Brahmins I know have NEVER done anything like that. What your textbook says or some other brahmin did to you is none of my concern, you deal with them. You have no business to attack my daily living, my supposedly ancestral language (sanskrit), impose meat on me, start derogatory comments and debates that doesn't relate actions that either my family, friends or I have done personally.

      @ Just Abir
Firstly, caste system is of western origin and was gifted to India by Lord Risley, India has the concept of 'Varna' and 'Jaati' which is very different from the caste system. Your pride in your tradition, custom, dignity, culture is that in your 'Jaati' for 'Jaati' system provides for identity feature based on customs, beliefs, geography, food habits, deities, etc. and this is appreciated, one must be proud of one's identity.
The identification of that 'Jaati' as the Brahmin 'Varna' is the Corruption that is being addressed by almost all in the comments under this video for 'Varna' is based on Job description. One's father maybe a trader (Vaishya) but if he becomes a doctor, he is a 'Brahmin' and Varna has nothing to do with Birth, the corruption of the Indian system due to 1000+ years of Invasions and atrocities committed and the failure of our social engineers to address nepotism in contravention of the mode prescribed in the Rig Veda for power, economy and labour distribution has resulted in the sad state of affairs we have devolved to which needs be set right and hence I urge you to educate yourself properly such that we can collectively march towards the inherent greatness of our Civilization.

In 1930 he went to Bangalore with 1 rupee in his pocket all by himself and depended on the good will of people who provided food everyday (sometimes for some chores by the guest). He completed his BSc that way and became an officer. Such good will does not exist in our society today unfortunately.

This is a 2 year old talk. See what is happening at JNU. After standing first among 120 students in SSLC in 1958, I had to work to support myself and my family. I got a job and wanted to join a night college for graduation. There was a college managed by non Brahmins and I was denied admission because of I was a Brahmin. Of course, that did not come in the way of my career which was based on hard work and studies in part time diploma. Absolutely no regrets in being a Brahmin. Today my electrician and AC mechanic are Muslims for many years. Our housemaid has been a Christian for the last 2 years. I don't know whether even God wants to save us.

Dear All, first of all my humble request is that we all should be proud of Indian.
India is the country which is nourished in all fields - kingdoms, democracy, literature, architecture, music, dance, arts, mathematics, astronomy, etc, etc., India is having beutiful rivers, mountains, oceans, etc.etc., India is having so many languages but a common thread of worshing god's, respecting elders, maintaining family bond, etc.,etc.,India's family bonding,..we cannot find this outside India ( But nowadays other countries people also started practicing our lifestyle).. and more interestingly I believe India is only country which gave us great saint like Thiruvalluvar...who has written great "Thirukkural - 1330 two line poemlike "
brilliant literature which says 10 poems in many social behavioral topics. That too around 3000 years back it was written - many vanished - but rescued only 1330 -
when the entire world was living like barbaric way, Thiruvalluvar talks about
Education, governance, friendship, helping others, and specifically about practising Vegetarian foods, etc.,. Likewise there are many works in all indian languages.see the inscriptions on the granite temple walls.
So my point is from ancient times and then from various kingdoms periods, there are different set of people doing different jobs with dedication and lived respecting others.
In vegetables , fruits, trees, animals, there are differences - though they have common structures - their activities, their approach and many aspects have differences - likewise from thousands of years, there are different capabilities are there in human being also - different structure, different colours, different style, different food habits, etc, etc., So all cannot be equal.
Slowly this characteristic and capabilities has been put into caste system.
Many kings kept Brahmins as their advisers as well as priests (bcas of their patience, and many soft characters) bcas kings had other duties like ruling, taxing, fighting enemy countries, etc.,. If Brahmins are that much powerful or superior than others, why kings keeping them nearby. So we should study all these with open mind.
So don't worry about Brahmins and infact if other community support Brahmins and help them to do worshing, Pooja, etc., It will help the entire community.
Nowadays there's no partiality, no casteism in work place, hotels, etc, etc, but individual
keep it in their house only to worship and to respect elders. This will not affect the society. Moreover, Brahmins - though they denied any support from government - are never doing anti national thing, never letdown the language, culture, temples, etc.,but paying tax for the benefit of others, doing good to the society, living simple life without killing animals, birds, etc, for food(few exceptions may be there) can and more importantly not increasing their population.
So kindly avoid hatredness, exchange good things and let us be a good great Indians.
    God Bless all.
And it's true some sect of people have been suppressed by others, not only by Brahmins and it's all gone. Now all are equal

Denial of equal treatment in matter of job s is discrimination for Brahmins. Is this discrimination comparable to an SC being not allowed to draw water from the village well, or an SclC groom not being allowed to ride on horse during marriage? Or is it comparable to outright persecution of the Shudras by forbidding education and priestly occupations/teaching and reading of scriptures and subjecting them to cleaning tiolets. Brahmins can do all the propaganda they want, but no serious, educated person will listen to them until they change their behavior and remove sense of purity/untouchablity from their minds.
Whether should there be reservations or not is a separate issue which should be discussed on its own merits. It can be the pretext for propaganda by Brahmina again.
