Raphnet adapters have long been a go-to solution for connecting guitars and other game controllers to Clone Hero, a popular Guitar Hero clone for PC. However, with the release of newer, more affordable alternatives, the question remains - are Raphnet adapters still the best option for Clone Hero?
The answer to that question in 2023 is no. There are much more affordable and available adapters out there, like my RetroCultMods Wii Guitar adapter.

If this could be made compatible with Xbox 360, or especially the PS2's front USB port somehow), I'd be really interested
It can work on PS2 games when playing GHWT and forward and all Rock Band games when configured for PS3. They can also work on older games (like GH1, 2, 80s, 3) if the PS2 is modded with Free McBoot. Also, they can work on xbox 360 if the console is RGH Modded. All you'd need is a plugin (I don't know how to, but I know it's possible) and configure the adapter as Xinput.

I have a basically brand new PS2 GH3 Kramer that I’ve been dying to try. The strum bar is so crisp compared to my crummy rock band controller
@@codyryan9789 Free McBoot comes with a controller emulator so that you can run any direct input supported controllers as if they were a dualshock 2 controller

Raphnets are so expensive because of the shipping and tax 😭 I just said "f__k it, I'm playing on Bluetooth" and the delay isn't so bad. Feels like a 20ms delay but definitely will be looking into this.

Using a Wiimote has been working fine for me for the past year, other than the fact the driver is unsigned so I have to boot with test-signing off to play Clone Hero. I play pretty high level expert and only have occasional missed notes, however I definitely plan on getting an Arduino instead
I've been dealing wanting to get a new guitar controller and move past playing the games on PS2 and this really made looking for one a hell of a lot easier, you have my thanks friend

This one just cost me less than 20$ including shipping AND I chose the extra option so it would come with the USB cable included. I would say this is the clear better deal
EDIT: I just checked, mine was $16.15 for the adaptor, cable, and shipping. a fraction of the price of a raphnet

Yikes, yeah I can imagine good DDR controllers getting up there due to size and materials. Shipping has got to be a pain as well!
i ordered from you because you seemed to be the trusted brand for clone hero community. my adapter came in the mail after weeks of waiting and it was just the circuit board with the input and output on both ends. works fine but looks super jank
That would be because you ordered the Adapter Only variant, which is cheaper because it comes with the adapter only, no case.
The pictures on both sites clearly show this.
I bought this and it arrived working perfectly. I was looking for raphnet adapters as mine broke and this was amazing. No delay at all, works better than any raphnet would its much cheaper and sent out and arrived fast. This guy also made the order insured which was incredibly nice thanks so much.

Grabbed one immediately after watching, really wanted to support and give it a whirl even tho I just got a new hard wired lp lol. But I still have another lp thats a 3/3 that I want to try to revive! Hopefully the demand for this doesnt get too high as well 😅

@@migsch it's not about that it's better, for playing, it's also about availability, my raphnet cost me over 60€ to get over to germany, and it almost breaking after 3 weeks is pretty much a waste of money for me.

Bought this awhile back for Clone Hero/Yarg and it works great. Glad to see this video came back to my recommended because I guess I must’ve forgotten that it could be used on the ps3. Money well spent!

i got the wii adapter and i have to say works awesome!! already used it on rb4 on my ps5, clone hero, and GHWT:DE and wow such a difference compared to connecting it through bluetooth with a wiimote, not to mention i can use my wii guitar on my ps5 (honestly kinda mind blowing). really looking forward to next paycheck so i can get that solderless kit to make a kramer that stopped working years ago functional again. thank you so much for your work!!!

I ALMOST bought a raphnet, but I saw the price and was like... "That's more than the control!" So for rn, I'm stuck with my keyboard, lol.
I've been holding it upside down and using 1-5 for the strings and using the up & down arrow keys for the strum.
Nothing wrong with going with the old Frets on Fire method!

Got one of these a couple of weeks ago, great purchase! The added cable is extremely high quality, the 3d printed case is pretty nice and it was really easy getting it to work on mac.

Just got mine a couple days ago. $12 each and took a week (about 9ish days), to get to me. INCREDIBLE DEVICE. Got some stickers on the packaging, and it’s truly plug and play. It is an extremely tight fit so don’t be scared to really work it in. Overall 10/10 device would recommend to everyone!⭐️⭐️⭐️
just snagged one, I used to just go wireless with my pc, its so old I don't use it. but I wanna play clone hero on MacBook instead. being able to config it to PS systems sounds like a huge bonus.

I have a Raphnet, it works fine and what you say on this short is totally true. Very expensive. So I just ordered the V3 with Tilt of this adapter. let's give it a try and keep it for backup

I got so lucky when I bought my Raphnet 5 years ago, before they got stupid expensive. If mine ever breaks (it’s been 5 years, I’m surprised it even works today) I’ll 100% be picking one of these up.

I just ordered! I’m super excited. I’ve been using a very very old armor adapter that it’s very cheap and not super responsive. The adapter I’m using isn’t even sold anymore 😭. I've had my V3 for almost a month and it has worked flawlessly so far! Nice braided 10ft cable for $4 extra totaling about $20 bucks. Plug and play for Clone hero on Windows 10, no setup needed.

ok, i need a bit of help. On the main menu, this adapter is opening the control setup menu. I then can't move my mouse because the whammy bar moves the mouse. Is there any way to change whatever these inputs are into NOT spacebar and mouse?
Make sure Steam is completely closed; sometimes it tried to remap the controller automatically.

Been using it for more than 6 months now and I gotta say it, its the best. Used it in my pc for both clone hero and yarg and checked out the software so i could make it compatible with a ps3 and it worked flawlessly there too. 10/10
So the description says it's only for red octane guitars. Can you expand on that please
Sure! It will only work with official Wii Guitars that have the Guitar Hero logo stamped on the back of the body, along with a Red Octane sticker in the Wii remote slot!
There are several third party, non official guitars being sold online that look identical to official guitars from the front that do NOT work with my adapter, and are of dubious build quality.
These knockoffs have lead to some confusion and I've had a few customers try and use them with these third party guitars, only for it to not work, which isn't fun at all. Just want to give everyone a heads up before buying!

Bought 2 raphnets with week or less shipping for like, 54 dollars and somw change from their site. But ill definitely buy one of these incase mine does ever go out or, god forbid, the cats somehow get ahold of them. Like how it slides in the back. Id like to see a custom back for the guitar with a slit for the cords. But either way, good product, will buy
