    Hey Nick , your shelf arrangement is 100% improved. I've been binge watching your videos, acquiring way too many plants and loving it. And love that cutie Muffin, since I lost my Coco who was a twin to her. Keep up the great work!

    Hi! I have a hastatum, and a trick that really works for me is keeping it in water (and fertilizing). The growth rate is much higher, than in my mom's plant in soil. Some of the newer leaves even have developed the sword shape! I'm now looking into ways of supporting it, so the leaves don't become smaller :)

    • @JennaGeah
      @JennaGeah Před 2 lety

      Came here to say something similar -- struggled with my silver sword until I put it in leca as a last ditch reprop option, and it freaking loves it. Keep it in my south facing kitchen window, but I'm in Australia so that's not direct light haha

    Honestly, you could do a plant tour whispered or soft spoken for ASMR enjoyers and put all of us to bed.

It’s a gorgeous plant on just dry air humidity.. but my philodendron Brandi is completely STUNTED!! Idk what I’ve done wrong with it. Everything next to it have grown tremendously. Maybe move the plants and find a better place for them.. sorry for the babble..

    Hi Nick! You have a very impressive collection of philodendrons and syngonium. I'm always amazed to see your syngoniums without the lobes. They look more like philodendrons. I really enjoy your videos where you walk around and show us your plants. The sit down ones are nice, too, but like seeing your apartment, too. I really like all of the different shelves that you have for displaying your plants. The trellis's are nice, too. You've done a great job decorating your apartment. Love your relaxing commentary! My silver sword is right in my south facing window and loves high light. I never acclimated it juststuck it there cuz it fit. I do have high humidity but the leaves are really bright silver and small tight internodes. None of those sun spots or crisping.

    My Silver Sword has grown from having only four leaves to being nearly two feet tall in about ten months. I have it staked up directly in a west facing window and it’s only about two feet away from my humidifier. Those two things are the keys to the success.

    Great vid, I’ve always loved outdoor landscaping, but I’m renting and can’t do that much here, so I have started to try houseplants, and have a few that will hopefully take root in water.
    I wish I could post a pic of this vine I found growing that I think would be a philodendron because it has sword shaped leaves, but I know that really doesn’t matter much.
    It also has thorns on it, but I’m wanting to dig a couple up and see if I can get them to grow in just water.
    I’m also trying to reach out to others in my community and try to get a cutting exchange going. After watching your vid about how high some prices are and then finding the VICE clip on the plant that sold for like $13,000 is insane.
    But even here in Florida where there’s snake plants, Ty, and many many other plants that grow wild but sold as houseplants still in Home Depot, Lowes, Walmarts, etc, and people buy them when they could get them free or a lot cheaper from a nursery.

    12:28 is a Philodendron subg. Philodendron species, confirmed by the presence of cataphylls (which a Syngonium would lack). Possibly Philodendron sp. Costa Rica, a close relative to P. tripartitum and commonly used in the terrarium hobby.

    I've had a similar struggle with the Philo.hastatum. Definitely had a stick out of the pot for a month or two. I'd recommend to just stick with it, seems like it just hated the change of environment from plant shop to home.

    Wow, awesome stuff… and thanks, now I know the name of my neighbor’s MONSTER vine down the street - syngonium auritum. Damn, it’s been bugging me. I thought it was S. neglectum, or something plain green, with the odd-numbered lobes. But it’s most def S. auritum, and wow; it grows over 10 feet long, by as high! At least outside here in San Diego, it does.. my neighbor has it in like 90% shade, although it faces South/SW. Dappled late afternoon light, but it’s negligible. It’s under some huge magnolia trees. This vine is basically crawling & spilling over their 8-foot fence, & going all the way down their block. It’s even mixed in with pothos, platycerium (mounted to the fence); even Philodendron Burle Marx, going crazy outdoors.
    Side note: Yall already know this probably, but I digress. If you can get Burle Marx (or any aroid vine) to climb, or be supported somehow, the leaves become almost…. Melanochrysum-ish? Warocqueanum-esque?? lol, Mature form, I guess. They change shape quite a bit, some of the leaves are over 12” long.
