New BOSCH Starter www.ebay.com/itm/333875994955
Hey guys, in this video I'll show how to replace a starter on your 2007-2010 BMW X5 with N52 engine (3.0i, 3.0si, xdrive30i). Also we will find out if the cheapest E70 X5 will start and is there any hidden issues.
Thank you for watching - Auta a dopravní prostředky
Thanks! Got my daughters car up and running myself because of this video!!
Happy to help👍
Thanks Tim for all that you do 🙏. I just replaced my starter as a proactive maintenance item for my 2009 X5 along with the valve cover, thermostat, water pump, and many other items. I dont know if you remember, but i called you to help me identify an AC leak on the same car about a couple weeks ago. The mechanics at BMW said they were fairly certain it was the evaporator, but they needed like $400 more to diagnose on top of the $225 I paid already. You informed me that 90% of the time, leaks are caused by the a/c compressor; I ended up swapping out the compressor, pulled a vacuum, and the leak was gone! Your knowledge about BMWs is second to none, and I love how you share your knowledge with the community of garage mechanics like me!
Happy to help, keep it running🙌👍
Great video. Glad to see her running again. Looking forward to more on this old X5. 👍
Thank you, next week there is gonna be another video on this one😉
Another great DIY video on this BMW. This procedure would be almost the same as our E83 ('07) X3 with the same N52 engine. Thanks so much for posting this. Can't wait for the others to follow. So, greeting from WNC from another bimmer nut.
Thank you appreciate your feedback 🙌
Very good video, helped me no end in doing this. Although I made life difficult for myself & removed the crank position sensor connector, which I then forgot to reconnect. Luckily managed to get it back on by feel with the manifold in place & just the plastic inlet hoses removed..😀👍
Thanks so much you made this way easier
Happy to help🙌
Hey Man!Congraulations,it was the starter issue after all! sounds great! ticking for a minute! no big deal, for years of laying no started! check the oil status and if all looks ok ,oil change to new oil!! Great Work!sweeeet 100-100 ty
Yep, a couple more videos coming up with this one and then it will begone😁
thank, you save me $600 from a bmw auto shop to put in a starter, very easy from you
Glad to hear it, that’s what im here for👍
Very helpfull,i will get started soon i hope😂
Thanks for sharing, really good work.
Love this series! I have the same X5. I’m going to learn a lot from it. Replaced the valve cover last weekend. Hopefully you do a front struct assembly video on this X5. Its my next task.
Thank you, hopefully I don’t have to do front strut assembly replacement😂😂 but sure if it ever comes up we’ll shoot it😉
@@Zeiten Previously owner had the struts in the front replaced, they didn't change out those orange donut strut supports or the bump stops . Ended up having to replace ALL the control arms.
Excellent video. Thanks
🙌
by your video, i can DIY the starter as well. Good
That was awesome thank you.
🙌
Great channel, keep it up. You seem to have a lot of expertise in the X5 models. Can you answer a question about transmission drain fill? On some models there seem to be several sleeves that need to be replaced between the ZF Mechatronic unit and the transmission. For my 2013 E70 N55 xDrive35i places like FCP Euro and others don't show any valve body seals. Other than the Mechatronic Connector Sealing Sleeve are there any other tubes or sleeves required for the job?
Hi, thank you, check out this video czcams.com/video/HZRNKtapQYk/video.html your transmission will need all those seals, solenoids replacement is not necessary
Good idea to start the car without draining and replacing the engine oil and the fuel after such a long time!!
Doesn’t matter at all
You’re right! Old oil, dirty, grit, can damage the engine.
That’s why I do my own repair. Garages don’t care, they don’t care.
Good job Tim $2k is very cheap and just add a new starter is a win win, don't forget to pump up that flat tyre haha..FYI My E53 30D is running like a clock , l love driving in the country tracks it's a lot of fun and comfy ..Stay well mate and don't catch the Monkey Virus LOL Cheers Pete from Australia👍
Well more work has been done to it, final video coming soon
Got recommended video and then guess what? Starter blows out lol now I’m going to replace it. I also saw other CZcams videos they didn’t remove a lot of things that you’re removing, is it necessary to remove everything and disconnect? thanks for your videos man
Well it might seem that less stuff you remove easier the job is but that is just wrong, clearer the way for replacement part the easier and faster job gets
Hand crank it couple rounds first, right, to make sure engine is not seized? Then clean up (vacuum and/or blow) all the leaves before taking the intake out. Test the white wire for 12V with before taking the starter out. Good idea to pour in some fuel treatment for the 2-year old fuel. Might be good idea to squeeze some oil into each cylinder before starting in case the wall too dry.
Yes, yes and yes!
That’s why I do my own repair. Garages don’t care, they don’t care.
Hi there. I've watched quite a few of your videos and they really helped me to keep my son's e90 in good shape. I've also replaced the fuel pump and valve cover gasket on our e70 X5 as well thanks to your videos. I had a question for you on the starter. My son is away at school and he thinks the starter is gone. Obviously the car won't start, he thinks he hears a click, but he can't put it into gear. So he manually put it into neutral so that he could park it. Because of the fact that he couldn't put it into gear, I think it's a problem with the immobilizer CAS. He doesn't have a code reader with him, but I'm just wondering if you think the car should have gone into neutral in the ON position. I mean the starter shouldn't prevent the car from switching gears, don't you think? However, the steering wheel wasn't locked and he was able to turn it, so I'm not sure what to think. Any advice? Thanks again.
Replace the starter, everything will be fine you are looking for problem where there is none
Did you torque the intake manifold or did you just snug it?
Can you video for a 4.8
E70 x5 please .
The link you put on Ebay is missing!
I have a bmw X5 that got struck by lightning… when it first happened everything was flashing and alarm system went off, now it won’t start or even crank. The lights on the dash come on for a second when battery is connected and then the whole dash goes black.. could it be the BCM or DME
Please help
Hi bro do sell such parts for 2009 x3 2.5 si
I have 2010 535i xDrive and starter bolt on transmission side is E14. 11mm open wrench doesn’t work and so I tried a swivel ratchet with E14 socket. Do you ever experience very stubborn bolts like this? I tried WD-40 and it still won’t come off. The swivel ratchet is 72 tooth and maybe I need 90 tooth
You have n54 engine the bolt is e12 there as far as i remember and yes 11mm won’t work in that case (it only works for n51/52 engines) i still remove it same way you just need a proper wrench and breaker bar to loosen it
I changed the starter and after that the truck shakes weirdly like a misfire, do you think it is a vacuum leak? Everything was put back properly and the gaskets were good. I saw it could be spark plugs but I changed those last year and it wasn’t shaking like that. Have you ever changed a starter and then after it starts it shakes for 10 sec then it goes away
Impossible to diagnose remotely, the most common thing people forget to plug in is pcv hose that goes to valve cover and purge valve hose that is behind throttle body, if it wasn’t there before most likely you forgot something or didn’t plug in fully although might be a coincidence like one of the vanos solenoids failure since it goes away that what i be looking at but trouble codes would be nice to have otherwise it’s just pointing in the dark
hey Tim. Does it ever rain there??
Hey, not often but yes it does😁
I changed my starter on my e70 now I'm getting misfire on cylinders 1 and 2 and ejector circuit failure on ejectors 1 and 2. I don't know why.
Fuel injection cut off is commonly appears when there is a misfire, check all your connections, it could be just a coincidence and either coil #1 or 2 failed
@Zeiten I figured it out. Some of the pins in one of the connections on the intake manifold were bent to the side of the housing and not going into the pin holes. Thanks for your help
My bmw.e70 e70 push start no crank I hear a click sound at front and a lot of codes showing on my dash.
95% chance starter failed
Thanks, Zeiten ill keep you updated 🙏
@Zeiten thanks zeiten it's work almost throwing the towel. It's a big relief.Took me 2 days checking also all the wires and fuses. Thanks alot for the tip.YOUR THE 👨
Happy to help👍
How to contact this guy , I need mechanic to my bmw it’s no starter . I live San Francisco California.
We service Los Angeles only
@@Zeiten thanks for responding me you are the best.
@walterserrano4930 👍
I have a question, where’s located the glows module in this vehicle 🚗. Please 🙏 answer my question.
You don’t know how to test the starter manually to check if it’s bad or not? Look it up, you can give it power to see if it spins or seized or burned!
