I have a dog poo composting system. In the very bottom, I have a layer of sand... and on top of that is rocks. I tested the site by dumping a certain amount of water into the hole.... a long as the water drains within 24-48 hours.... the hole will work for the septic/ composting system. As long as the dog poo thing is set up properly and maintained properly.... there is no odor..... the water doesn't stay pooled in the tank... and the poo breaks down properly and then leaches through the rocks/sand and the earth. I personally love my dog waste system (doggie dooley) and I'm so thankful to have it after 2 years of use 🤗✌️🐕🐾

I can't get to your website. Do you have a video on how to do the shelf?? It's a brilliant video and we have been trying the garbage can system, but like you said - it turns to mush and doesn't break down even with organic compounds.

Please tell me what do you think about the septic tanks that leave a good amount of water in the bottom and add some microbacterias and the outlet is some inches above the water

Can I use gravel as my shelf? and if so, should I put a mesh screen over it?

I have a home composting system and my experience is that the red worms hate water. Do we have to make these systems sealed so it does not get any rain if it is outdoors?

This is fascinating, and it gives me a lot of ideas on solutions to keeping the yard clean. Thank you for the excellent explanations! I do have one question. As I was looking more into how to make something like this, I ran into one bit of advice that suggested monthly heartworm preventative medication, such as Heartgard, would kill even these red worms as they eat the waste. I am having trouble even finding the right wording to look up more information on that. Is this something you have seen or experienced?

I did find something on this but, of course, I’m not able to find it again. Basically, don’t add the poop for approximately 48 hrs after administering medication then the level of dewormer is low enough that it won’t kill worms and microbes.

Unless one's in a very high mosquito area good vets don't advise poisoning your pet monthly. It's use is pushed by the insanely corrupt pharmaceutical industry.

My concern is that the worms wont be able to keep up with daily poops from 3 dogs and before you know it, you have a container full of poop that is barely being processed

Worm bins still need emptying from experience from composing with worms. I would think it would be better for the worms to be able to come and go if they are happy to eat the poo

Hi, it's a great idea. How much worms do you need to process the poop of a large labrador who does it twice a day? And what should be the size of the tank itself for it to not ever being full and that the worms are able to process the poop at the speed enough for it never being full? Thanks.

Nah mate, Sunday is the FIRST day of the week! Look at a calendar.

    • @libbyblue62

Many UK calenders do start on Monday. Sunday isn't the first day of the week in all areas. Monday is the first day in most of europe. Sunday became the first day in many places due to religion. But Saturday and Sunday being the weekEND is in reference to the week starting with Monday.

I'm pretty sure if you search what day is the first day of the week it'll say Monday off the bat. But places like the US are just different

On ne trouve rien du tout au lien mentionné ! Les vers rouges ne vont pas survivre si ça devient très chaud dans le contenant.

Why not make an actual septic tank for dogs? You've described a vermicompost bin.
