- DIY Dog waste Digester. This video demonstrates how to build your own low cost, eco friendly 5 gallon (or larger) bucket dog waste digester. The video is a little long, so feel free to speed it up.

Thanks for posting this! I built the other style tank that you discuss, and it just doesn’t work for me. The water and enzymes drain through too quickly, so there is no breaking down of the solid waste. What I have is a five gallon bucket filled to capacity with dog poop. I’ll keep adding water and enzymes to get rid of the contents, but I can’t add any more solids to this tank. I will build another tank with the overflow tube - that is essentially how domestic septic systems are designed.
Thank you so much for this video! I was wondering why you chose this way, and was very pleased that you explained it at the end, because most of the videos I found was with the holes and compost. I’m not really handy, but I think I will try to make it.
Thank you.I just posted a new video. It's the 8 month update. The link is at the end of this video. Thanks for watching!
How can I make this an above ground version. I’m renting a house and my landlord would probably loose her shit if I dug a hole. She’s a real piece of work 😂😂😂
Thank you 🙏🏻, but if you go with a bigger than a bucket, your over Flo tube would have to be longer to come up to 3 or 4” from top ? Correct?
Take a shot every time he says poop.
That'll make two of us. 😏
“It was fun said no one ever!” 😂 Thank you for the wonderful tutorial! Gonna attempt to do this!!
You're welcome Donna! Hey, you should probably check out the other follow up videos as well however. I had clay soil and it didn't work out for me due to that. It's success or failure will depend on your soil type. Thank you and good luck! :)
great job. this will work. I will build one this spring with the addition of an elbow/baffle or maybe just a screen to stop waste or grass from going down the overflow. Just look up septic baffle if you'r not sure what I mean. Other than that, perfect and thanks.
Nice! I hope it works for you. Let me know how it goes. You hopefully have better soil (not clay like mine).
Whatnis your "yard" made up of? Our dogs wrestle and play so much that they have ruined the lawn.
Time for an update, it is killing me to find out if it works just like a real septic tank for a house. Could work for 50yrs
An update is coming soon. Just watching to see how it performs over the winter.
Hi JW. I posted an update a couple days ago. Please find the link at the end of this video. Thanks for watching!
Seems like a way to make it more stinky to me. The ground dissolve method works just fine.
Whatever works for you is great. I think it just depends on your soil type. Glad you have a system that works.

Okay, but for this to work, for the waste to filter into the ground, the water level will have to be higher than the top of the pipe, right?
Correct. You add water about a gallon or more at a time per day so it overflows into the leach field/ ground.
might want to add some screws for something at the top of the pipe to unscrew and remove water when the time comes to clean out the bucket.
Not a bad idea. I gave up on this system due to my soil type. Clay does not play nice with any of these systems. Now we know :) .
So what system do you do now? @@lifeisrandom23
So any update on this new system
Hi Adrian. Perfect timing. I just posted a one month update. Check it out. So far so good!
I'll just throw dog shit in the garbage. But I did do something like this for my dishwasher
