  • This is my first composition for full orchestra. It was inspired by a once in a lifetime expedition to Antarctica, and expresses God's peace, beauty, and adventure. Fournier Bay was our last stop, and it was one of the most glorious days I have ever seen. Every view was filled with God's splendor and majesty, and was a symbol of God's extravagant love toward us. I hope this creates a "God Encounter" for you like it did for me, and you sense His amazing grace and love for you. "The breath of God produces ice, and the broad waters become frozen" (Job 37.10). "The amazing grace of the Master, Jesus Christ, the extravagant love of God, the intimate friendship of the Holy Spirit, be with all of you" (2 Corinthians 13.14).

Beautiful and powerful. I could feel God's presence while watching and listening to this. People who think it is okay to drill for oil in the arctic must watch this, to be woken up!

Hi Stanton...If you don't mind my asking, did you personally do all the orchestral scoring? Just wondering since obviously it takes a good bit of familiarity with the various transpositions across both the winds and strings, e.g. the most common instruments pitched primarily in C, Bb, Eb, and F. Even more complex if adding parts such lesser-used transpositions (Clarinet in A, etc.). Then, of course, you've got the viola written in alto clef.
Anyway, thanks for sharing this. Isn't Antarctica an amazing place? I had the good fortune to be able to go there 2 years ago - a most humbling and inspiring destination to be sure. God's peace and grace to you as you continue your music ministry.....

Hello KS, thanks for your comments. Yes, I did all the orchestral scoring, which features several transposing instruments. This year I am taking courses at the Berklee School of Music in Composing and Orchestrating for Film and TV. I didn't know this would happen the way it did, but this composition, recording and the full ten-page conductor's transposed score were all inspired and created from mid June to mid July as part of my Orchestration 2 class final project.

Wow! I've so enjoyed your musical progression over the past several years. Now that you've gone this direction, do you yearn to do more orchestral pieces? Will piano/keyboard still be your favorite?

Hi Tamara, thanks so much for your encouraging words! Composing for orchestra is only an expansion of my work and not a new direction. My new Christmas album "December Peace II" coming Nov. 5th will feature intimate piano solos and gentle duets and trios.

Dear ElinLinda, thank you so much for your support! And for your interest in the orchestral score. This was my first orchestral work, and I do have the full conductor score, and for all orchestra sections and parts. Can you please contact me through my website stantonlanier.com and reference this? I look forward to hearing from you, and to discussing more details. Thanks again!
