      You can always use the sony teleconverter to convert your 70-200 to 140-400😊

      @@robertdoyle8972 don't get the teleconverter. image quality drastically drops when you add a teleconverter, and the aberration is horrible.

    In what situation would you need to change aperture in middle of recording a video?

    • @jft2nd
      @jft2nd Před 6 měsíci

      I look at aperture as a way to get a full view vs a single view. What I mean by this is if I'm focusing on a single subject, my aperture isn't going above f2.8 but if I want to show a full area or landscape I raise the aperture to 5.6 and above.

    • @sebastianFZE
      @sebastianFZE Před 3 měsíci

      If you are recording a long take and the lighting changes (for instance the sun comes from behind the clouds)
      Yet you want to maintain correct exposure, you could increase aperture subtlety

    • @JaySea
      @JaySea Před 3 měsíci +1

      @@sebastianFZE Wouldnt it be better to crank shutter in that situation?

    • @sebastianFZE
      @sebastianFZE Před 3 měsíci

      @@JaySea Generally, when filming you'd want your shutter angle to be 180°. So changing that would alter the motion blur of the image. Although you could get away with it if the subject in frame is not moving.

    • @mchwmedia
      @mchwmedia Před měsícem

      @sebastianFZE Wouldn't it work the same if you just change the aperture on the camera body? Or does that not make sense for video? Sorry for the ignorance, I just shoot photo atm 😅

    Can you do a review on a lenscoat for this lens? I have the gm ii and because it’s so expensive I’m doubting on investing in a lenscoat. Since I shoot music, I don’t want beer or drinks on my lens

  • @theendangeredpetrolhead
    @theendangeredpetrolhead Před 6 měsíci +1

    I still cannot understand the $2800 price tag… someone has to explain to me why anyone would even consider this when you could buy the 70-180 Tamron or Sigma 70-200 for under $1500, both at the same 2.8 aperture

    • @pngexportimport
      @pngexportimport Před 5 měsíci

      Does it work well?

    • @theendangeredpetrolhead
      @theendangeredpetrolhead Před 5 měsíci

      @@pngexportimport do those other lenses work well you mean? Absolutely, the Sigma is better in the sense that it has MF/AF switch and other button/switch controls… and you save $1300.

    • @duvalpenny100
      @duvalpenny100 Před 5 měsíci

      AF works a lot better with the native lenses. Also, 3rd party lenses are capped at 15 frames a second so if you have a 30+ fps camera and shoot sports or wildlife professionally the GM would be a no brainer.
      But despite costing twice as much the GM is not twice as good. It's for people who want that 10% better performance.
      Also, the Sony lense is teleconverter compatible. That could be a game changer.

    • @theendangeredpetrolhead
      @theendangeredpetrolhead Před 5 měsíci

      @@duvalpenny100 There are literally only two full frame Sony models that shoot over 15 fps, the A9 and A1. Every other pro Sony model shoots 10 or 11 fps. My A7 IV shoots 11 fps and although I wish it was a bit faster, I’ve still been able to get amazing sports and wildlife shots. I understand the benefits of native lenses, but not enough to justify an extra $1300. For the vast majority of even pro photographers it’s not worth it to me

    • @duvalpenny100
      @duvalpenny100 Před 5 měsíci

      @@theendangeredpetrolhead yeah but "worth" is relative to each individual. For most it's not worth it, for some it absolutely is. Those with A1s and A9s that shoot sports professionally are definitely going to want the Sony.
      One of the bigger reasons to choose Sony over the Tamron that doesn't get talked about enough is the ability to hold focus while zooming (I'm not sure if the Sigma can do this). The Tamron drops focus while zooming and only focuses after you're done zooming since it's not parfocal. For this reason I wouldn't get it for sports.
