For those of you who are just getting some of the wisdom from this brother don't stop with ' secrets ' go back and study all his work. May almighty God be pleased with his efforts of good.
Go back and study all of "their" work. Brian Jackson was the catalyst to Gil's best work.
Details on life and thank m
But secrets is deff one of his better albums thanks to Brian jackson
I've been with him since 1970. Seen him numerous times. These were the days before drugs devastated the black mind. The sounds of freedom, betterment and good old socia consciousness filled the air. The difference in the black mind from then to now is very clear.
There is no God. Gil is further proof of that fact. Grow up.
I bought this album when it came out. I don't have the vinyl anymore, but I still listen to this jam frequently. 🎉

"If you could help someone, why wouldn't you?" Probably the single most important and profound statement to come from this great man and one we should all live by. There will always be struggles in life for everyone but if we just helped each other along the way this would be a much better place. I think it's a message worth sharing.
THE BEST 👌 !
You sho is right my man... Love is the key bro
No comments?!!? Ok gsh, my favorite artist, He's like roger waters from Harlem. Brian Jackson? Like a free George Jackson with a beat. The combo? Unbeatable. Back when things were bad but there was hope. Now things are a bit more comfortable, but we've lost our hope, our proletarian revolutionary spirit was drowned in crack-capitalism and the opioid crises. Jumkies, crackheads, and hustlers can't be effective revolutionaries. They can preach, and they can run and hide and go to jail.
Damn ... Profound ...
I've seen statistics indicating that the income level of Black Americans in terms of real purchasing power has not improved since this was recorded or even since the sixties. When MLK said black people got their gains at a bargain price in the sixties and that the future issues would actually cost America money in terms of improving socioeconomic conditions, America took one look at that and said, "Nah."
I grew up listening to this knowledgeable brothers' messages.Helped me through some rough times. His lyrics are wisdom for the Ages.Thank you,Sir.✊🏿
Here is a brother who tried so hard to wake up all those brain dead brothers, seems as it might be working now 2021,gone but still here

Thank for Every LP or Album s 💿 Cd😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄
To see him in concert was ELECTRIC
If you feel comfortable, please share your experience! I've seen some live footage and can tell the atmosphere was otherworldly.
Absolutely!
You are so very lucky. He would be in my top 5 list to see live
An artist of gigantic proportions who could communicate with words and music on a higher and deeper level about conditions of our country and African Americans as well. He warned us about things and situations to avoid, but it seemed in the end he struggled with those same issues. He left a song that I use daily in my life “ A Lovely Day “. “ May God Bless His Soul. “
Saw an article on the collaboration of Brian Jackson with a reggae band for a tribute to GSH. Would have been even nicer had it been done while the Genius was still alive!
Your words were so beautiful. Gil Scott-Heron is the one. I love. a Lovely Day as well. Thank you for your words.
Lost my VINYL years ago and have scoured (yea, with steel wool) the world for a
digital facsimile. FREAKIN' FINALLY! Amazing music.
I know the feeling I started crying when I picked up my Vinyl album
Pure Genius!!!!
I'm crying as I read these replies. I LOVE Gill Scott Heron. I have never been a concert/club goer, but I saw him about 6 times in my early 20's. I saw him mainly doing lectures at nearby universities. He had a huge impact on me.
Thank you.
True. Also, It’s Your World, the two record studio and live album. One of my favorites. I wonder if these two, which don’t show up in streaming, have some licensing issues explaining their absences? Were they both Elektra label? I know World was.
I saw the great man play in a pub in Camden Town London - I was literally 4 or 5 feet from him & his keyboards & the rest of the band. What a great night!
Peace go with you, brothers.
This takes me way back. Great poet
I NOW HAVE THIS ALBUM
The best of the my brother late Paul Ikhamate Ugiomoh taught me how to listen and appreciate good music. Gil I love your inspiring lyrics but the Almighty loves you most. Keep on resting in peace in the bossom of the Lord. And may the Lord have mercy on you and the souls of other faithful departed rest in the bossom of God. Gil Scott Heron my late inspiratory and mentor I love you, your messages and everything about you. Most especially the revolutionary and freedom lyrical renditions. I love you Gil rest in peace. In Jesus Christ precious and mighty name l pray amen.
This is my favorite album cover from Gil Scott Heron because I like to think that he just wanted to share with the world a photo of his kitty.
More so than the great photo of Gil and his adorable baby daughter on the cover of Real Eyes?
Cats > kids
there's an additional dimension insofar as, with the original vinyl, the internal ring of the record imprints a circle that perfectly frames the cat's right-hand eye; what a magical gesture in presenting the cat as a true sphinx guarding the "secrets" of this world!
Great Album. RIP Genius Gil.
Pure goodness. Thank you for sharing this - the world needs it more than ever.
A marvelous and strongly credible album of the time, and continues to speak until this day the truth of our oppressed conditions. Brian Jackson and Gil Scott- Heron, a dynamic Duo !!!
The lyrics, stories, melodies , arrangements and improvisations are inspirational and thought provoking !!!
Happy birthday Gil Scott a true legend and hidden gem

Wow!!! Thanks for sharing this. I used to listen to it on the regular with my guy can’t download it and can’t afford the 65$
Excente pieza. 👌
Electric Soul - Funk
God the keys on better days ahead is so good
23:47 Love this song
this album gets excluded from the Gil Scott-Heron convo and I'm not really sure why, it's so good. near-perfect.
yeah i love the whole vibe of this album . i really love these slower and mid tempo jazzy but also almost minimalistic tracks. Gil sounds fucking great over those tracks.
My late husband was the engineer. It’s an awesome record.♥️
It’s ultimately my favorite album from Gil.

It's not on Spotify for some reason, but many of his other albums are. People might have less exposure to it these days for that reason, perhaps
15:45 favorite song off the album

I don't know man, as a bass player, I always come back to this album for the first song. Angel dust... I know that bassline from "the coup" - me and Jesus the pimp in a 79 Granada last night" perfect use of it in a rap song

💛💜🧡♥💚💚💙
This brother was a soldier when being a soldier was a death sentence.
Always has been one of my favorite albums from Gil also Pieces of a Man & Winter in America Giland Brian Jackson. Then there's not a lot from Gil I don't like. Just listening to him without any music was very special.
The video Gil did in Wash.,DC walking around parts of the city that's playing on Tubi was the best, Gil and the Midnight Band at their best.
winter in America
Gil’s best album. Better days ahead is such a fucking masterpiece. Such a cry fest
Everything Gil sang about was either going on or it came to pass.
A Legend against Covid19!!!

😮😮😮
What must Gil have thought about the word 'goddamn' being censored? Was the US really that prudish, even in 1980?
🤣 Is that what it was? I wasn't familiar with the song so I assumed it was something stronger...
I mean Nina Simone got away with 'Mississippi Goddamn' years before that so I don't know, maybe the record company were just being cautious.
Would love to know if there's an uncensored studio version anywhere as it's a great song and still very relevant...
(9)..✔️🙂
