i explained practical How to repair computer ATX switch mode power supply. this PSU had no output on STBY +5V standby missing, short circuit in input section, the fuse burnt out. i replaced the standby section wit a buck converter
i shared my easy and perfect troubleshooting technique to repair computer AT or ATX power supply, i found rectifier diodes, fuse, power transistor, diodes in standby inverter section. smps concept and troubleshooting repairing or understanding repair switching mode power supply basics and working principle. how to troubleshoot input electromagnet induction filter, EMI, bridge rectifier and capacitor. we get 330 VDC at main capacitor. after hat the +330 volts are applied to standby power, which is SMPS and makes +5V SB, these stand by voltage are applied to motherboard which pull down the PS ON green wire to zero level, so the ENABLE OR REMOTE ON or CONTROL pin of #smps will go low that will enable pulse width modulation. and also i discussed smps basics. after watching this video you can capable to:-

hi friend.. smart idea...friend I found my lcd problem ..back light led was deflected ...but I found feeding voltage to led is 150v. dc ...is this normal or to high cause led to deflect

Hello sir, in other video you said standby transformer give 2 power, 5v and 9-12v, then 9-12v use for signal tranformer. Why in this video you only replace with 5v adapter ? So how to give 9-12v for signal transformer to work ? How much power for signal transformer need ? Can it work with 5v ?

Hi, I'm trying to repair my 450w ATX, 5vsb was good and noting shorted but it just can't start up, it use WT7527 , TNY277, UC38438 and LM339 IC, all capacitors, transistors, IC, diodes were checked good, WT7527 on PGI and PGO have no power, VCC have 4.5v. but one of the diode SBR20100 if using ohm meter to check is only 300ohm, I wonder will it caused the problem. BTW it's just my hobby to repair non working things. : )
@HaseebElectronics LOL... Why didn't rebuild the traces using copper wire/soldering wick and fix that standby section? Even if transformer is shot, you can easyly open it using a heatgun/hotair or simply throw it into boiling water, and simply rewind it!, eventualny salavage simillar transfromer from other SMPS and just replace it...

This last week I bought a switch mode power supply for a PC of type: BEBIBOS POWER SUPPLY ATX 12V V2.32 MODEL NO: ATX-P4 500W at first I thought it was on, when I turned it on I noticed that the fan ran for about 30 seconds and stopped. After a 15 minutes stop I turn it on as usual the fan spins a few seconds and stops. I checked the state of some components: the bridge diodes, the capacitors, the zener diodes, the switching diodes, and even the IC, but in vain it's always the same: the fan turns a few seconds and stops. However, I have the 5V of the green wire as well as the 5V of the purple wire(standby voltage) - Question: according to your experience how to repair this power supply? Thanks your brother from Tunisia.

Why computer sometimes automatically turn on just by switching on ups/main power without Pressing the power button on front side of cpu? Is it smps standby problem?
my stndby voltage is 7.05 volts at stndby terminal (violet wire and black wire) have replace already components.. but still 7.0 volts .. do i miss a component that is still defective ?

5 volt and 12-14 volts are provided by standby power section
and 5 and 12 volt are also available in secondary section

How much voltage is the computer power supply green wire
green wire is PS ON command
basically it is taken from 5 volt standby through a resistor. so in normal condition it is around 5 volt
in some models it is around 2.5 volt are above up to 5 volt

Salam M.Haseeb, nice explanative video. I am trying to fix an issue where the input voltage is fluctuating, i have from 75vac to 115vac across the bridge and main capacitor from the mains that shows 220v. I removed all the MOV and filter capacotors but still unable to have stable 315vdc, any idea where to look at ?
I changed the bridge and checked the mosfet which do not show any short circuit. Thank you & Salam Aleikum.

@@HaseebElectronics I removed and tested the 2 mosfets, they seem good the problem was rather on the secondary side as I found the schtokky diodes shorted as well as a swell capacitor.
After changing them, i still have no output, what generally goes wrong when the secondary schtokky goes short ? thank you & salam aleikum
@@HaseebElectronics The voltage at capacitor is now very stable at 315vdc. I have 3 optocouplers, i put a diode in all of them ?
Haseeb Electronics Salam Aleikum. I checked and only one optocoupler is linked to the negative side of the main capacitor. I placed the diode and lost everything in the secondary. The secondary voltage when i turn on goes to 6 or 7v then dies to 0v not fluctuating.
Haseeb Electronics Hello M Haseeb, i found the optocoupler responsible for feedback, once disconnected and a diode in place i found the original 12.33v but i did not feel any component heating up. I have a lots of smd diodes in the other side but all cold... Thank you and salam aleikum

sir i have problem with my power supply, first there was l leaked capacitors on the output and the fuse was burned out and i changed the caps also the fuse, when i plug power standby is ok.when i try to power it on, it wont turn on it makes noise, when i remove the jumper for i used to power on, the noise disappear, can u help me what is making the noise
it means you have something short or leak in secondary side. might be some rectifier or capacitor which is causing to drive the power transformer in overload condition
