    Thank you. The presenter did an excellent job, no nonsense just good information. I wish there were more videos like this, I appreciate not having to listen to bad rock music, enduring some quirky presenter or having to scroll through 15 minutes of crap to get to the subject matter. Why did you replace the whole canister? Just take the filter out and keep the canister? That's why it's metal.

      You can but it’s not necessary. It’s more for a cleaner job or if it’s just stopped running and has pressure. You can skip the drain if you want to.

      Usually, that is not required and not a common practice on most machinery nowadays. Most are remote mounted and do not contribute directly to anything that requires lubrication besides the sump. You also risk adding foreign debris/contamination into the filter if you pre-fill.

    • @georgecroney6168
      @georgecroney6168 Před 2 lety

      As said above, you have the small risk that you can contaminate the engine. The large central hole in the filter is it's outlet meaning it goes straight through the gallery, jets and into tour crank bearings, if a speck of dust or worse were to find it's way into that filter on the outlet side (big inviting hole to fill) it'll go straight into one of these places resulting in potential catastrophic failure and a rebuild. This risk is higher when youre working in the field and its a dusty yard or quarry etc. The risk is tiny but over a career might get you into trouble. Hope that all makes sense.

    I bought an old case 1085C excavator, it's in pretty good condition, replaced and fabricated radiator tank. But my problem is some minor leaks on hydraulic hoses on stabilzer and transmission joint, I'm not a mechanic but would really like to learn more, where do I start?

    What is the reason for water mixing with diesel in the C18 engine?

    • @williamriquelme2147
      @williamriquelme2147 Před 3 lety +2

      Hi Radhouane, if your breathers and fill caps are working fine, most water comes from the condensation created in the walls of the fuel tank when the machine cools down, some will come from your fuel provider's reservoir. Most equipment will have a water separator filter with a drain cock or a quick-drain at the bottom the fuel tank so this must be drained daily before the machine goes to work.

    what will happen if you overfill the oil, will it burst on the seam?

    • @Redcadence
      @Redcadence Před 2 lety

      if its anything like a car, theres a good chance it will do some damage due to hydro lock. say its too full, or it expands due to heat, your piston creating a seal wih the cylinder wall can strike the oil on the downward stroke weather its power or intake cycle. the oil itself is incompressible and the piston striking the oil can cause severe damage akin to it essentially hitting a wall at high speed. it can also cause frothing if it contacts the rotating assembly which will make it really hard to draw oil thru the pickup, eventually starving the engine of its oil.
      a cool demonstration i saw: if you want an example of the hydro lock, get 2 cups, one big and one small enough to freely fit inside the big one. fill the big one with water and try to push the small cup into it and feel the force push against your hand.
      if you wanna see frothing, get a cup and fill it with cola. blow bubbles into it with a straw and then drink it thru the straw with the straw in the non bubbled pop vs the bubbles at the top. compare how much you drink from liquid vs the bubbles.
