I was pretty into the competitive Halo 2 scene, but absolutely nothing was more fun than just loading up or joining a custom game at like 2am and bouncing around the map with your friends, a bunch of randoms or even yourself. I'd give anything to just have one day to go back and join all the fun bounce/glitch games and lobbies and just relive all of them. So much fun, not a care in the world, just goofing off.
MCC exists and these exact things still happen daily when I go online.
@@ZyrusSmithtrue, but it’ll never again be the same for finding out about these and spending hours trying and finally nailing it for the first time, not to mention the absolute excitement if you got the sniper and hit the acension big tower bounce in an actual competitive online game.

Woooow i still remember all of these! I don't think ill ever have as much fun in any custom games compared to Halo 2 hide and seek or zombies but everyone knows how to super bounce.. It was so fun! The last one and the crane were always my favorites.. You could go so far on the crane map if you follow the crane and you can get out of the map and everything I remember!
Getting on top of X building was the ultimate accomplishment.
I was devastated when the Master Cheif series didnt have these because thats what made matches so much fun.

Zanzibar was my most used one but Turf (not shown) was the most memorable. We grabbed the bomb during a ranked assault match and took it out of the map and hid until the other team quit. For those who don't know what the ranked scene was like back in the day, waiting until the other team quit was several hours and there was lots of cursing involved.

Will never forget trying for hours on end to nail those jumps on Ascension and Lockout on splitscreen with the lads. Good times

Short Explanation for the Halo noobs among us.
Super bouncing is where you crouch somewhere and then land on a specific spot. Sometimes you hold forward mid-air, tap jump when you land etc. You will then be launched up which in some cases makes you reach a specific building or tower etc. Just earlier today I found a way to do this again, for it cannot be done on 60fps or Halo MCC for that matter. This is done on Halo 2 PC. I was born at a very young age and I used to do this for hours back in the day. Hope you enjoy!

How did you get this to work on PC? Did you have to change anything special? I thought you couldn't bounce because the engine is running at 60 fps on pc whereas on the xbox it was 30fps

This is done on Halo 2 Project Cartographer, not MCC. All you have to do is create a new gametype with 'OGH2' in the name of the gametype. The game will switch to 30fps making superbounces possible.

Dude! Lockdown got so hated in TS because of Super bounce :D I remember all these when I played Halo back in the day. There were a similar easy and fast super bounce on Foundation as well. Get the most kills and just jump outside the map to camp in High ranked lobbies.

Damn this is so nostalgic. I was in a clan called B3y0nd R3as0n and we were completely dedicated to breaking this game. Loved playing snipers and chaining super bounces together while popping heads. Probably why my gamer tag was something along the lines of CrazySkySnipeage.

Chain Super bounces were also super satisfying to do. As well as combining Sword Launching and Rocket Launching too mixing in with bounces. Insanely satisfying glitches. Yeah, I'm 31. Sadge.

I still watch Cache Shadows tutorials to do bounces. That man was a legend. So is everyone that remembers the OG bounce clans. AirBiscuits and BounceFX always come to mind for me.

damn i miss these custom lobbies where everyone is going for super bounces and glitches outta the map when i was like 7-8 years old. im so thankful i got to be apart of it. THIS FOREVER WILL BE THE GREATEST GAME TO EVER BE MADE!

Lockout had two! You could get on snipe tower too. I’m sure you know
From what I recall, headlong the map was called(the crane map) there was a series of super jumps off the corner build by the waterfront. I remember how difficult pulling off all 7 or 8 of them consistently in a row was. If done correctly you could reach a building where the roof was see-through I used to camp with a sniper up there. There was a way to reach the tallest building using a tank pressure launch but you need overshield. Anyways thank you for bringing back memories from that time.
Quick edit... I wanted to mention that burial mounds had 2 out of the map super jumps the 1 hitbox crush by the bridge tower was patched around 2005 or 6 because people complained about it, funny enough I read up on it and it was the same patch that fixed swordflying.
I remember the headlong one! After that crane bounce in the video you could also go further with the X Building, but since its a lot less consistent I decided not to include it.
Also, swordflying.. so many memories..
I also remember sword canceling outside of gemini and walking around miles outside of the map.
I did all of these jumps! Especially when my teammates lagged out I would grab the sniper, get the lead and hide for the rest of the match and got the W 😂

You know what I always wondered as a child while playing halo 2? How does crouching in a spot then jumping somewhere equate to super bounce. Like how does the game allow those two things have that outcome.
I’m not sure either, but I’m guessing the crouch in a overhang accumulates some kind of game engine position error for the character, and then the bounce (which usually happens on some incline or surface overlap) probably initially has some surface penetration that triggers some larger reactionary force to keep the player “in bounds” and maybe resets the crouch positional error?
Not sure, would be super interested to hear from a game dev.
I kind of still wonder the same thing. I know the bouncing itself is basically clipping through a split on the map, having the game launch you back. Maybe crouching enables the clipping?
So I read up on this and apparently the crouching under and incline de-synchronizes the player position to some extend in the game engine (if a second player looked at you you’d be clipping through a wall).
Then when you have the crouch “stored” and fall at speed onto a polygon split line, with the older halo 2 tick/update rate of 30 Hz, your model would clip into the ground some amount ,due to the desync and time step, and then the game engine would give a very large force in the opposite direction to correct it.
With the MCC tick rate of 60Hz you need twice the speed to get the same effect/penetration, which makes it near impossible.

Can't forget the super bounces on Turf and Sanctuary. Ah, the saltiness of grabbing all the sniper ammo in Team Doubles and bouncing to those locations. Highest rank I ever got was rank 34 in Team Slayer.

Both zanzibar bounces are equally good (the one onto the windmill is more vulnerable but has insanely good visibility). The lockout bounce is too highly rated, because it only could see part of the top floor and was very far away, so harder to snipe from. Ascension big tower has the same problem of being too far away.
All of them (except zanzibar windmill) have a major problem that the ascension small tower doesn't, however: the sniper is far from the bounce location. Thats what made ascension small tower so good...plus it was still not too high up and had perfect cover against the whole map except for the banshee

Haha I only remember this map from the H2 Xbox Live trailer when idling in the menu screen. Can't really remember any fun games on that map.

I used to do the #1 Ascension bounce all the time but with Halo 2 MCC on my Xbox One I cannot get it to work despite trying many times. I hope it wasn't patched!

I have tried on every single map I was in bouncers hours as XX black market ex ex and I used to super Bounce all the time you cannot super Bounce on the master chief edition halo two classic it will not let you.I’ve been trying for an hour now on every map

Man I know. I remember just racing back from school on my bike. Biking as fast as possible for half an hour just to be able to play ASAP. Fortnite was the first game since then where I had somewhat of a similiar feeling.

You just type OGH2 in the name and the game will automatically adjust settings for you. Same with gungame, zombies, H2X, etc.

"MCC Bounce Enable" is super easy to use once you run MCC with anti cheat disabled, load up a map in H2C, and then run the file. I've uploaded a few of the bounces that I could remember off the top of my head. Check out the discord!

So I used to be pretty good at these. Is it my skill that has dropped off or is it mcc updates that are preventing me from pulling them off now?
Since mcc has >30 frames it requires more speed to super bounce. The only super bounces that work are from VERY high falls.

These don't work on MCC as the other person explained. If you have a somewhat ok pc downloading Halo 2 Project Cartographer just for superbouncing is 100% worth it. It's too much fun.
You missed one super jump on ascension. It’s in the middle of the map. If done correctly, it will make u jump out of the map and you will see the map getting smaller n smaller then boom pitch black for few seconds and you will start to fall down again
I think I remember that one. Its used to get out of the map right? That could also be done with a banshee launch. Not really useful in my opinion though.

I could get all of these ones except for Lockout. I can't seem to do that one for the life of me. I mean I am on Halo 2 MCC but I have a program to freeze tick rate at 30fps so I could perform them.

@@Ja-mbi I use Cheat Engine 7.2 with a bounce table. I believe that Lockout one I was talking about was getting up to the top. I finally figured it out after watching other tutorials. I got most of the bounces down

The memories of taking my TV and Xbox to a friend's house so we could play together. I dominated Halo 2 and 3 multi-player. I got level 54 Brigadier General with my buddy in duos on Halo 3. It was wierd to not win a match. Where's the damn time machine......

It only works on the original Halo2 game. It doesn't work if you are using the Master Chief Collection.
