- Marshella Chidester, 66, is accused of crashing her vehicle into Swan Boat Club, killing two children and injuring 15 people attending a child's birthday party.
Chidester was charged with multiple counts of murder, operating while intoxicated and operating while intoxicated causing serious injury.

The defense ISNT helping her case, IF she has all of these medical issues, she SHOULD NOT have been riving PERIOD.

Its a lousy defense. Claiming medical issues that SHOULD have disqualified her from even having a license is asinine.
Dont wanna spend all that money on a trial and then have it overturned on an appeal. Defense lawyers are basically checking off those boxes before hand. They overturned cases for stupid reasons before.@winniethepoohandeeyore2
If she was subject to seizures, she shouldn’t have been driving at all. But it’s not the seizures is it .

She was drunk , it wasn't her legs , she was drunk . You can look at her and tell she's an alcoholic. The fact that she's fighting this means she's not ready to accept God's wakeup call. Sad sad ,poor little girls mom .

It was both of a mother's children that were killed, she only has 1 left and he's in critical condition. 😢

She is a severe alcoholic according to her family, and now she’s making excuses to justify her actions. She could have called for a ride to take her home, and those 2 children would be alive today, but she’s a selfish drunk. Whether she meant for it to happen or not, she is FULLY RESPONSIBLE. She could have prevented it, but she didn’t. If she had such a medical condition that it impaired her ability to maintain control of her vehicle, she shouldn’t have been driving, and she certainly shouldn’t have been boozing it up!

She is an alcoholic who unalived 2 people, SERIOUSLYY WOUNDED OTHERS. she DESERVES PRISON due to HER ACTIONS. HER BAC WILL be raised in other court hearings FACT. SHE DESERVES THE HIGH BOND.

Did this defense attorney actually say she had no control over what happened? SERIOUSLY? If she had a medical disorder that caused her legs to seize up she absolutely should not have been driving. But her having a blood alcohol level significantly higher than the legal limit makes that point null and void. This woman is a monster. I cannot fathom the level of pain, sorrow, devastation, and grief that this family and the others are going through.

What's the limit in MI? .08? I know it is .07 in some states, but mine is .08. I laughed when the defense attorney said the reciept said one glass of wine a few hours before.. Yeah, a glass the size of a gallon of milk for a .26 breathalyzer...

This Case is Something Else
The way she shows NO REMORSE for ending 2 children, and for severely injuring 15 others, all the damage and destruction she caused to so many people, is despicable. She deserves nothing but to be held accountable. She must have driven for years loaded on booze, and she had not been caught, until now, when she ends 2 children, and wants to make excuses. The BAC tells the truth. And what a brilliant lawyer she chose, who stood there and told the court that she KNOWINGLY drove with a “medical condition” that could cause such a crash to happen. He must be a public defender, who are often incompetent. There’s many legal precedents for people knowingly driving with disorders that endanger others on the road, who ended someone, and were found guilty on all charges. What a winner.

If she has a medical condition that causes paralysis of the legs, why was she driving? No reasonable, responsible adult would be driving. That goes for alcohol too, but intoxicated people are hardly reasonable, responsible people. And if you put the alleged intoxication together with the alleged medical condition, that makes her doubly damned for what she did.
Sue the alcohol companies. No one is accountable anymore.

That is absolutely wonderful that the funeral home and cemetery offered free funeral services and burial for the two kids. I can imagine the funeral director and his or her staff crying 😭 about this tragedy because i remember a funeral director saying on TV while choking up that no one should have to bury their children.

I have epilepsy and never learned to drive because yeah, I'd never be able to live with myself if someone was harmed if I had a seizure while driving. She obviously can live with herself since she shows no remorse. I am not even in the same area of the country, but if I was in the courtroom with the aunt, I would be bawling my eyes out right beside her......

She should not be driving if she has seizures or has paralysis in her legs or feet. I won't even drive because I have problems with my neck and I don't want to hurt myself or especially not anybody else. This is so sad that this family lost both of their children. My prayers are with the family and friends of this family who lost their children and with the other families whose children were injured.
I don’t care what medical or mental issues is 67-year-old lady has she chose to get intoxicated and threw her actions? She killed two young beautiful children and I think she should spend the rest of her life in prison.
If "she had no control over what happened" who was supposed to be controlling the vehicle? She was, but she was too drunk to do it, it was her voluntary alcohol imbibing NOT her involuntary leg spasms that caused her to loose control. A ticking time bomb on the road, that tragically destroyed an innocent family FOREVER.
