Okay so I learned today that Decoupage was a thing! 😆 If any of you didn’t know, I’m a self taught artist so my channel has always been me trying things and discovering things along the way! I was freshly graduated with my degree in computer science when I started my channel. Sometimes I learn new things just by your comments 🙌 thank you for always teaching this self taught artist new things 😄 I also finally set up my Patreon again after about 5 years 😅 if you’re interested in more behind the scenes content, a monthly art livestream starting in December, and more, it’s right here; www.patreon.com/Chloeroseart Thank you for your support, whether you’re a weekly watcher, once every so often, or just a silent watcher. It means a lot!
That is what mod podge was originally made for. I giggled when you said that. But hey, we all learn something new every day. And you cant be an expert at everything. I was a crafty kid growing up in the 80's and my mom was my scout leader for a few years, so she taught me a lot of crafts. I also taught myself a lot when i went to michaels for the first time. Saw a bunch of cool things and just figured out how to use it. I was taught by books and magazines since youtube wasnt a thing back then. Or i would just see something i wanted in a magazine and would make it myself. (Sorta a perk when you are poor. You learn to be crafty to have cool things)
I can totally see how decoupage could look like a fun hack to a person who's never seen it before! My Mom did it a lot in the 1990s, but I haven't really seen it be popular nowadays, so it's fun to see it make a comeback ^_^
I’m a self-taught artist too. In high school I took theatre and a Crafts class as my art classes. In college, I took a 2D art class but didn’t do well in it (also didn’t know about the better colored pencils such as Prismas back then). My degree was in film and theatre.
It's annoying that they pretend it's some new revolutionary thing ... Using napkins as a cheap alternative for decoupage paper has been around for as long as découpage existed
Or a tree made of paint! Like you know those drippy looking ones that are supposed to be covered in snow. It could be paint on the tree instead! Off to the dollar store!!
The napkin découpage have been doing since was in pre-school, am waaaaay older lol, but it is a lovely little craft. The terra cotta painting was also cool
The tissue technique is a classic toddler craft here in Germany. I think my mom got several plant pots covered in modpodged tissue papers from me when I was little 😂 Love it
Hello Chloe! Yes, please continue testing these hacks. I appreciate that you don't delete any mistakes or boo-boos as this seems to be my practice of late!. I always learn from you. Hope you will also want to draw & paint more often on camera. You are so talented & fun. Where do you keep your art supplies now? Do you use that big all-in-one craft, foldout area? Blessings this week!😊
I'm confused as to how using mod podge to do decoupage is a hack when that is what it is designed to be used for. The 'hack' is buy decoupage supplies and do some decoupage.
I did the mod podge with napkins 25 years ago (when I was 4.. yeah, that's the ticket.. 4 😉) We are packing to move and my husband found my stash of napkins the other day. If only I knew which box has the mod podge..
I recall doing this with napkins about 30 years ago, too. The original use for Mod Podge. It’s absolutely possible to do the hack with the pumpkin, paint, & baking soda, using exclusively products from a dollar store, which would really cut down on the cost of the paint. It’s also great way to use up baking soda or cornstarch that has been in the cupboard for too long and shouldn’t be used in cooking any longer.
@@ChloeRoseArt Of course! It was very popular in the earlier part of the 20th century. My grandmother was married in the early 50s and decorated her wedding chest in decoupage: my mom still has it with most of the images intact.
I am love with the terracotta hack. I have been wanting to get some terracotta jugs or vases for still life painting, but can't afford one, so this is a great way to DIY the look from stuff I already have.
Decoupage is a whole giant craft/hobby, they even sell special tissues with a variety of pictures for that purpose. You can cover anything stiff enough with tissue pictures, such as boxes, jars, or even books. And distress, add stuff over it too.
i used to put patterned tissue paper on glass cups with mod podge, they make pretty votive holders! you should try it 🤗 just be careful to keep it on the outside if you plan to put real candles in it
Good to see a couple of ‘hacks’ that really work and have a satisfactory outcome. Glad you used a ceramic pumpkin rather than add to the plastic waste dump as would be inevitable in the future. Nice work. Thank you.
Ok you asked for feedback: this felt so chaotic as far as editing and filming. Lighting was wild and different in every take. No explanation as to the change of angle or your look, and the sounds was pretty echoi. Suggestions: wipe your table, close your closet doors, take out your trash, remove objects that aren’t being used or for decor like the random chair. Feedback part two : the stuff you made was awesome. It all came out soso good and I am literally doing both of them sometime in the near future. So 👏👏👏 Final feedback: If your goal in making videos isn’t to put out soothing to watch content and instead you’re going for the more chaotic and happy energy then completely disregard my first comments and do you boo-boo. Cuz you’re definitely doing just fine and your viewers love you. It was just A LOT going on for my ADHD brain to feel chill with. But that’s JUST me.
I found some Dickens character napkins years ago and did this on a wooden musical jewelry box. It turned out beautiful and made a great gift for Christmas. Fun to do as well.
I have tons of knapkins all seperated lol. I was doing a lot of different knapkin art a couple of years ago, this one included. Now I need to find them and start again. 🤣🤣🤣
Baking soda is fun for the texture and finish, did that one in college. I love using cornstarch with the cheap paints to thicken them when I need a more heavy body, opaque finish.
I have apparently lived under a rock cause this is the first time I’ve seen those terracotta pumpkins. Can’t say I’m a big fan of them but that is only because I can’t stand the way terracotta feels when I touch it. I’m big on decoupage though.
Chloe “ don’t use an expensive paintbrush” me I have never bought a paintbrush in my life i’ve either got them in painting kits or my aunt is giving them to me😂
I swear the goverment has hidden cameras everywhere. I was looking on youtube to find somthing to watch and this vid poped up on my fyp so i started watching it and i thought that it was a little.creepy that this was on my fyp because i was painting a terracotta pot as i was watching this 😮 Also i love your vids and would love to see more like this ❤❤❤
As someone who was born in November I, wholeheartedly agree with your sentiment of not bringing out Christmas decorations as soon as Halloween is over!
Nice crafts! I really like the decoupage one. Also, we both may write/paint left handed, however using scissors is one of the things I do right-handed.
The foam brush may have helped to spread more than a regular brush, and it was supposed to still be slightly wet when adding the flour. That way you wouldn't have to repeat it later/yearly. That's what I've seen all the other channels do who did these pumpkins. 🤷♀️
I've done the napkin hack since I was little, you can actually buy glue that is specifically for that purpose (Napkin glue, that's the literal translation as to how it's called in my country) but as you could see in the video it can and will wrinkle if you're not careful, that's what I find to be very annoying but it's such a cool way to make things pretty. I especially love to do wooden tea boxes or jewellery boxes with that.
Fun =) Do you have little craft scissors? It's way easier to cut out detailed things, like designs from paper napkins, with some sharp little scissors =)
I cannot remember which episode it was, but you made a comment about loving mechanical pencils. I would love to send you one I found. I think you would love it.
Oh my tree is up as of yesterday. I didn't wait specifically till the 1st of November cause Halloween is not a big thing here. I just always do it at the end of October or the start of November haha
The napkin "hack" is not a hack, it's a technique called "decoupage" that's been around since forever. Very clever though, and quite therapeutic to do.
I learned something new today! 😆 this is where not going to art school and learning art yourself means you don’t find out these things until comments like yours :) cheers!

Thank you, didn't have to scroll for the comment about decoupage not being a hack but a whole craft of its own.
Wait I studied computer science in college too!
It is funny how trends come back around. I remember my Aunts and Mom doing the napkin/decoupage in the 80s...
It's annoying that they pretend it's some new revolutionary thing ... Using napkins as a cheap alternative for decoupage paper has been around for as long as découpage existed
I really couldn't stop looking at your hair, looks so fluffy and classy.
The napkin thing is great- we did entire garden bench with it
How does it hold up to the weather? I’m eyeing an old bench in a corner right now 😂
At first I thought you said "paint tree" instead of Patreon, so now I have visions of a xmas tree with paint themed ornaments on it. 😂
I actually thought she was saying Paint Tree as well 😂😂
Or a tree made of paint! Like you know those drippy looking ones that are supposed to be covered in snow. It could be paint on the tree instead! Off to the dollar store!!
@@64sunshine64 Yes!! I love that idea too. I'm adding all of these to my idea list ☺️
This is an amazing video idea, I’d love it!
I would love a tree decorated with art supplies
The napkin découpage have been doing since was in pre-school, am waaaaay older lol, but it is a lovely little craft. The terra cotta painting was also cool
I saw tutorials for in in a mixed hobby guide book that had to date back to the 70's, and even that said decoupage was well over 100 years old
I used the baking soda tip to paint a lamp base some years ago. I really love the texture and Matt effect it gives
The tissue technique is a classic toddler craft here in Germany. I think my mom got several plant pots covered in modpodged tissue papers from me when I was little 😂
Love it

The baking soda hack is something interior design CZcamsrs have done for a long time!
Mr. Kate uses it a lot.
Decoupaging with napkins is one of the most accessible crafts out there you can even do it with elmer's glue, just water it down a bit.
Yes, more hacks please. They are fun to watch. The good and the bad.
I'm so happy I'm in a different time zone. Usually I only see these the next day. The pumpkin is really cute, and I love the baking powder hack!

THE OG BACK AT IT AGAIN!
EDIT: The napkin technique is called decoupage!
Thank you! And that’s really cool, I didn’t know there was a specific name for it!
@@ChloeRoseArt Of course! It was very popular in the earlier part of the 20th century. My grandmother was married in the early 50s and decorated her wedding chest in decoupage: my mom still has it with most of the images intact.
Yay! Another testing hacks video! i love these :) and your hair is soooo pretty!
I love the hacks and the skull hack it looks really beautiful and it saves money for those who doesn't want to buy expensive decorations.
Agreed!! It was very simple and fun too!

😍
might try a xmas napkin thing with a thrift store vase. looks cool
Your hair and makeup are 🔥🔥🔥🔥. Get it girl!
OMG your hair looks so amazing!!
I was really excited to see the napkin thing because my mom used that in her paintings!!
Chloe! Your hair is gorgeous!
Modge podge plus napkins is called Decopage, its not a hack 😂😂 looks fab anyway
I am love with the terracotta hack. I have been wanting to get some terracotta jugs or vases for still life painting, but can't afford one, so this is a great way to DIY the look from stuff I already have.
For the skull, maybe paint in the recessed areas or gold leaf them. Just a little add loved these so much!!!
Your hair looks so pretty n this video!!!
Love your hair in this video. You are entertaining as always ❤

Decoupage! You need to take a look at that. Great video as always.
Aww and your brushes are out of stock again.
I’ll be restocking very soon!! But most likely after Christmas
Love these hacks, the pumpkin and baking soda looked SO good... but not nearly as good as your hair :)
Your hack videos are my favourite!
This video is awesome Chloe hope you have a wonderful weekend.
Love the hacks.Your hair looks amazing.
That paper napkin "hack" is called decoupage and sooo old, haha. Also lots of fun to do with older kids.
These are actually pretty good ideas! I recently got some decoupage and am super excited to try and figure out what I can do with it? 😂
We used to do the Modpoge thing with napkins on rocks in the 90s
love your hair rn!

Modpods is expensive in Denmark, so I use ordinary white glue (which becomes transparent when it dries) and water, it works pretty much the same
I love the second hack, I've done something like this few years ago with a box of cookies, I had fun and I still use it 'cause it looks so cool!
Another craft to add to my list!!! Loved them thanks so much Chloe!!
I loved this video! You should totally do more upcycling , seasonal themed, videos!!
