Matt, actually saving the planet one car at a time. Well done mate.
Until you look at what he drives around in 😂 (that's just my jealous side speaking!)
@@TheAllyMor he could be planting the same amount of trees 😉
😂😂
Sat there with his car idling for no reason lol
As a Czech man, it always warms my heart of someone says nice things about our national car brand, even more so when they actually pronounce the "Š" in the name, bonus points! :)
Great video as always, pleasure to watch.
By the way, the A53 is a Samsung Galaxy phone aswell, yes. :)
I’m on my second Skoda first a yeti 2nd an Octavia estate - love them both, more so the Octavia. Practical, well designed and put together cars.
S in Skoda pronounced correctly, but still the 'o' not pronounced correctly,so halfway there !😅
I owned an Skoda Octavia 2005 1.6 M and it was a work horse. Bought it with 260k and it never left me stranded. Didn’t like the car for its handling or comfort but it worked.
I have a octy mark 1 vrs for last 4 years. Got it from my dad 😀. I have so far done 1.8 lakh km . Love it
I am upgrading soon but a vw
National car brand?
They are the purveyors of rebodied VW products.
You always go the extra mile to get a car into really good serviceable condition before selling it. I’d buy with confidence from you which is more than I can say for a lot of second hand dealers.
And thanks for the consistent flurry of videos you post, it must be a lot of extra work but they’re really appreciated. Cheers
Absalutely buddy
I would buy a car from Matt without hesitation.
I sell Skoda is for a living, and I have to say these things have cult status. Since they finished production in 2017, Skoda haven’t produced anything similar and the owners of these cars hardly ever get rid of them. Finding a good used one to sell is almost impossible. The last one I sold six months ago, sold for 20 grand!
Great cars had a roomster 1.6tdi which was brilliant and then had a yeti which was fantastic. Worst thing skoda ever done big market for these. Not a great fan of the new offerings.
@@9dicko Yeah the Karoq is very bland beside the old Yeti, a 4wd Yeti is a great country vehicle.
@Ken Wheeler - yep, you're right. Had my Elegance 4x4 170bhp since new. Now 10 years and 108k later and I'm keeping it. I don't have a heavy right foot but I don't drive like a Nanna either. I look after it, and it looks after me! Skoda are missing a trick by dropping this for yet another homogenous Kia Sportage lookalike. I'd buy a new Yeti if they were on offer, for sure.
@@mikeilkycook6832 I don’t disagree with you. I have a list of customers looking to buy a last edition Yeti. Unfortunately, car makers build cars for many many territories and something that is popular here, may not be popular anywhere else. They look at sales as a whole and will cancel models that overall have low popularity.
@@9dicko good man. I had 2 Roomsters before my Yeti, which I sadly p/x'd too soon for a Karoq. The Karoq is lovely though doesn't have the same appeal.
Matt your passion for saving cars is to be saluted 👍 Skoda missed a trick by stopping Yeti production
I agree £782 profit is not really worth it for you, but your mechanic, body shop, valet and other suppliers also made a profit on the work they did to get the car to its current, high, standard. 😃 But did you forget to include the cost of the Car Vertical check as well?
Resellers probably get free allocation
It's listed at £5k
Mind blowing really but the man has a business to run
Totally agree with the principle of maintaining and using existing sound vehicles, rather than always buying brand new, or nearly new.
We were constantly encouraged to re-use products , not so long ago and I believe it's much less wasteful as well.
Where we live , on an island, you do see older cars a lot. They tend not to have big miles, as it's not a big island.
This isn't always a good thing, as most engine wear is during cold starts and first few minutes.
We go through a lot of batteries as well.
There's something very satisfying about keeping an older car functional though....like re-soling an old pair of quality boots.
In fact, I don't really like brand new things, I like to see wear and tear but continuing function.
I can't really explain it but I reckon you'll know exactly what I mean, Matt.
Good job, again.
Shame the London mayor does not think so.
Most old cars can look kinda nice if you maintain it and just wash it. Some old cars aged so poorly nothing will help.
Sad to think that within 10 years the MOT will be rigged so that any fossil fuel powered cars more than 5 years old will fail.
Most of us will be priced out of car ownership which would mean for folk like me living in rural areas (only doing 3000 miles a year anyway) social isolation and reliance on supermarket delivery services. I wonder how we will get to medical appointments?
I love my 2014 Yeti, about to get a repower at 300kms although current engine still running OK, best thing is virtually no driver aids, beeps or bells, and when you turn it off it's GONE. Detest modern "safe" nanny aid cars.

Knocking on the door of 270k. Another brilliant video. Shame about the EGR, otherwise that would have been a decent margin, on, more importantly, a brilliant car for someone. I think the benefit of this channel is how thoroughly you prepare your cars, which wins other customers…
Can anyone explain why that bill was so high ( about the EGR ). Cheers
Cause its a ripp part but yer can delete it no probs for a tonne
It's a good car and will serve somebody well. It all builds a great reputation. You'll get repeat customers and recommendations from cars like that so there's a real lifetime value with even those smaller profit turnarounds.
Definitely worth the effort. Well done mate.
Nonsense
@@graham6771 thanks for that well thought out reply. You're clearly an educated man, a radical thinker and one of the greatest minds of our generation. Not a sad, greasy troll sat in his pants, picking his arse and being a fuckwit on CZcams. nope. Not that.
Oh dear
@@graham6771 We can't all afford Bentleys, Gray.
I’ll leave this for anyone who considers buying a VW group car (Audi, Volkswagen, Škoda, maybe Seat?) - the EGR is a thing that really might fail when the car is 10 years or older - I had one fail on me on my Audi A3, 1.6 TDI, 2011, so it ruined our trip and we had to go back. Either remove it completely, or hope it won’t break. But if you decide to still buy from VW group - they are fun cars to drive, you will learn the value of how much it costs to upkeep and fix them, but it will tell you also what kind of car you like. Anyways, great video as always, and don’t worry about the expenses - the person who will drive it, will enjoy it!
Great video Matt. We have a 2015 Yeti which we really enjoy. To be honest it's just as nice to drive as our other car, an MB E350 estate. Enjoying your theme on keeping older cars in service rather than buying new ones every three years.
I quite like the Yeti. It's got sort of Matra Rancho vibes.
Loved the Matro Rancho as a boy!
Your videos are coming fast and very welcome to everyone.
You’re doing the lord’s work Matt. Thanks for keeping another ice vehicle in the road, we’re going to need them. I predict a 2 tier society in the next 10 years. One part of the population in ev and waiting at a charging station, and the other part of the population doing everything in their power to keep their ice car going, a la Cuba.
I think you could be right
I have owned my 2015 Yeti since November 2018, it is my intention to keep hold of it for as long as possible. I have it serviced religiously and any advisories on the M.O.T are dealt with promptly.
I also keep the car clean all year round.
So I believe if I keep this up , I see no reason why the Yeti shouldn't last a long time.
The best car Skoda ever built.
Spot on!
Yeeeees! Back to the old school filming ❤️. Much better when you film everything by yourself! Love it! Great as always!
Honestly. It's the first time I have left a comment, but I have been with the channel for a while now. Keep up the good work. Love your videos. They are fun to see and really really informative 👍

You were right to save it Matt, nice car. Another fun video, loved the one liners!
Love your content mate new to the channel so I've got a good back log off videos to catch up on keep up the good work
Great video Matt. Nice to see something from the real world of buying a used motor :)😊
Another fantastic preparation job. Straight and honest.
This has been a great insight this Video, thank you very much! I'm considering getting a Skoda Yeti as a 1st Car. I don't fancy a Small Car but seen the Yeti and liked it's practicality.
I'll be using this advice in the near future for sure 👍
Always enjoy your videos , thanks
love your honesty
It's great when you do your video from start (buying) to complete overhaul, with costs, to ready for sale with all the emotions that go with it.
Another excellent car review these reviews are the best..a car that needs TLC & getting back to a decent condition .keep em coming Matt.👌
We bought a Yeti, a 4x4 diesel. Looked immaculate, low mileage, from Skoda in Cardiff. Three months later we had a catastrophic gearbox failure - second gear started crashing and grinding. the Skoda cover with AA cover was great. The AA man sat in it, took the vehicle 12 feet down the road and stopped it, due to the horrible noises the gearbox would make when trying to go into second.
The garage took the Yeti back to 'investigate'. Got a call a couple of days later to explain they'd need a completely new gearbox and had to order one from Europe. All done free of charge.
Roll forward: Yeti is back with us and I wasn't happy about how the gearbox was acting of the sounds it was making. Several phone calls to the garage went without a return call from the head mechanic, whom I was told would call back. Then, one afternoon driving back from work, I depressed the clutch pedal to change down and the pedal went flat to the floor. No clutch. I was lucky to be an an A road and coasted to a layby. Waited over five hours for the AA. When they arrived, mechanic went to work on it and discovered the hose connected to the Master Cylinder had popped free, due to the retaining clip not being replaced correctly. His diagnosis: Human Error.
Yeti went back to the garage on the back of the AA Recovery vehicle. We had a very sheepish and apologetic conversation over the phone with the head mechanic, and they said they'd need to vehicle for several days to 'investigate' the issue. The report they created didn't state it being the hose clip, but some 'other' problem, which they fixed, free of charge.
By now we'd lost faith in both car and garage and sold the car. All said, up until the gearbox croaked and everything that followed, we were both impressed by the car, how it performed and handled, and felt very safe and secure in it.
Thanks Matt for another fascinating, brutally honest review - and everything crossed that you obtain a half-way sensible resale price for the Yeti. In terms of educating and enlightening the used-car buying public, I think that viewing some of your most candid reviews should be compulsory, if only to evidence the fact that there really are some conscientious, trustworthy and knowledgeable dealers out there. Outstanding.
What I like about Matt is he gives second chances to cars that might very well end up as spares or repairs. At least this way he’s made a bit of profit and given someone the chance of owning a sorted weird looking car. Keep up the great content 👍🏻😊
I really like this channel and the content you make Matt
Brilliant videos Matt really enjoy watching process of getting the cars ready.. hopefully someday I can do the same as I'm big into my cars!!
Finally got me a Yeti the other day. Its almost the same as this in the video but manual and 1.6tdi 2wd.
I absolutely love it. Will never ever get rid of it!
That being Said. It needs new brakes and I got some driveshaft-issues. But that will get fixed 👍
This was and is still a good looking vehicle. Unique and stylish, Skoda needs to reinvent it for the 2024s
Loved the Yeti and agree with you, Skoda should never had stopped building it. Great looking car and great job sorting it to live another day.
Another great video and thanks again for sharing 👍
Great video! I've loved the Yeti since 2009
You are spot on with the Yeti Matt, Skoda probably now wish they'd carried on producing it. The Karoq - which sort of replaced the Yeti - is ceasing production towards the end of 2023 due to poor sales! The Yeti was a hugely popular choice with many buyers, and good examples remain sought after. That bent wing could probably be repaired. Those little sliding drawers under the seats are really handy. The new Skoda I bought in 2001 had one under each front seat, and I'd never seen such things before on a car. Neither had I seen folding hooks in the boot for carrier bags before. Clever stuff from Skoda. I went on to buy 3 further Skodas, all good!
The Karoq is as bland as they come - the challenge of every manufacturer having a few ‘SUV’ in their range is you need to stand out even just a bit - when the Yeti was launched it was fairly unique in the market. They’ve even done a good job of keeping the Kodiaq a fairly standout product but the Karoq and even Kamiq are boring as heck. I too bought Skodas from 2000 on and they felt special - you felt you were getting quality with value for money and some neat little touches. They’ve more or less become mainstream and, sadly, as a result a little anonymous.
The Karoq isn’t being phased out, they are just dropping some trim levels clouding the scout version.
@@MrTrev2507 The Karoq model line-up has no Scout version. Both the Scala and Karoq are ceasing production at the end of the current model phase.....or so said Skoda's Design Director, in Auto Express a little while back......
@@MarthaMansbridge You may feel the Kamiq is boring, but the Skoda sales person I spoke to just 3 weeks ago, said he personally had orders placed for 28 new Kamiq's.....and the wait will be 6+ Months...... Some people buy French cars, yet I personally feel French cars are the work of the Devil.
Bloody love your videos Matt, always full of knowledge and humour, we all need that these days. Shame it wasn't a very profitable car
this series is just super useful, got same car but from 2009. thanks so much it was all super clear a nice to watch 🎉 now i can service my yeti ❤
Quite a cute and unique car, love the spec and after the High Peak Autos treatment looks like its done 70k miles.
Great buy and work as always :D
What a cool car. It looks like a Lincoln Navigator and the new Defender went into a pub and this popped out 9 months later.
Nice car, and great video. Enjoyed this one. It gives me confidence knowing you can be stung so bad, but as long as you buy at the right price there's still a profit in it.
Always fancied a Yeti as it's a great dog car. Keep up the good work mate. Been following you since the first lockdown.
The best thing on CZcams 👍
I have one as my everyday car and it’s brilliant, never goes wrong, very practical and to to run. Dealer service excellent
Love watching your videos, your always very honest and thorough , and very interesting , love your humour too .
Yeti looked great after the money you spent on it , and at least you will make some profit on it .
Well done , result 👍
I agree with you totally , the Yeti was a very well thought out car in terms of modularity and engine choice . This one with a panoramic sunroof would be perfect . Yes , it was a great shame that it was discontinued as it really was a Czech Dacia . A car of a kindred spirit was the Series 2 A-class Mercedes , A200 fully specked . It would be interesting if you could get one of these to reincarnate to it's former glory . The car equivalent of giving a rescue dog a new home .
Great effort n as you always say keeps a classic on the road..Much prefer that yeti too with bug eyes 👀..Well done Matt..Currently looking at 2015 onwards merc 220/250 so gonna scower ya channel for heads up
Another great discovery. You and your team have rejuvenated it. It looks amazing. I have decided that I'm going to either buy a 4x4 Yeti or Vitara as my main, and have something like an X Type, Monaro or 159 as a second car for fun.
Hi Matt, as I'm sure you know, Arrowspeed tyres are pervious versions of Goodyear tyres, just re branded and are actually quite good! Much in the same way that a Dacia is virtually a re branded Renault. Love your videos mate, keep up the good work!
Super, Nice Škoda Yeti, you’ve done a great job.
My mate bought a yeti, slated him for it. First time I was driven in it, I was amazed, all the car you’d ever need.
Had a 2017 DSG 4x4 Yeti and loved every minute of it (we won't talk about the broken haldex coupling that was repaired under warranty). Moved abroad and sadly had to sell it on, made £3,000 on it (during the crazy COVID market). Was super sad to see it go but it made me a nice return! My favourite car I've had so far. Great vid as always 🤌
Another life saved and a Great review, I noticed that E.G.R. valve showed up as a common issue in the Car Vertical report, I've always liked the look of Yeti's, Id say they are quirky but robust, somehow they just appeal to me, Black should help that one go bye byes quickly. I do love how treat cars, you never cheap out.
a skoda! you made me very happy, being a skoda owner myself :)
Hi Matt you’re videos are super good thank you very much
This content is so so good. Long May it last 💪👍
Right decision to repair, just unfortunate with the EGR. That battery looked original to me, and then you said it failed to start...
I had the same problem...
Good, happy to drive car. Gives confidence, esp 4*4, and always puts a smile on your face.
You're too honest for the motor trade 😂
But makes the public appreciate more what you have to do... 👍👍
I learned a lot from you! Thanks
Great save Matt, nice job 👍👍 But wow, that VAT on gross margin is a deal killer.
Should not be VAT on older goods to keep them viable and save carbon footprint of manufacture…
Enjoyed the review, lovely to see your attention to detail and methodology in assessing a car. One thought for the future might be to put your costs up on screen over the top as you talk about them (Wheeler Dealers stylee), so you can show expenditure, expected sale price and expected profit...
Oh and one other thing I've noticed about Skodas is that the paint is incredibly hard wearing and polishes up a treat even on older cars (owned two Octys and now a Kodi and bought and Octy for a friend)
100,000 views in the first 24 hours, wow just goes to show how well followed and appreciated your site is Matt 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻😎
Great cars. My 09 4x4 elegance 2.0 tdi is on 188k now. Absolutely perfect for these Scottish Island roads.
I love the look of these yetis! I drove one whilst on holidays in TAS and it was really good I was impressed with the quality and visibility felt tight and responsive but was practical and spacious. Good to see you bring life back into this car mate someone will have another few years of joy and service from it! Love to see how do go from start to finish! Cheers mate 👍
Really enjoyable content but what shocks me is the rust you’re seeing on cars that are built by quality brands… I don’t remember you finding any on the Panda!
Thanks Matt, had the most awful day today and these vlogs are proper de stressing therapy for us grafters.
Well done Matt for keeping the Yeti on the road.
Not a bad car it's quite good
Kevin
Looks great, Good job.
We love our Yeti, got a 1.4 4x4 L&C, cracking car-and the amount of stuff you can get in it when you take the rear seats out is amazing. It’s done 70,000 miles now on a 66 reg and at 74 I am hoping to keep it going until I give up driving!
Great review once again, they’re good cars so I think you’ll got your asking price in the very near future.
If this has had an emissions software update that puts extra load on egr valve, and throttle body , which will need cleaning, dpf won’t be far behind either.I know from bitter experience, bought one with 70000 miles and fsh, including egr and throttle body replacement at 40000,both went again at 80000 plus dpf.VW know software update causes this.
I can’t describe you with or without a quiff!
Got a yeti 2 litre diesel 4x4 remapped, 16 inch wheels with chunky General Grabber AT tyres. Looks a bit more purposeful and does everything well. The car is just the right size for our narrow, potholed roads, corners well and can go off road. Both car nuts like me and old people seem to rate the yeti! Will probably be a classic some day.
Really nice work. I really like the yeti, it is such a cool car, specially the 2.0 L 4x4, it pulls like a train.
Good save. Distinctive small SUV in a good spec. Well done.
Another excellent video love these one . Where you buy a car 🚗 keep them coming
Love the Yeti, absolutely agree Skoda made a mistake in ceasing production. Really enjoy your cheap car videos and start to think it would be fun to do something like it once in a while. Then.........there's your bills at the end of the video........and your VAT! Perhaps I'll just stick to watching and enjoying your videos.
Great video again matt there good cars them yetis
Yes, you won't get rich on that deal, Matt, but hopefully, you'll make a reasonable profit... It's not a bad car now and will have quite a lot of life left in it, so, once again, well done for sharing another dilemma with us! 👍
A good save again Matt. Yes, you had to stump up a lot of cash to get to the point of profit but well worth it in my opinion. I had a Yeti (mk1 like this one) and loved it. Skoda were very brave with their rather unique styling and there was nothing quite like it. The van-like appearance wasn't to everyone's taste. Sadly, with the Karoq they went all generic and ironically the new Defender has carried the Yeti look forward.
Great video Matt. I had a Yeti very similar but a few years older. One concern is whether it has had the emissions fix that was rolled out to all VW diesel cars. Failed EGR and limp mode are classic signs of this. I had the EGR replaced under VW warranty. The ECU firmware update they applied causes heavy carbon deposits which typically affect the EGR and turbo. I had mine 'rolled back' to the standard firmware version. If this is not done then the EGR will fail again at some point (and possibly the turbo). Rollback is £100 - 150. Worth it.
Worth the effort its a nice looking motor now with the leather seats too.
Good job, Matt. Love it when you save a car and make a dime doing so.
Can’t believe this came up as mrs loves them & just bought xc60 d5 today !
Excellent work, nice tidy motor.
Kudos for the effort. But that's how it is... Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose...
Very cool to see your effort...🚀🚀🚀
Why do people put rubbish tyres on cars? That’s the first time I think Iv ever had an issue with something you’ve said, because cheap tyres are £50 a corner not £100+ per corner, and unless it’s on a sports car or a car you are going to drive aggressively then cheap tyres are perfectly acceptable…
Being a Škoda fanatic, this cute Yeti certainly grabbed my attention, they do ouse character, thank you Matt, for saving this (now) lovely example of the Karoq’s predecessor❤
Skodas are reskins of VW cars.
@@smoke_xl3332 They are VW's poor relations .
What do you think of the Karoq?
@@williamegler8771 They're not. Do some CZE automotive industry study. Start with Mr Ferdinand Porsche Dr. H.C. or Mr Hanz Ledwinka first...
@@michaelpavelson9385 Don’t be so silly. Since VW took over it’s been the platform for Skoda, Seat, with the Yeti been on the A5 PQ35 platform which is mk5/6 golf, Leon and Octavia.
Great job as always
Thank you! Cheers!
Great turnaround on the Yeti, that will serve somebody for 5 or more years at least!
Matt said Skoda properly 😀. I think the Dacia Jogger is the replacement for the Yeti. But correct, the Kamiq and Karoq don’t have the Yetis personality.
Another great video, thanks! and I really do appreciate that as one of a very few English speaking people, you can pronounce the name Škoda correctly.
Its the best looking version of the new Defender!
Cracking cars yeti's ... we had a 180 bhp version before they went all eco !! 4x4 and it was like a little go-cart .. nearly cried when we got rid of it ... 😞

Great stuff Matt. My other half had s as yeti and it was brilliant. Now we’ve got the Karoq and it just as nice but not as unique in style. Good cars are Skodas
