Nothing to be confused about. His fight with Strickland was boring, and his title fight with Izzy was boring. DDP / Izzy / Whittaker / Costa / Chimaev etc all better options for a title shot than Jared (even though he seems to be a wholesome guy)
Both fights were a bit boring, you're right. But he completely murdered Vettori in an exciting fight to watch. DDP has a bit of a better claim, but otherwise no one else (including Izzy IMO, and I'm a fan) should be ahead of him. Had Whittaker beaten DDP, no matter how that one went, he'd be the #1 guy since he has a win over everyone else behind him in the top 5. But the loss, and how he lost, puts him behind JC who has 2 top 5 wins within the last year, 1 over the current champ and the other a record-setting fight that saw him destroy the guy that no one has been able to do that to (although Whittaker got closer than anyone else)
@@Jake-Thornton If we agree DDP is next on merit (or Izzy next by Dana White privilege), then we're seeing the next MW title fight in Jan/Feb (4-5 months time), and therefore 8-10 months from now until the guy after that gets a shot - by which time the division might be more clear (which includes these names all fighting other contenders). Also Whittaker demolished Jared, made him face-plant the canvas with a head-kick that was more impactful than anything Jared did vs Vettori (Rob's win vs Vettori was also impressive over 3 rounds). Cannonier's merit argument is not great, but combined with his little star-power and performance vs Sean last time, I give it a very low likelihood of him being the next in line (and tbh his chances don't get much better even if he does get another win vs Roman Dolidze, say)

The former champion, the guy that has beaten guys like Romero, Gastelum, Cannonier and Vettori far more dominantly than Izzy (and who arguably beat Izzy 3-2 in their last fight, as opposed to Jared losing 4-1). Guy's like Aldo and Romero have gotten title fights coming off TWO losses, so what's a bad night for Bobby Knuckle's title ambitions?

Man, I don’t understand why some ppl say this guy isn’t likeable or more so they say boring.. He just spits honesty and facts and is intelligent and well spoken. He makes a great case for everything he said in this Schmo interview. I think the ppl saying he’s boring are only looking at trash talk and hype as paramount over any other metric to measure a fighters potential. All that being said it’s between himself and DDP imo…nobody else should even be in the convo if Sean don’t want Izzy or Vice versa

The UFC doesn't care even if Jared was the number 1 contender.
They only make fights they think that can sell. Thats why I think Izzy/Costa/Chimaev is next.

I agree with Jared. I mean izzy lost title to Alex and got rematch right away. Izzy lost to Sean. I don't get why Izzy gets rematch again. If he never lost the title to Alex I will have no problem with rematch vs Sean. If that is the case why isn't Sterling getting rematch vs O'Malley.

Doubt it. Fair play to Sean; he beat Izzy straight up. But styles make fights. Just like Sean was a stylistic nightmare for Izzy, I think there are plenty of guys at 185 who would beat him.

Jared beat sean back in December, but it was a super close match that came down to the judges decision, and some think that sean won that fight. Since then Jared's won against marvin Vettori. It only makes sense that jared would rematch sean, since sean has the belt now, but hes a lowkey guy that dosent have a big fanbase or bring in a ton of money so the ufc probably doesn't want that fight as much as other's. Thanks for being new to ufc so I could ramble

The fact that jared was back up for ufc 293 and has been pretty active in a perfect world should get him a shot , but at the very least he should be one fight off or next up . Its a shame popularity is a factor too cause jared is a solid guy lets be real

Rankings don’t matter once you get passed up, and you can’t put it on UFC.
DDP is the only pick but he may not take it, Israel is probably getting the rematch so he doesn’t work, Costa isn’t a contender even with a win but has a fight scheduled so him and Chimaev are not choices either.
It’s either try calling out DDP if he’ll bite, or a less ranked non contender or just wait.
He could probably be another backup though.

Our South African🇿🇦 warrior DDP is the only match up to make. As a side note DDP competed in a BJJ competition here in South Africa. Submitted 5 Gracie Barra black belts back to back in under 8 minutes . People have absolutely no idea who DDP is
