Every time Jalen Brunson receives a compliment from anyone but a Knicks fan it's followed by some sort of disparaging thing like "He can't take them to a finals" or "He's not a true first option" or "He can't play defense."
His defensive rating is 117.1, placing him in the spot just better than Steph and Dame, and is averaging 1.1 steals. He's a perfectly adequate defender and not the liability so many people seem to think he is.
Defensive advance stats are shit man.
But Dame and Steph aren’t good defenders either, so why even mention them as examples? You’re just further proving their point?

Trae is nearly averaging 28, 4,11 while Brunson is putting up 25,4,6 and both are doing so while being driving forces for their teams. Scottie is balling out but he’s not in their group tier at this time.

As a raptors fan, the Barnes vs Brunson conversation was interesting. He does have elite all around, especially w his 3p% going up. Also people dont talk about him as one of the most clutch players rn. 50% from 2 and 42% from 3 in 4th quarters. However, Bruson is ahead for me slightly cuz Scottie Barnes career high is 32 points. As much as we can project what he can do, Brunson is doing the thing that wins games by taking over (ie. 50 points).
Isaac's fire over Scottie being over Jalen Brunson is hilarious. JB just took the Heat to 6 with Randle giving absolutely nothing and Spo was trapping Brunson for entire games. Scottie may do that one day and he's made a huge leap for sure, but Isaac is jumping the gun (again)

Ant got injured and tried playing through injury which is why his stats look identical to last szn. He left a game in the couple minutes and his ppg went from 26 to 24. He’s actually taken a major leap in playmaking and scoring and is a huge reason the Timberwolves are so successful right now

i really think you guys are underrating shai. mo is cooking. i think he’s clearly better than both tatum and bron. you mentioned “point per game bias” putting him over tatum, but the thing is shai is SIGNIFICANTLY more efficient. he’s averaging 31.1 ppg on 54.3% FG. plus he’s a significantly better playmaker, and an equivalent defender being the best 2 way guard in the league. shai is my mvp pick right behind embiid right now. he’s up there dawg

How exactly is Curry ahead of guys like Embid, SGA & Luka? I'm genuinely curious, If this is supposedly based off who's the best as of THIS season, Then having Curry so high really isn't making alot of sense, Especially when those 3 guys are thoroughly outperforming him, And doing so while winning and making legitimate MVP cases for themselves. Curry is not playing better than any of those guys so far this season.

@@whitelightning2100 Bam is a top 5 defender in the NBA, has performed at a high level in the playoffs and finals, and been an all star caliber player for 4 seasons running. Scottie has done none of those things. Multiple players have good 25 game stretches that doesn’t automatically make them top 30. Scottie would be lucky to be included in a top 40 list.

I completely agree with the Embiid take. The goal of every NBA team is to construct a roster to compete for a title, plain and simple. You do not win the championship in the regular season, you win it in the playoffs. There may be 82 games in a season (which Embiid doesn’t play all of anyways because he gets hurt so much) but the 4-28 games that you can potentially play in the playoffs are what cement your legacy. It’s the reason why despite a very underwhelming career overall, Allen Iverson is held in such high regard because of what he did in his finals run.

Barnes that high is crazy. I wouldn’t put Barnes over jamal murray, no way. Jamal Murray averaged 30 on over 40% from three last playoffs on his way to a championship. It’s like we all forgot about that.

Placing Embiid outside the Top 5 is ridiculous. As a Sixers fan I know the dude has struggled in the playoffs, but to put Luka above him when his team wasn't even in the playoffs last year, Giannis when his team went out in the first round, and Curry when his team isn't even above .500 is insane. The dude is going to potentially finish the season the first person since Wilt to average more points than minutes played. He's frequently sitting out 4th quarters and still leading the league in scoring by a wide margin. The man is likely going to pick up his 2nd MVP in a row and this time nobody is going to be able to blame Kendrick Perkins for it.
