    @Oryon7 Před 26 dny +1

    From what I've gathered, the Ada Lovelace line of cards aren't a significant departure from Ampere. The most significant aspect that gives the architecture a performance boost is simply being on a smaller node.
    Why would Nintendo(or anyone!) pay a whole lot more per chip for 2 or 3 additional features, when they are doing their own customizations anyway? So Nintendo made the right call that got them the best of both worlds. That is: They got the cheaper architecture, AND they ADDED the Lovelace features they felt were critical to achieve their goals(plus some "extra goodies," according to sources). How can anyone fault that decision?🤷🏽‍♂️
    Additionally, Nintendo may STILL go for a smaller node than any Ampere chip out there, possibly the same node that Lovelace chips launched on(5nm), or smaller. That's the advantage of - and the ENTIRE POINT OF - making a CUSTOM chip!

  • @BillSherry
    @BillSherry Před 26 dny +1

    This fanboy running their mouth on Twitter is very easy to disprove.
    First off, the Tegra Orin line uses Ampere RTX 3000-series graphics tech, which is only one gen behind the current Lovelace RTX 4000-series. Even if Switch 2 released just after Blackwell RTX 5000-series rumored for 2H24 (and only the top end cards until 2025), that would only put them 2 generations behind at most. Not to mention that by some accounts, Orin T239 is sort of a half gen between Ampere and Lovelace that incorporates some of the newer features.
    Second, Tegra is not GeForce. All it takes is a quick look at the Tegra Wikipedia page to see that Orin IS the current gen Tegra chip with Grace being a high-end AI data center chip and Atlan cancelled. The next generation for Tegra using the Blackwell graphics tech is Thor and it is not slated for availability until 2025. Nintendo can't just drop a brand-new chip in a new console the moment it becomes available, there is a ramp-up time that any console maker needs before launch. Some variant of Orin is literally the very latest Tegra chip Nintendo can possibly use for a Switch successor console launching in 2024/2025. There is no Lovelace Tegra chip planned.

    It is embarrassing that Nintendo chooses to use 3 generation old tech. And its super anmoying. I am not a Nintendo fan boy so I have no problem admitting this about Nintendo even though I always buy their home consoles. I rather spend $50 more on a home console if the hardware is going to be decently stronger. $400 is fine if the hardware is strong enough.

  • @Antitious
    @Antitious Před 26 dny +2

    Let's not fanboy on Nintendo side either. If there is any credibility to this claim. Nintendo needs to go beyond what they think is good, just like the Capcom situation. Nintendo doesn't need to use cutting edge tech but something close. This is good bc if Nvidia creates something good. Nintendo may take notice but Nvidia mustn't be arrogant in this situation. That's how they lost Xbox & PS. Thoughts?

    • @D2Kprime
      @D2Kprime Před 26 dny

      There ISN'T any credibility to this claim. Nintendo had never used hardware 3 generations behind. Only 1 at best.
      Nintendo doesn't NEED to do anything but what they have done. That is leverage what they do best. There are 141 million reasons and billions of dollars that confirm that.
      The last time nVidia tried to make a gaming system (nVidia Shield,) it failed. Nintendo took the framework of that failure (the Tegra X1) and made it a success.
      There is nothing to "fanboy" about here. This is common sense and business sense. When you have a product that is a runaway success, you stick with that and make reasonable upgrades where you can which is what nVidia is doing.
      It's sad when people try to mask what _they_ want with suggestions of what others SHOULD do or NEED to do. Especially when they clearly have no concept of how business works. nVidia could make an absolute monster gaming handheld for Nintendo or themselves. Would it make sense? No? It would be too expensive to develop, too expensive to manufacture, and too expensive to manufacture. It would be a loss from every conceivable angle just to have "bragging rights" on having the most powerful hybrid hardware.
      Also, I don't know if you have noticed, but high-end gaming has become unsustainable. Budgets for games are climbing well into the hundreds of millions. There have been mass layoffs, firings, and closure of studios not only from 3rd parties, but from Sony and Microsoft as well. nVidia did not get to where they are by being stupid. They have a winning formula with Nintendo and they aren't going to mess with that.

    • @Antitious
      @Antitious Před 26 dny

      @D2Kprime Are you claiming to be an insider as well? Nate in video said they post stuff factual or not that's been floating around. I don't think it's crazy that Nvidia would want Nintendo to use newer components. Though Nvidia has to make the price right for all. By your own words, "reasonable upgrades." Do you know what reasonable is to Nintendo? Again, the Capcom situation and profits don't tell the whole story. The Wii was profitable & how was gaming on it? Stop going to the extremes. Nobody is saying to use the latest cutting-edge tech, but go beyond what you think is reasonable or get Capcom or a trusted partner for an evaluation. We don't care about the portable side bc they think Switch 1 is the best thing ever, but strictly dock tv play.

    • @D2Kprime
      @D2Kprime Před 25 dny

      @@Antitious No. I'm exclaiming that I have a brain, and I choose to use it. Everything I said was a matter of fact from history and public knowledge that a 1st-grader can look up on the internet.
      New does not mean more powerful. The Tegra XI is "newer" than the APUs in both the PS4 and XB1, yet less powerful. Whatever the new APU is for Nintendo's next console will be "newer" than the PS5 and XSX APUs, but will obviously be less powerful. The Tegra X1 was a "new" chip when it when into production for the Switch.
      The point is that whatever nVidia uses for Nintendo's next console is going to be "new." How powerful it is or is not is a separate conversation entirely.
      My prior statement stands. You are basing your commentary on what you WANT, and saying that is what Nintendo NEEDS to do. I hate to break this to you, but your opinion is not relevant to them. Hundreds of millions of dollars in profit and 141 million units is proof of that. Chasing power is causing Microsoft and Sony to lose billions of dollars, closing studios, and putting people by the thousands in the unemployment line. It's not sustainable anymore. PERIOD.

    • @Antitious
      @Antitious Před 25 dny

      @D2Kprime If you're using your brain like you claim. How can you only understand your stance? I haven't said anything that isn't factual as well. The obvious doesn't need to be stated. Of course, the Tegra X1 was newer than tech in the ps4/Xbox because it was created afterward & we know a mobile chip from that year wasn't going to be more powerful than those systems GPUs. The point of bringing up newer tech is obvious. Doesn't newer tech offer more power & is more efficiency than older tech?... I'm basing my commentary on what Nintendo needs to do as well. Learning from their prior past mistakes, something you're failing to recognize. Wii sold units, but how was gaming on it or 3rd party support? Nintendo wants that coveted PS2 record, but how many different versions of the PS2 were there vs. Switches? Nobody said to chase power & Nintendo closed some studios as well, so stop it. Stop being a fanboy because this conversation is for ppl who can be objectively honest and acknowledge prior mistakes.

    I think it's actually fairly believable. Nvidia does tend to be a snobby company even just talking to those who work for them. They really believe in the idea of brand recognition and trickle down sales. Basically they despise losing as it means the entire line of products look less impressive.
    Seeing how they've reacted to AMD on the GPU side when AMD barely competes at all shows it fairly well. I'm sure they wish that Nintendo went with newer hardware from them than they did as it means way more benefits to them. Yes them selling anything means profits, but if Nintendo used anything closer to modern hardware they could drop driver support for the older hardware, the improvements for Nintendo firmware would also improve their PC hardware, and they could have used Nintendo's system to demonstrate the newest tech.
    Instead right now AMD has continued to steal the entire mobile market and it is pretty clear the improvements they've been making are translating to be more competitive on desktop hardware as well. Do I think Nvidia hates Nintendo, no, but I don't struggle to believe they may be unhappy.

    • @NintyPrime
      @NintyPrime  Před 27 dny +2

      This ignores literally Nvidia's role in the whole thing. Does Nviida want Nintendo to use their latest tech? Cool. Tell Nintendo they can have it for the same price.
      Nintendo would jump all over that. Nividia won't, because it means they lose money per unit sold. They can't get upset at a company who is trying to make a mass consumer device, for not using tech that alone would make the chip without any other component, cost more than what Switch in total costs today. That prices it OUT of the mass consumer market.
      Nivida knows this, or they wouldn't create budget products in the first place. Remember, there are two parts to this rumor. First that their CEO is actually upset with Nintendo, when he's known for YEARS what tech Nintendo is going to use because Nvidia is literally developing it, and then two, that htey are trying to undermine the system with a new chip with a company that focuses exclusively on AI chips for cars.
      From a source who has never, ever, had inside information in the past.
      Nvidia isn't touting how happy they are with the money they make off Switch and then on the other hand. getting mad that Nintendo won't creat a. device that's priced out of the consumer market they exist in. It's a completely fabricated story. Nvidia is cocky, this much is true, but with their currently active partners they are very friendly with them. Especially when millions of sales are on the line.

      First off we know the chip for the system is a deriverative of an existing Nvidia architecture. It likely wasn't as costly to make as you'd expect and that design was being used for AI tech and self driving cars for a while now.
      Second, there is precedence for Nvidia to make a mobile device of their own. They did exactly that with the Shield. If Nintendo won't make the higher end hardware for that market I don't see any issue with that. I mean Nvidia makes both extreme graphics cards and a $5 a month streaming service with perpetually upgraded hardware. Again, that's perfectly in line with what they do already.
      And I doubt that hardware would kill Nintendo's sales. Nintendo succeeds from their exclusive software library and simplistic design perfect for children. Nvidia is planning on making a high end mobile PC with all the issues of existing mobile PCs. These are totally seperate markets with only a vague crossover. You're not gonna see people buying their kids an $800 Nvidia portable over a Switch 2 for $300-350, it's just not happening. This system likely is try with Moore's Law Is Dead also confirming it, and he tends to be pretty accurate. Remember that nearly all the old Switch 2 leaks came from him as well and we praised those back then.
      And like I said, Nvidia benefits a lot from developers actively making their games to benefit their hardware and developing software for multiple uses at the same time. Nvidia probably is upset, but that's not gonna make them cut their deal with Nintendo. And some of the rumors are that the difference in hardware price wouldn't have been much more, about $10 per unit. Of course Nintendo wouldn't want that and seeing sales of Switch even this far in, it's clear it's probably not necessary, but for Nvidia it's embarrassing if their system isn't on top. What Nvidia really wants is for Nintendo's system to make all those other portables look silly again showing them on top. Basically turning the tables from where they are now with AMD making Nvidia seem like they're not even trying.

      I’m not taking it personal at all, actually. There is quite literally nothing backing up the story. Some random person tweets something isn’t a story. I’m sticking directly to facts here. Including that this person is a Nvidia shill in the first place based on how much they praise Nvidia for every decision and bash amd.
      When talking about stories like this, it’s important you examine facts, not things “you believe to be true”.

      @@NintyPrime but again, the story was also substantiated by Moore's Law Is Dead, and most of the rumors of Switch 2 were also from that source. We can't just actively pick and choose which stories are total fabrications from the same source. Either the source is reliable or not.
      Again that's why I think you're taking this personal. You keep saying to "look at the facts" when the truth is there weren't any facts in the first place. Both the claims of Nvidia hardware and Switch 2 are nothing more than rumors, take it or leave it. Why only agree with the ones we like and throw out the rest?
      And why would being an Nvidia fanboy be an issue? I'd say over half of PC users are already and in the AI sphere there is no competition. I won't deny there's some pretty ridiculous rumors out there like those claiming a "double performance" just year to year. Yeah no that's a total fabrication.

      It's not backed up by Moore's Law is Dead. He did not make either of these statements. This literally began 4 days ago, after his last video, then his one today doesn't even address it. There are some doubts on if Moore's Law is Dead is legit too, apparently everything he says builds on top of existing rumors.
      But I haven't dug into him enough to know. Just what internet chats are saying.
      That being said, he hasn't commented on this story.

      The *XBOX Series X* is the most powerful gaming console ever made. How's that working for them?
      **crickets**
      The *PlayStation* division is losing money. The stock has gone down 10 billion dollars and Sony has had to cut sales forecasts, and operating budgets have diminished profit margins.
      I know people are indoctrinated to rub-off to console specs and power, but anyone that have a functioning-brain these days can see that high-end gaming is no longer sustainable.
      PERIOD, POINT BLANK.
      The *Nintendo Switch* proved that power does not matter. It's already been proven numerous times.
      The *Sega Master System* was more powerful than the *Nintendo Entertainment System.* It got trounced by the NES.
      The *Super Nintendo Entertainment System* was more powerful than the *Sega Genesis,* but was nowhere near as powerful at the *NEO-GEO* which was basically an arcade-board in a box. $600 for a console and $200 for games? Adjusted for inflation, that would be nearly $1400 dollars for the console and $460 for games today. That's the price of having the "strongest hardware." Didn't work out for them in the console space, but because it was just a retooled arcade board anyway, it didn't hurt SNK that much.
      The *N64* was substantially more powerful than the *PlayStation* and the *Sega Saturn* was about on-par with a little more RAM, but the *PS1* kicked their tails. The *GameCube* and *XBOX* were more powerful than the *PlayStation 2,* but they got the brakes beat off of them by the *PS2* which is as of time of this post the best-selling console of all-time.
      I could go on and on. The *DS* beat the *PSP.* The *Wii* beat the *PS3* and *360.* The *3DS* beat the *Vita.* etc. There have only been two times in all of gaming history where the most-powerful console won the generation. The 1st generation with the *Nintendo Color TV Game,* and the 8th generation with the *PlayStation 4.* NO, the *Nintendo Switch* is *NOT* an 8th-gen console. Generations are decided by succession, not power-levels.

Seems like you are using red-herrings and Ad-Hominems to take attention away from what this topic is about which is there is no logical reason for nVidia to be "upset" or "annoyed" with Nintendo in any way, shape, or form. Not to mention there is no real source or confirmation to this rumor. They took what nVidia failed at and made it into a success.

      While you are free to feel this way, a majority of my videos are sourced and come from people who have track records that are public and easily trackable, or is information that is publicly verifiable and yes, linked too. Does this make rumors true? No - you're supposed to be skeptical until things are officially announced and confirmed.
      But I do highly research my topics, such as this one. There is a reason I didn't just jump all over this when it initially came out, because I didn't think some random person tweeting was actually worthy of a video.
      Then it started to spread and now the misinformation it spouts is spreading with it. Unlike a lot of the videos I do make on people who have track records, this is a story that imho, wasn't even worth more than passing glance. Unfortunately, that's not how the internet treated it.

      *ALL* rumors are unproven until or unless it is proven to be fact, so until Nintendo or nVidia confirms anything, NO ONE has proven anything. You can't hang that on him. This includes outfits like WccTech, Digital Foundry, Moore's Law Is Dead, and others. They can SAY they know, but Nintendo nor nVidia has confirmed or denied anything.
