4K CABVIEW Beograd Marshalling Yard - Beograd Main station - Beograd Dunav - diesel locomotive ride

  • Locomotive cabride from the biggest marshalling station in the Balkans, through the Belgrade Main railway station, to the Belgrade Dunav station.
    This ride takes place through a very complex Belgrade Railway Junction, across many stations, junctions and separating lines. An important part of the railway lines passes through the central parts of Belgrade. A particularly interesting part is non-electrified railway line through the pedestrian, coastal zones of the city, along the river Danube and around the Kalemegdan fortress.
    The recording was done using a diesel locomotive, which was tracted a long and heavy freight train from Belgrade to Pancevo.
    This is EMD G16 diesel locomotive built by General Motors in the USA, on the Serbian Railways series 661 known under the nickname Kennedy.
    It's really nice to see a freight train passing through the central parts of the city, and for a large number of tourists this is a real attraction.
    This can be seen in this video, as a large number of people are waiting for the train to record its passing. Unfortunately, this is the last time that this railway line and central city train tracks was recorded in this part of Belgrade. Totally wrong transport policy of the country resulted in the closure of this city railway line and remaining train tracks will be demolished soon. The same destiny happened to Belgrade Main railway station. This is one of the main reasons why this video was recorded.
    Date of recording:
    June 2018.

    A fascinating ride, but also a sad one. It would take millions to restore these lines, and apparently the government has other priorities. Rail is still the most efficient way to transport bulk freight and large numbers of people, and as we consume our petroleum reserves and fuel prices rise, we'll all be relying more on electrified trains.

      I know. A very similar situation is in the entire Balkans. In our country, there have been problems with railway thefts for years. In addition to thefts, decades of non-maintenance of infrastructure and rolling stock have resulted in complete breakdown of the railways in Serbia. I conclude that is similar situation exists in Bulgaria.

Zaljubljenik sam u vozove i kolekcioniram modele. Pozdrav!

Perpetrators should either recieve stiff jail sentences and be forced hard labour to pay for the clean up, or be made to clean it themselves or have their family forced to sell personal assets and property to pay for others to clean it up ! Until there is real deterence for this crime, then social and criminal activities will erode civillisation to beyond a recoverable point and anarchy will soon follow .

    • @dulevoz
      @dulevoz  Před 6 lety +5

      @Lilly, you're well assuming. The Serbian government does not really like the railways and destroys it in all possible ways.
      @mielutu, it's similar in Serbia. Permitted speeds on the lines are generally reduced when signals do not work properly or do not work at all. At these low speeds, generally less than 30km/h, rarely or never leads to serious accidents.

    • @dulevoz
      @dulevoz  Před 6 lety +1

      @@dulevoz Here in germany you either have replacement signal Zs1 or the train has to stop and the driver gets it via Gsmr in that case he writes it down on paper what he is allowed and what not. In either case the conductor has to make sure the track is free beforehand. Otherwise the train has to drive on sight which means 25 kmh max and he has to stop in front of every obstacle. Its always safe when you play with the rules.

    The Rolling Stock at 43:37, to the right of the frame, are these for scrap? Does Tito's Blue Train still exist?

    Why do so many signals not work in the Balkan countries? Is this a Balkan thing? lol It would seem to compromise the safety of the railroads. Tito's blue train? Was blue his favorite color? lol May we see it?
    Does Serbia hate trains? The lines in Slovenia and Bosnia seem to be in better condition.
    Where did the train go after this?

    I love the country side and the beautiful city but the railway system is in such disrepair its disgraceful. Globalization has done you guys no favors for sure. I could work for a while around there with a skid steer and mulcher. I worked on many old EMD 567's that sounds just like that engine.

      This line was never planned for long term use and was dismantled (from Topčider onwards) shortly after the video is made. Now there are massive works to modernise the railway network in Serbia.

  • @mrspoorwegovergang1185

    very good work! Just a question: was the station of Beograd Dunav closed as well? By the way I do agree with you about the crazy policy of closing the old Beograd central station.
