4K CABVIEW Beograd Marshalling Yard - Beograd Main station - Beograd Dunav - diesel locomotive ride

- Locomotive cabride from the biggest marshalling station in the Balkans, through the Belgrade Main railway station, to the Belgrade Dunav station.
This ride takes place through a very complex Belgrade Railway Junction, across many stations, junctions and separating lines. An important part of the railway lines passes through the central parts of Belgrade. A particularly interesting part is non-electrified railway line through the pedestrian, coastal zones of the city, along the river Danube and around the Kalemegdan fortress.
The recording was done using a diesel locomotive, which was tracted a long and heavy freight train from Belgrade to Pancevo.
This is EMD G16 diesel locomotive built by General Motors in the USA, on the Serbian Railways series 661 known under the nickname Kennedy.
It's really nice to see a freight train passing through the central parts of the city, and for a large number of tourists this is a real attraction.
This can be seen in this video, as a large number of people are waiting for the train to record its passing. Unfortunately, this is the last time that this railway line and central city train tracks was recorded in this part of Belgrade. Totally wrong transport policy of the country resulted in the closure of this city railway line and remaining train tracks will be demolished soon. The same destiny happened to Belgrade Main railway station. This is one of the main reasons why this video was recorded.
Date of recording:
June 2018.
i was in 1972 on vacantion in Becici/Budva formel Yugoslavia. its in Montrenegro.good food and drinking,Vinjav and Slivovich. yum yum.very nice people.
Hello Dulevoz. I've done 4 Interrail tours passing Belgrade and the Balkans. I love this lands and your work is always very interesting. Bravo!!!
Hvala :) I'm glad that my video work is interesting to you.
More more MORE! Wonderful rides through countries and cities I will never go to but can experience through your videos. Thank You! Dulevoz
You're welcome!
A fascinating ride, but also a sad one. It would take millions to restore these lines, and apparently the government has other priorities. Rail is still the most efficient way to transport bulk freight and large numbers of people, and as we consume our petroleum reserves and fuel prices rise, we'll all be relying more on electrified trains.
All those signals not working... This is a disaster waiting to happen.
But anyways, great video as always!
Unfortunately this is the reality of railways in Serbia. Thank you.
Sorry Dulevoz I didn't mean to sound rude or anything and if I have to be honest I understand you very well, we are kinda in the same situation here in Bulgaria.
I know. A very similar situation is in the entire Balkans. In our country, there have been problems with railway thefts for years. In addition to thefts, decades of non-maintenance of infrastructure and rolling stock have resulted in complete breakdown of the railways in Serbia. I conclude that is similar situation exists in Bulgaria.

Antologijski film u režiji Dulevoz-a ;)
Ta ranžirna stanica izgleda postapokaliptično. Krš i lom svugde.
Pozdrav, Dule! Hvala na lepom videu! Zaista sam uživao gledajući. Neke delove ove rute dobro znam. Do sada nisam imao priliku da vidim našu ranžirnu stanicu "iznutra". Zaljubljenik sam u vozove i kolekcioniram modele. Pozdrav!
Another great video, Dusan. Thanks for letting us see the byways of Beograd. Hope all is well with you 👍🏼
You're welcome and thank you.
The railway that no longer exists :( It's a historic video now
1:01:08 Beautiful nature! 😇
In medieval on wards to the 18th or 19th century that area was densely populated.
Hvala dulevoz !
That was very interesting. Thanks for taking the time
You're welcome.
very beautyful to see the very old rail tracks. 70 years old i think? good screen in 4K.en super sound.yesss.
Damn. It's the route I've been arriving into Belgrade for decades. I feel sorry for the Old Lady (old train station now being decomissioned, entry at the right 47:15). So many fond memories.
Decrepit physical plant & basic rail operations in the extreme...I love it!
Wow, what a ride! What a route! Our government in Bulgaria doesn't like the railways too. We have the same issue. Maybe it's some kind of a Balkan syndrome...
looks like lots of lineside works needed (tree / foliage clearing). nice vid.
Great video! Greetings from Bulgaria.
That's one very overgrown rail yard!
Great video. Ride through the almost whole Beograd. I liked it very much. Thank you.
Is this a derelict railway ?
@@Mickeya1000 I guess it demolished now. You can read about that in description under this video.
Many, many thanks, bro. This video is amazing and reveals to me another side of the City of Belgrad.
You're welcome!

Odlican video. Kako sada ovo funkcionise kroz tunel?
Super interesting film. Love the "empty" stations and all the old coaches just like an Apocalypse film!!!!Hope those posh river view flats are finished now....
Bravo Dule, svaka cast!
Magnifico video.muchas gracias.
You're welcome.
The station control girl that handed out the paperwork she's cute. Also safety reasons as we've had a big freight train disaster in Provence of Quebec 6 years ago. was caused by man-made. and a few tanks of oil exploded and half the town went as it had tracks right through the heart of town. 50 people lost lives. LAC-MEGANTIC, Quebec, July 9 2013
Well done! Interesting indications along the trip on left corner.
Passenger transport is completely abandonned...
Thank you.
Big thanks for sharing your beautiful videos.
Hello,
As a connoisseur of the Pancevacki railway and road most, I would be very interested to know and especially to watch a video with the nowadays status of the dual bridge. Has the refurbishment of the rail bridge been finished? I stayed at Belgrade between April30th and May1st 2010. I would highly appreciate a cab view on Pancevacki most. Thank you in advance. Kind regards from central Romania!
Sehr interessante Tour! Vielen Dank!
You're welcome!
Unmistakable sound of EMD 567 motor!
Hello Dulevoz, thank you for sharing your video in 4K, excellent, I have a question, to start the 06:10 minute of your video it seems that a small dinosaur is seen crossing the railroad tracks to the left of the screen, is it a special effect? , because if so, the trip is more entertaining, I love the landscape of your territory, at the beginning of the trip, I see that the plants are gaining space in the railways, if they do not clean, it will become very jungle, jejeje, good but I see that they are making arrangements and cleanup to advance the video to improve the service of trains and what good they are doing, thanks Dulevoz for uploading your video, this section I know from another video before, which is now in the opposite direction, a hug
It's a bird. A pigeon?
That is Pheasant bird, there are plenty of them around.
You're welcome. As Žarko said, that bird is pheasant. There are many pheasants in the bushes and weeds next to the railway. You can see another pheasant in this video, at 56:43
You were right, it was a small dinosaur. After all, birds are direct descendants of theropod dinosaurs.
Lovely video! Regards, Dana,
Thanks.
Hi! Any idea when the next installment in the Slovenian locomotive cab ride videos might be ? regards, Dana.
For now I do not know for certain, so I do not want to promise.
Amazing production. Any info about that beautiful lady at the begining ? Just kidding... 😇
Me too I want her name…😎😎😎😎
Thanks. Believe me, the woman from video is very dangerous and you would not want to meet her :)
You'd have to meet her to make sure :) :)
Hello. Great video. Since I do not know Serbian language and informations in English are pretty hard to find, can you please tell me, what has changed since closure of Beograd main station ? Is this non electrified single track from entrance to main station to Dunav still in use, or did they dismantiled it ? Thank you, greetings from Slovakia. :)
Unfortunately, track from 47:11 to 50:08 was dismantled.
@@Nikola16789 Thank you. So it means, that all stations on that track are accesible only from Pančevački most ? Or the whole line is now unused ? Sorry for such questions, but there are only a few informations about Belgrade tracks since closure of the Main station. Don´t you know, is there any present map of railroads in Belgrade from ?
@@filipmytnik2535There were only cargo yards on that route. In theory they should still be accessible from Pancevacki most, but I'm not sure whether they use them. Generally speaking Belgrade is trying to move freight trains away from city core and open that space for residential and commercial purposes. The good thing is there will be no more incidents with dangerous goods close to high density residential areas. You can google "openrailwaymap" for more info.
Nice ride.
Unbelievable, I the functioning is "Srpska Mechanika" the good of faith........
Wonderfull:thank you.
Kakvi su ovo predsignali na 29:42 i 31:32? Znaš li nešto o njima?
Odlicno
Hvala.
Not pretty but very interesting! I agree with Georgi that passing signals at red is not a way forward without a clear uniformed handsignalman. Keep up the good work.
Very professional made video - such a shame this graffitti exists ! It is a blight on nearly every nations railways. It's about time real penalties were enforced for this disgusting anti social behaviour. Perpetrators should either recieve stiff jail sentences and be forced hard labour to pay for the clean up, or be made to clean it themselves or have their family forced to sell personal assets and property to pay for others to clean it up ! Until there is real deterence for this crime, then social and criminal activities will erode civillisation to beyond a recoverable point and anarchy will soon follow .
Super video!
How on earth there are no accidents. Almost every light signal is not working....
passing malfunctioning signals (and their corresponding block of rail) at low speed (20 km/h in Romania, perhaps the same in Serbia) eliminates the risk of any accident.
@Lilly, you're well assuming. The Serbian government does not really like the railways and destroys it in all possible ways.
@mielutu, it's similar in Serbia. Permitted speeds on the lines are generally reduced when signals do not work properly or do not work at all. At these low speeds, generally less than 30km/h, rarely or never leads to serious accidents.
It's similar everywhere. In this case, trains stop in the stations, and then the engineer is informed about the problems, the defective signals, malfunctional level crossings and reduced speeds...
@@dulevoz Here in germany you either have replacement signal Zs1 or the train has to stop and the driver gets it via Gsmr in that case he writes it down on paper what he is allowed and what not. In either case the conductor has to make sure the track is free beforehand. Otherwise the train has to drive on sight which means 25 kmh max and he has to stop in front of every obstacle. Its always safe when you play with the rules.
@@dulevoz They like money, so railways, like all state owned companies (Electricity, Telekom,...), are source of party racket. They don't reinvest any money, it all goes to private pockets. And after years of THAT you get THIS.
Zanimljivo u svakom slucaju.
so many people on the tracks...
A technical question from USA. When operating on paper authority/track warrant, the wayside signals are still in effect (even if they are not illuminated). In your country, Must you receive dispatcher permission at every signal or do you just continue with paper permission and disregard all signals?
What is the load on the axle allowed on your rails? Been surprised seen of biaxial wagon-platforms with containers 40" load aboard .thanks dulevoz Локомотив сам стрижет ветки кустов по пути следования? получается красиво : ) Спасибо dulevoz.
You're welcome. Maximum allowed axle load at our railways is 22,5 tons per axle and 8 tons per meter. I'm planning to upload one video of locomotive punching through the bushes, so you'll see how it looks on our tracks :)
@@dulevoz D4 on that track? It does not look like that
Now that I'm rewatching this vid again, 29:20 on the left side you can see the three V200 (Jugoslav Jz 761 iirc) part of the Tito's Blue Train.
Thanks for info. I noticed that old locomotives too, but had no idea what is it.
And, damn... It really sadly to see them in that condition. In former times they were very beautiful.
If the red light is not valid. How does the operator know to be safe to occupy the tracks?
Sony FDR AX100.
Great vid, but seeing catenary and hand thrown switched on the mainline is awkward
I think they refer to the new station as 'Prokop' Station.
Belgrade Center
The Rolling Stock at 43:37, to the right of the frame, are these for scrap? Does Tito's Blue Train still exist?
na 48:46 lik se buni ili?
Why do so many signals not work in the Balkan countries? Is this a Balkan thing? lol It would seem to compromise the safety of the railroads. Tito's blue train? Was blue his favorite color? lol May we see it?
Does Serbia hate trains? The lines in Slovenia and Bosnia seem to be in better condition.
Where did the train go after this?
I love the country side and the beautiful city but the railway system is in such disrepair its disgraceful. Globalization has done you guys no favors for sure. I could work for a while around there with a skid steer and mulcher. I worked on many old EMD 567's that sounds just like that engine.
This line was never planned for long term use and was dismantled (from Topčider onwards) shortly after the video is made. Now there are massive works to modernise the railway network in Serbia.
@@miroslavmilosevic1040 I love the country side and the city on the river. Very Beautiful.
very good work! Just a question: was the station of Beograd Dunav closed as well? By the way I do agree with you about the crazy policy of closing the old Beograd central station.
wath is the problem with those signals?not valid?
Thefts of copper from railways and non-maintenance.
Tory i sygnały w bardzo złym stanie. Dlaczego likwidują kolej w centrum miasta? Pozdrawiam z Polski.
29:23 Tito's blue train on the left.

CZcams shows me all available resolutions from 144p to 4k. I do not know what might be a problem.
A very good question :( It would have been nice to have seen it on 4K
