I love the fact that Steve and Alex go well beyond what a normal Minecrafter is capable of in regards to redstone and combat respectively (Steve can cobble together a TNT cannon in seconds and Alex is a living lethal weapon), but they are utterly incapable of the opposite.
Maybe they live in a modded Minecraft world that assigns specific ability boosts to Builders at the sacrifice of debuffs to other abilities. Steve's construction abilities are faster than normal while Alex's combat abilities are faster than normal but in both's case at the opposite they're either slower or outright incapable.
A detail that a few miss is that Steve fights the same way as the old school way of fighting, Before the Combat-Update. While Alex uses the newer Combat system.

I have just have mad respect for Steve for understanding Redstone. I'm with Alex in thinking its like coding a computer. But seeing them understand their strengths and weaknesses is sooo cute!
I love watching these. Would love to see more episodes around potion making though. It being (In comparison to redstone) more easy (And able to be understood when written down) I imagine Alex would love it....especially Strength Pots

I can see why Alex would be training Steve; there would be a time in his life where, for one reason or another, he won't be able to rely on his builds and gadgets and would need something to fall back on But at the same time, they have a great team dynamic with Alex being a monster in close quarters and Steve being a master at long range destruction

I like that Alex is the main fighter in that she goes for the more direct and physical approach of a fight while Steve provides support with his weapons system. They really compliment each other.

I was kinda expecting of Steve to fall back and have ptsd from his first days in the minecraft world. Beeing an absolute killing machine out of necessity, before mastering the power of redstone, and having the luxury of beeing a Troll XD
Steve would be better with a bow an arrow or crossbow, for non technical combat situations. Alex can just carry a flint and steel and tnt to just bomb stuff on the fly, or a lava bucket.
