They then, recoup their loss by charging higher fees for service and parts. Sometimes the building management refuses to pay higher maintenance fees and endangers the public using the elevator. Code authorities, architects and building managers need to come together to limit the practice of proprietary equipment. Cost for servicing would cost less if any trained technician could maintain and troubleshoot.

If you can see all the worlds fastest lifts since 1978 have been manufactured by Japanese companies because they have the means of bringing a lot of innovation and solutions to overcome the problems of high rise lifts. Even The otis lifts at Burj Khalifa travel at less than half the speed than the Hitachi observation deck lifts at Guangzhou CTF Finance Centre, despite the observation deck lift at Burj Khalifa having a longer travel distance. Their 10m/s speed is quite slow for a lift traveling that long.
