Wow! That was head spinning helpful. I’m a former skater who was at Regional level back in the late 70s/ early 80s. Now in my late 50s, I’m just getting back on the ice after 25 years! In my competition days there were manual notes and young caddies who would come on the ice holding up your score! You have been super helpful with all the new info!

Thanks Amee for sharing this info about the judging system but what about the technical box on a spectators screen and it has a higher technical score than the skater received and the artistic scoring is lower when the skater has performed the music 🎶 interpretation beautifully because I felt it and went on that journey with the skater so what then?!! I remembered a skater whom never followed his skating plan in the free program: isn't that what it means that you can change a program to suite a skater's benefit since the judges are professional skaters themselves?!! Plans changed in the free program at times, then what?!! Do you have to follow up with your plan?!! For instance, in the short program for placement, the skater missed a combination jump, missed the timing and poped it to single, could the combination jump be included with the axel or another jump so the skater obtained the points ?!! That happened in the past with international skaters; is it still legal or things have changed??! Just asking but I am not 🚫🚫🚭 a skater, only a FAN!!!

If I understand you correctly you are asking about the scores that appear on the TV screen when you are watching at home? Those are uncertified scores before the technical panel certifies the calls. The final scores may differ. This video is for skaters that are filling out a PPC for the technical panel. What you submit is your intended program. Sometimes that performance can vary as the Tech Panel will call what they see. But it still has to be inline with the rules. If for example you do not complete a combination jump where you planned, you can make it up later - IF, it is in accordance with the rules. For example, not exceeding the maximum jumps or repeating previously completed jumps. I have other videos that explain more about the actual judging process and may answer your questions.
