Great detailed video Phoebe! I was in Cambodia in Feb 17 and this brings back alot of memories especially the baby milk scam!
Always in absolute agreement about elephants!
I remember my temple pants at Angkor Wat, they split up the crotch within 10 minutes but I managed to get by!
Alot of people tell me they have to pay bribes at the Thai border, but I just paid as part of the bus ticket from Thailand, no drama!
    Love Cambodia!

hi I'm Cambodian and I'm gonna try to add some tips that might help :
    1. streets vendors may seem tempting if you're a tourist because it's cheap, it's delicious, and it's authentic - BUT - there's always a but - it's not usually sanitary. For example, those tiny oysters that are dried in the sun are not that safe because it's not fully cooked and dust is always everywhere in Cambodia. You can still eat aunthentic food at places like Khmer Surin. :)
    2. instead of giving homeless children money, give them food like a cookie. this is because we don't know if the money is used for a good purpose or not.
    3. if you're worried about your belongings but u can't strap ur bag to ur body, u can place the bag in the front of your body. It's safer that way.
    4. BEWARE DARK ALLEYS. We don't know what's there, and we are not planning to.
    ok I hope these tips have helped anyone planning to go to Cambodia but I'm not an expert cuz I'm just a kid ;-;
    ALSO :
Try the amok, the durian purée and sticky rice, the stir fried spicy chicken with basil leaves, and smoked fish with shredded unripe mango mixed with fish sauce, chili, onion, and green tomatoes.
ok I have a test tmr I should stop

These are great tips! Having traveled in Cambodia for a month and half, I endorse your tips. However, I will say this about the kids who work the tourists, I remember travelling in oodong and I had no money left to give to the boys who accompanied me up a mountain. And the boys responded kindly saying, "its okay, but next time bring books". It warmed my heart. These kids truly do want to learn, specifically English as they think it will be a stepping stone for their futures.
Also be careful in Angkor which is the country's national treasure. Same rules apply for any conservation site. Touching the carvings, taking of stones, smoking around (yes I saw a woman smoking on the steps of the temple which was very insulting to the people around)...just try to protect the natural history of the place.

Tance Dj. Siam Reap, Will get you thrown in jail quick smart, if you try to buy drugs in that town. They want it to be a family friendly tourist place. There are lots of places in Asia for cheap drugs. Do yourself a favor, and don't go to Asia, for a drug holiday. You will get so stuffed up, YOU WILL DIE HERE! I kidd you not! Asia, is not a good place, for people with addiction problems, you will get to a certain piont, then no one will help you. That makes the place a death trap if you can't control yourself. I've seen it happen.

I ended up travelling between Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia last September/October 2019 so can’t say anything about Cambodia and Vietnam. It was before the covid19 and it was 100% safe for solo female travel like me. Not sure about how travelling around the world in general can be nowadays with this pandemic going on. Even after it will be over, travelling the world is not going to be the same. I can say this while in Australia, faraway from my home country.. still travelling solo but can’t wait to go back home!

I've lived in country for more than six years. While I agree with some of what you say, certainly all isn't correct.
    1. A torn or ripped USD note can be exchanged at the nearest bank to you.
    2. I won't say counterfeit notes are not common. But, in all my six years here, I have never encountered a single bad note.
    3. You can also rent a motorcycle for about $7.00 USD per 24 hours. Then, you have the freedom to come and go wherever you are, without having to deal with tuk-tuks or motodops. However, if you choose to go this route, make sure you keep the motorbike secure.
    4. You have choices for visas, upon entry. If you wish to stay less than a month, to up to two months, a tourist visa is fine. If you wish to stay longer, please do your research prior to departing your respective country.
    5. A lot of places may have a proper toilet with a "bum gun", a hand held bidet, of a sorts. It works - VERY well.
    6. English language skills of Khmers aren't nearly as wide as you state they are. The vast majority of Khmers have a lot of trouble with English. There is also a HUGE difference between English speaking and English comprehension, as well. So, keep that in mind.
    7. In addition to sun glasses and possibly a dust mask, you should probably have a good hat to cover you from the Sun.
    8. We have an apartment in the city (Battambang), and a farm in the province. We have very reliable internet at both locations. 12 Megabits at the apartment; 6 Megabits at the farm.

About #3, I should add that if you are a woman, it's better to ride Tuk Tuk. Bag Snatcher's main target is woman on motorbike (even worse if you're riding alone). Also the traffic in Phnom Penh is crazy so if you're just visiting for a short period, don't bother with riding a motorcycle yourself.

Or you could possibly visit Sihanoukvelle. It was beautiful and relaxing.
Sometimes things they sell at the market are extremely pricey for foreigners, so make sure to consider carefully before buying it.
And be very cautious of the thief

I'm Cambodian and I don't live there so I did learn a few things from the video and im not trying to be mean or rude but it was really funny when you tried to speak khmer. If you do go to Cambodia I strongly suggest you don't go out at night at least not by yourself just stay where there are a lot of people around. Going out at night by yourself is really dangerous

Moving around in major cities like Phnom Penh, Siemreap or Sihanoukville? In Cambodia nowadays, one can easily book a ride hailing ride either in cars, or tuk tuk or motorcycle format... Plenty of ride hailing from well known GRAB (who removed UBER via an equity swap deal from SEAsian markets in March 2018) to local operators like PassApp, Exonet, U-Go, etc...

I could be wrong here but I don't think this rule is for religious reasons but for conservation. My understanding is that, with over 2 million visitors to Angkor Wat each year, the authorities are concerned that touching and rubbing the temple's walls and statues could lead to many features simply being worn away. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
