I came to Cambodia in 2009. I have travelled a lot, but Cambodia is home to me. The most beautiful country and the nicest people. Go Cambodia. K'nyom srolang Kampuchea ❤❤
I’m a Cambodian and I really appreciate the people who actually thinks that it’s a really good county!
I’m also and I especially live in Phnom Penh

That man who siad, "They have a pretty rough, sad history.... but they've come such a long way and done so well rebuilt themselves...." 😢 thank you for your understanding. 🙏 Yes we've tried hardly to overcome generational traumas left by the 70's genocide. 🥲
Like you comment but it started in the 60”
Yes you are correct Cambodia went through 9 years of pain
Cambodia escaped Khmer Rouge only to then be controlled by Hun Sen who was a Khmer Rouge and then worst becoming a Vietnamese Puppet. Nearly 30+ years of Dictatorship, now it’s nearly being controlled by China.
Cambodia will be one the greatest Pearl of all Asia if there’s no Genocides occurs during (1975-1979) Millions of lives men and women of great influential intellectuals elites are taking away by this atrocities .
Yes. If we did not have to go trough the 70' we of cause not this behind, so really cant compare us to other countries, remember we had to start from scratch after all educated people got killed. I would say no where is perfect, it's all up to you how you want to live, where you go, you need to have an awareness of your surroundings, from my bad experiences avoid going out late and being a lone at night at the quiet places, I got robbed in different country too so this my message to you out there doesn't mater where you're you should be alert. Sometimes we just happens to be at the right time in the wrong spot also because I didn't watch my back!
As a local at one point, move to the USA, and visited there earlier this year 2023. Cambodia has come a long way and I believe we have enough tourist, modernization, unique cultural experiences for any regular tourists now. The problem is, people forget that Cambodia is still recover from civil war and some foreigner like to compare us to our neighbor Thailand. We have a unique charm compare to Thailand! And don’t forget, to visit Laos as well! SEA asia are so rich in culture and food!
Well said :) thanks for watching and I hope to motivate more people to come to Cambodia via the video's I make 🤗

I retired in Thailand and have visited Laos and Vietnam. I fought in Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia. My experiences in Laos and Vietnam after coming back after the war were both very positive. I had hoped for the same with Cambodia.😭

As a Cambodian, we also get robbed if we are careless. Avoid showing any sign of having any valuable thing in your bag. They usually would grab your bag or phone on the road.
Cambodia should return the money that Thailand has raised and helped them. In the internal war that took place
The current value is 12 billion dollars.
That's money Thailand lost to take care of 3 million Cambodians in 28 immigration centers for 4-8 years.
The United Nations has never paid money to Thailand. Only a small amount of food was sent to help.

It’s really heartwarming to hear those comments from those beautiful people who visit my country. The fact that they understand our values and empathy our history, I truly grateful for them and can’t thank you guys enough for your love and chose to spread those positivity about Cambodia the country that try our best to live in peace and harmony❤

I have been to Cambodia, Thailand and Vietnam, and I went back to Cambodia more than in any other countries in South East Asia. Even in capital city Phnom Penh I found chill vibes, and felt safe. Love you Cambodia!
Nice one mate :) I love it too. The only thing I hope they improve (also for themselves) is wast management. The people are great, it’s beautiful and the food is delicious 😃
I would recommend checking out Luang Prabang, Laos

Well - I haven't been to any of them - but from the outside looking in - give me Cambodia for a variety of reasons. -- My desire comes from an ideal retirement destination so I put a high value on the visa laws cost of living and all around comfort with English being enough and the USD accepted is a + big too ! Very friendly people and Karma believers are a welcoming bunch. Many expats are there young workers & older retired just enjoying life.
As a Cambodian, I feel really ecstatic after hearing the positive thoughts people have for my native country. Thank you for the video, I really love it. ❤
That’s great to hear ❤️ thank you for saying that 😊

@@kevinbowie2054you should go to koh Rong. the water is so blue and you can even go dive there, and I promise you you won't regret it.
I love this video which shows the perspective of foreigner traveling and living in Cambodia.
It seems they had unpleasant experience with thief, road, and obviously how Cambodia is developing rapidly and the once good place for western tourism are long gone such as Shihanouk Vile, and yet they still enjoy our food, culture, people and accept the imperfection of Cambodia.
Thanks so much for this video.
Once again, Cambodia may share the same culture with Thailand but it is very different in almost every ways.
So don't come to Cambodia while expecting the same experience as Thailand.

Thanks for sharing that❤️ I hope you’ll make it out here soon too 🙏 I hope some videos give you some insiders in the meantime
I'd visit Cambodia for it's history and culture and because it's not a huge tourist destination. Mostly, I always hear about how exceptionally welcoming the people are.
Thanks it Swampzoid :D And I definitely can say the people are super lovely ❤️
Friendlyess country in the world
The people are gems. They make the place. One thing I love is knowing I'll be paying fair price from street stalls etc. Been here 6 months, had plenty of time to learn to love it despite the many crappy roads and scrappy roadside stuff...

I am glad to see that my hometown get more attention on the internet. Kampot is such a Hidden gem and I wish for the world that it would not change much or turn into a Chinatown like in Sihanouk ville. I prefer the historical and cultural aesthetic and not a concrete jungle.
Thanks for watching. I also prefer it like that too 😊 cheers
Kep is my favourite place in Cambodia, but Ankor Wat is unmissable if you’re visiting the country.
Working for UNESCO 20 years ago, I was in Cambodia for almost a year. I was more in rural areas and villages. I felt in love with all the children I had worked with. I still think of them very often. I hope they are doing well today and that they have grown up and have became successful and happy. Miss them a lot.
Nice one Kim Yang. Thanks for sharing your experience :) Hopefully you’ll be able to return one day ❤️
Thank you for your service 🙏❤
I really appreciate how you try to show a lot of good tourist spots of Cambodia. My message to all foreigners is that never trust anything as long as you never see it by your own eyes so yeah, visit Cambodia once. Actually, nowhere is the safest place; you need to be careful on your own (I feel too much pressure when I went to Paris). It is true that Cambodia media is still weak unlike the neighboring countries so we cannot spread out some true facts of Cambodia to all around the world. Some people never come to Cambodia yet they already assume what Cambodia is like from the media or anything else about the negative sides of Cambodia.
Well said ❤️ thanks for showing your appreciation 🙏🏆 have a beautiful day
well to me you never know what the future will hold. i thought i would retire to thailand, planned it for about 20 years. but after doing research Cambodia seemed really what i wanted, a peaceful life. i worked interesting high risk jobs all my life and i needed peace. i found it here in Cambodia. i buy from ma and pa shops if i can, rather than corporation's, life has been good. i really love this country.
As a cambodian, im so happy that people think positive of our county even if we might have had a terrible past but still great that some people love cambodia!!

Exactly. Cambodia was known as one of the most well known country in Asia overall during the 50’s and 60’s
@@CaroCaro7517 the most well know is china,S Korea and japan according to western
I appreciate your comment and fingers crossed.
Phnom Penh, Kampuchea was once known as the Pearl of South East Asia, until the U.S. secret bombings, civil war, then genocide occur.
This makes quite a bit of sense. A pearl is in the middle/center of the oyster and Phnom Penh is in the middle of South East Asia.
I travelled to Cambodia 10 years ago and absolutely loved it and found the people to be so warm and friendly. For years I was asked to present a talk about my trip to the yr8 and yr9 geography students at the school I work at as they studied Cambodia. I hope I did it justice... it really was the highlight of my trip.

I’m a cambodian I love my country and I think it’s beautiful
love this video. as a cambodian, cambodia is not a really attractive tourist desitination, but its a really good place to explore the culture and traditions, especially in the provinces like siem reab kampot and kandal. if you would like to enjoy the western-ish side of cambodia, there is phnom penh and if you would like to visit beaches and the ocean, there is keb, sihanoukville (althought its nearly a chinatown there). in other words, cambodia is a mix of our own tradition and just us trying to catch up on the rest of the world.
Much Thanks for making this awesome videos for us, Cambodian!
Thank you for watching and appreciating what I’m doing ❤️
Cambodia was my favourite South East Asian country.
I've not been back since early 2018. I loved Sihanoukville and Seam Reap (esp Angkor Wat), but they've both changed a lot recently, esp Sihanoukville which I think has been totally over developed for the benefit of Chinese business men.
Kamot I believe still has some of the charm it had 10+ years ago, but I guess like most places, it's changing and the high rise buildings are creeping in.
Still, I'm guessing the general Cambodian hasn't changed massively, which is great as I always found Cambodians to be outwardly happy and friendly people.
Hopefully I will be back in the not too distant future
i was there is 2004 its not even recognisable anymore and that is a good thing

Cambodia 🇰🇭 is definitely the most beautiful country in South East Asia, people are much more honest than the Thais, food is great. Hopefully it won’t get screwed up by tourists the same way Thailand did.
My question is why you like to comparing yourself your country with Thai people or Thailand? That's how you make yourself or your country better than others?

Cambodia is one of the best in South East Asia. Welcome to Cambodia and enjoy your time.
Southeast Asia is visited much by Chinese, Koreans, and Western Countries. Cambodia is the most genuine as Western and East Asian 'influence' was slow to materialize compared to Thailand and Vietnam. Koreans (my connection) love Cambodia because of its genuine cultural aspects and love the people of Cambodia because they are very polite and genuine themselves.

Thanks :) I’m glad you find it helpful 🏆
@3:08 when the guy says, "it was better for the barangs", I'm pretty sure he means the French, though he does not pronounce it like we do. Barang is Khmer for the French.
Thanks for the lesson 🙂
He means western foreigners in general, typically but not always white foreigners/white-majority-country foreigners. I'm also assuming he means in terms of things like wages and cost of living.
@@spicysalsaking791 "Borotheh(s)" or បរទេស in Khmer means foreigner. The term "Barang" or ជនជាតិបារាំង means French. If a non-Khmer uses Barang in the context you're suggesting, it is misused and was misinterpreted. Since it was the French that were mainly present during the pre-Khmer Rouge era, it was likely a generalized, umbrella term. However, to use more concise language, we say "borotheh(s)" for foreigner and "Barang" for French. I study language and am also Cambodian.
Cambodia is at only at the beginning of its modernization. It'll only get more modernized from here on out. However, it is still a developing country because as people know of the tragedy that happened in the 70s, 80s.
Thanks for interviewing the foreigners about their feeling and impression of our country

Thanks for the video. By the way, I'm not saying this just because I am from Cambodia, but it's so true. There are many adventures to do in Cambodia. And when it comes to safety like the last woman mentioned, there is a risk of robbery everywhere, but Cambodia is relatively safer than others.
Completely agree. I feel very safe here as a 'vulnerable' older woman out and about
Thanks for watching and 💯 agreed 😃
I've been to Cambodia over the years for extended periods, backpacking.
These travellers haven't experienced Sihanoukville before, or how Phnom Penh used to be like.
It's changed a lot in these aspects. Sihanoukville was the best thing about Cambodia. Now it's gone.
Kampot is no way ever gonna replace it, nor Kep.
The older guy basically is saying the rest of my thoughts. The people are so friendly, and Phnom Penh has some great Khmer food, and Chinese restaurants.
Cambodia is still a great Country with that Wild West vibe, just not as. untouched as it once was.
Those who said Thailand is too Touristy went to the touristy areas.
Whilst most of Thailand is developed, Thai only places are still abundant in the North. Thailand is still amazing. And Thailand can still offer that amazing SEAsia experience, you just need to go to the right areas.
Don't miss Vietnam or Laos, or Myanmar.
Cheers.
You've said it all to perfection. Thankyou.
And Thailand is SAFE.
As a Cambodian, i agree that Sihanouk Ville now is no where near the old time.
@@tsp7517 I see nowhere that said either country was safe or not safe. Wherever you go around the world you need to be open minded and cautious. There are undesirables in every country however fortunately outweighed by happy welcoming people.
