      I still have a bunch to do as well. Best of luck!

    Just a note to consider. Sometimes you can remove a piece of the tack strip and drive a wood wedge in under the plate. This also saves one from having to remove the base. This procedure can hold the plywood seams secure and keep the rub from occuring. Also, somtimes it is the plate rubbing against the plywood itself and this can remedy it. Hope this helps! Good job 👍

      Great point! I didn't think about a wedge. And I am with you on your thought about the plate. That was actually what I suspected was the problem until I saw the actual sheets of plywood rubbing together. In which case your wedge idea would have worked just as well. Wish I had thought of that... 🤷🏻‍♂️. Thanks for the comment and checking out the video. Very much appreciate it!

      What is this plate you refer to, mine seem to be squeaking near the tack strips

      @@sh839c im referring the horizontal 2x4 that runs along the floor and is nailed into the floor itself ( the one the wall studs are nailed to) somtimes its separated from the plywood decking because the joists have settled.

    Great job Dino. For me, I've just been trying to get my adult daughter to move out, problem solves itself! However, that plan hasn't worked out yet 🤣🤣

    First job I had with my Granddad as a kid was nailing down subfloors. After watching the Ol' timers I had it down...filled my pouch, mistake... started banging them in... one at a time was a pain... Aah, trick #1...put a bunch of spiral's in my mouth and went back at it... Come lunch time I'm sitting with the crew and couldn't eat... Had this awful taste in my mouth and couldn't get rid of it and mentioned it...Everyone started laughing like their sides would explode... What's so f'in funny, ask I... Well as they settled down, my cousin, a little older, turned to the guy's and asked... All right who had Broccoli Rob last night, the nails are bitter... Turns out, when doing the subflooring, the guys would piss in the wooden keg that the nails came in... Seems a rusty nail holds as good as a screw... and a nail askew holds better than a screw... That was over 65yrs ago... never tasted a nail or screw since then... 🖖👍🐝💪🐸

    Don't EVER screw down squeaky floorboards until you lift the floorboards to check whether there's pipes under them . Most of the time the reason why they are squeaky is because pipes are underneath. I am a plumber and get calls all the time when people make the mistake

    • @TheSharkShed
      @TheSharkShed  Před rokem

      Agreed, you need to be careful, but I was screwing directly into the floor joists and I knew there were no pipes in that area.

      How would a normal person be able to tell in an upstairs bedroom if there are pipes,wires,etc?

  • @johnscarpetsestablished1983

    what about pipes under the floor,

    How do you know where the joists are?

    • @TheSharkShed

      I show one method in the video. But you can also go up to the attic or into your crawlspace or by looking at floor registers for AC or light fixtures in the ceiling. Once you know where one is, you can count every 16 inches to find the rest. At least that is the standard measurement.

    • @ricosrealm
      @ricosrealm Před rokem +1

      just follow the nailing pattern of the subfloor... add a screw next to the nails.

      I loved the video! I learned several things that I was curious about before hiring someone to do this to my place and my neighbors home. I didn’t have to search 3 to 4 videos to find 3 to 4 different things. Everything that I needed to know is explained in this video! I appreciate you! Thank you so much for making and sharing the time! Happy New Year!🎉
