the scene where jinora removes her cloak and we see her tattoos always gives me chills. she’s also the youngest air nomad to ever become a master (at age 11). aang was previously the youngest master at age 12, but he got beat out by his own granddaughter lol
hope they also told Aang he’s the Avatar at a younger age due to trouble brewing.
And unlike Aang she actually did master all existing airbending forms. Though I doubt she had as many available to her, espically as Aang never mastered the last level of airbending.
they never said how long he had his tattoos and being that they were blue and there was no red tint from recent tattoos its safe to assume he had his tattoos for a while before getting frozen
houseofaction Look at Jinora’s tattoos. I don’t see any red.
He’d be ecstatic
Korra grabbing Zaheer with the chain: "HERE'S YOUR EARTHLY TETHER"
Isaac C I died😭😂
you made my day xDDD
TIME TO EXIT THE VOID BITCH
After reading and watching that sad ending your comment was a therapy.... 😀 😁
I'm currently crying laughing. The comment of the day
That last scene is depressing af.
Bittersweet, I'd say. Korra was happy for Jinora, but it was also sad that she was rendered into such a state.
:'(
but also great at the same time
I thought it was heartwarming Seeing Jinora, paying a tribute to Aang.
And Korra feeling helpless because the airbenders are taking the responsibility she is supposed to fulfil.
I say Korra cried because she remembered aang because the Avatars was killed from Unalaq in book 2
The Earth Queen’s death left me breathless
P'Li’s death left me mind blown
Ming-Hua’s death left me shocked
Ghazan’s death left me feeling crushed
But I guess Zaheer’s fate is still up in the air
Oh the puns... ;)
This is next level
get the hell out of here😂
hahaha so original hahaha like i've never seen these jokes before, hahaha you're a *genius*
Yes
"Hi I'm Kuvira."
"And?"
"And I was here I guess. See you season 4!"
She's named when different metal clan guards are interrogated though!
Rewatch 3x12
Honestly I blame Nick for (once again) cutting their budget and time to work on it all, when they did. Many things couldn't be developed as well as they should have been. S3 kuvira among them.
I love this entire comment thread. It's my biggest gripe with Kuvira, such a horrible introduction. She should have been an actual Book 3 character who became a villain for Book 4.
While I agree her entire story line seems forced; a couple people above are correct. She’s name dropped fairly early by Sue once the team reaches Zaofu, she’s also the one who plucks Zaheer out of the lava moat with her cable when the Red Lotus first attempts to abduct Korra. They build her as an adept fighter, nothing less or more, which she proves to be in season 4. I still believe the grandeur of season 3 would have been best saved for the finale of the entire show, but I also understand Nickelodeon cut their funding for season 4 so I’m not disappointed with what we got.
This final scene with Tenzin's speech is what really drives home for me what a difficult journey Korra has had and how she's matured since Season 1. We'll keep seeing that in S4, but damn, I'm proud of her, if sad about the price she's paying. Also Jinora's tattoos! I crey evrtiem at the last scene, it's so beautiful and bittersweet. One of my favorite things in LoK is the rebuilding of the Air Nation and to think what a large role Korra has had in that... again, I'm proud of her.
How awesome is it that the comparisons between Jionra and her grandfather come full circle. Not only is she incredibly spiritually in tune like Aang was, she even became a master at a very young age.
Yes, she is the youngest Airbender to get her tattoos, the second being her grandfather
Also the fact she looks basically just like Aang now
@@hazok4351
Weren't they the same age?
@@jessicabrack2846 Younger
@@hazok4351
Oh. How old is she, then?
Korra's a very physical person who's whole identity has to do with being physically strong and confident. Being in a wheelchair's probably miserable for her in it's own right.
Plus now with the new airbenders, they're already half way there doing her job rendering her kind of useless/helpless until she recovers.
Her whole journey throughout the story is spiritual growth
Each season her confidence was pegged down a notch until she gained humility. Very opposite trajectory for Aang, where his naivety, urge to avoid confrontation was transformed to self-confidence.
Mhs90 Korra’s journey really was the opposite of Aang. While Aang never wanted to be the Avatar, the world was desperate for one when he returned; Korra, on the other hand, only knew herself as the Avatar, yet came into a world that didn’t need her as much as she expected.
Brandon Andres Oo I like that perspective too
God damn, that final scene gets me everytime
Atiq Khan same
Yeah, watching Jinora with her tattoos resembling Aang always chokes me up, and then the final shot of Korra just does the trick.
Tear bending, every time
incredibly sad moment
Atiq Khan me too man
"They need to make a movie out of this shit, for real"
Have you learned NOTHING?
Best comment ever xD
what abt a live action show?
hdhdhe dhdh no, they will ruin that too
@@WiseGaines the live action show is being made for netflix. theyre casting appropriately and Brian and martin have control over it I'm pretty sure so it should be good
hdhdhe dhdh said no live action ever 🤦🏿♂️ Example Death Note, Attack on Titan, Bleach, the last Air Bender, and Dragon Ball lol
Zaheer's defeat was very poetic when you think about it. He not only got taken down by airbenders, but he was chained and slammed back down to the earth after "achieving true freedom" and "no longer being bound to this earth".
Air Avengers!! I actually viewed them more as Air Jedi when I first heard Tenzin explain what their new role was going to be like.
So! To say the least, Korra was put through some real shit and barely made it out alive by the end. What a finale, am I right?!
That ending also was really bittersweet. I was so happy for Jinora and was even hopeful, but then you see Korra sitting in that wheelchair looking so depressed and not being her usual spunky, fiery self... and it's just really unsettling. It actually took me back to the start of the series when as a kid, she confidently declared "I'm the Avatar, and you gotta deal with it!" Well, it looks like she's finally realizing the weight of those words, and she looks broken.
B1: Korra loses her bending
B2: Korra loses her past lives
B3: Korra loses her physical capabilities
B4: Korra puts herself back together??
Korra defeats him with the very chains that he binds her with.
It's also been established since S1 finale that Korra isn't a "mentally strong" person for lack of a better term, as she tries to off herself when she loses her bending. Cause she thinks having 1 out of 4 elements somehow makes her less of an Avatar (ridiculous I know) But it speaks volumes to how much she's built her whole identity as being the Avatar and it's obvious she cares deeply about what others think of her. So she can't envision life as not being the ideal perfect Avatar. Which is so sad and I just want to give her a hug 😭
B4: kinda....?
@@BhlackBishop I honestly want to give her a hug too! And also tell her that there's more to her than just being the Avatar!
Your comments are what’s poetic. For me, LOK helped me thru the darkest years of my life. I saw what she dealt with and knew I was able to overcome mine. And not just that but I was able to understand Bryke’s style of writing for this series. So much respect for what they did especially after following a wonderful series that was ATLA. They knew the risks with the fan base. But glad they took them. The storytelling is so deep and beautiful.
I don't really see Ghazan killing himself as a "bitch move". The dude spent 13 years in prison. That's not me saying his actions were right, and I understand the circumstances around the specialized prisons, but I don't exactly agree with how they were imprisoned. Ghazan held onto his beliefs of true freedom so strongly, that he would sooner kill himself then allow himself to be out back in a wooden box in the middle of the ocean for another 13 years.
Trevor Hale
Could be worse, at least he wasn't in solitary to the same extent as some of the others.
Yeah it was ride or die.
He could have escaped through digging underground. I mean, I would if I was an earthbender, lol
Yeah...agreed. Love the Normies but they don't easily pick up on subtleties or implications. (Even when they do, they tend to way overanalyze it)
lombax316 yeah clueless
Remember, Korra doesn't have the "knowledge" of the previous avatars in her Avatar State anymore, it's just her and Raava, kinda like Avatar Wan
Edit: And that's probably why she goes all berserk in the State here, she was just a powered up Korra and you know her... She's pretty feisty
U mean the knowledge
@@bigty390 Knowledge is power
@@Aati_Gumer Nah the power is rava
That does not mean much. 99% of Aang in Avatar state was him going berserk or not being in control of it.
I always assumed her going berserk was because the poison was making her lose sanity.
I just realised it’s like the opposite of Aang vs Ozai. This time it’s an evil air bender vs the avatar using fire rockets.
Ikr u are a genius
Take my like and get outta here
That was sort of the point.
Legend of Korra definitely has its issues but to people that say the show is complete trash are out of their minds. The last few episodes and this one especially is some of the most epic and heartbreaking stuff in both ATLA and LOK. Its sooo freaking good.
Opinions
Not as good as atla
@@engrRGV Doesnt have to be. Not everything has to be a competition. Thats what people dont understand. They think LoK has to be as good as or better to be considered good. As if its an all or nothing battle. Its not. The writers of LoK made it very clear that LoK is not AtLA, nor should it!
i just watched season 1. I started Season 2 but it was boring af so i stopped
@@Schock_TV You should finish. It gets so amazingly good. Youre missing out lol.
If legend of Korra came out instead of ATLA, literally no one would be trashing on it like they do. It would have been THE animated show, but because everyone just wants to keep harping on how ATLA was better, they can't appreciate how good this was. Even Nickelodeon didn't appreciate what they had with this show.
Andrew Paga'n Truer words have never been spoken!
yep its a great show I hope that maybe if the live action sucedess we can see a third avatar series with an Earthbender
or a series with a couple episodes dedicated to a bunch of avatars like Roku's episode or Wan's episode
I really didn't expect how much i would love this series waaay more than avatar , for me ATLA was overhyped and i couldn't even finish season 1 in mounths it countains a lot of boring episodes in return season 2 was good and season 3 was so good but overall a good series but i enjoyed TLOK way more and i finished it in one week i didn't expect it to be that good the only down side is the beginning of season 2 and the love triangle annoyed me more in season 2 than in season 1 apart from that it was so fucking good
Just Be Free it was a good show. I related to lok more too cuz of the more adult content. But I feel like s4 kinda was left unfinished. 12 eps per season also doesn’t give enough time for good character devolepment. Like I wish they gave a s5 too properly rap things up and show what korra did. Overall still good
@@anowarmahmud4399 i disagree what made atla boring for me are those unacessary episodes so i don't want that for korra 12 episodes were satisfying enough for me each season and made it more enjoyable but i agree season 4 felt flat and it felt like there is more to the story that we were given and ATLA felt complete and perfect at the end
This show was really well done despite all the crap they writers and animators had to go through.
Taking the show off air in the last season was such a pisstake
Agreed. The writers absolute excelled despite the circumstances
@@morgenwilliams8447 tbh I don't blame Nickelodeon as much as parents who report this kind of stuff for being too dark for their kids. A lot of parents don't bother to learn what their kids are watching, and Nickelodeon kind of promises parents that everything on there is someone suitable for say an 8-10 year old.
Book 2 was the only weak one in my opinion. I love Book 1,3 and 4.
I agree it had so much potential if it was guaranteed a number of seasons, I hated that season 1 tied up all it's ends instead of setting up the future of the show
Korra is really the opposite of Aang,
Aang doesnt want to become the Avatar, so he ran away, and from book 1 to Book 3 He is becoming a Great Avatar.
Korra really wants to be the Avatar, but from book 1 to book 3, its just getting more worse, from book 1 She Lost her bending, Book 2 She Lost her connection to the past avatars, finally book 3 she's in a wheel chair :(
@@Fordo007 yeah, now i know why the title is "The Legend of Korra" not "Avatar the legend of Korra"
because she became a legend of who she is not what she is as the avatar
@Nizar Ghifari Fajrian: Also, the title mentions HER name, as opposed to "Avatar: The Last Airbender" :)
Nizar Ghifari Fajrian that and the Blue Aliens movie trademarked the word Avatar, so they couldn’t use it
Uhm excuse me, at least she is facing the problem. And she jusy saved an entire nation. Aang would do the same
The only thing that makes this show good are the VILLAINS, and not the main Protagonist.. that's why aang is still a better avatar than korra..
I always liked the contrast between Korra vs. Zaheer and Aang vs. Ozai.
When Aang entered the Avatar State, the fight was basically over. When Korra enters the State, it's actually a bad thing, and she doesn't win without help.
dr4c0blade Yeah right. If you are poisoned then you dont think about what your doing. Aang had all the time and concentration to finish Ozai off. Korra on the other hand is slowly dying inside so she dont think she just attacks.
She also didn't have her pass lives just pure power from Rava and her own abilities
Exactly. Aang's in control of that fight the whole time, while Zaheer is the one in control against Korra, thanks to the poision. That's why it's such a contrast.
@@dr4c0blade Aang wasn't in control. That was his past lives do it for him. He only stop his past lives from killing Ozai.
Give credit to Korra, she didn’t have her past lives helping her at all. That was just her and Raava.
Final scene is brutal and so bittersweet. LIke, Korra's single tear is like a shank in the heart. Like what has this girl sacrificed since Book 1? Like a complete loss of innocence and it seems like no matter how much she grows---it's not enough. In this regard---I respect Korra's journey waaaaaay more than Aangs.
notice how atla comment sections don't need fans to doggedly defend it 😂
Aang was a badass by rite and he was genuine, Korra thought she was a badass(she kinda was) in this 'peaceful' era but had to fimd out the hard way how things truly are... I think alot of ppl understood that scene more than they thought...to be broken and completely weak but whats great is that Korra finds light at the end of this TOPH tunnel ;)
QUI Z lmao so true
Agreed
Absolutely, in terms of the overall series I think that ATLA and LOK are very close, but as individual characters Korra is miles ahead of Aang, she progresses and learns way more than he does and is a far more interesting character.
ATLA is an amazing show, but it relies on its supporting characters more than it does on Aang, whereas Korra is a larger part of the focus in LOK. (Even though LOK still has some great supporting characters.)
i remember when i watched korra v zaheer, i had chills the whole time cause it was so reminiscent of aang v ozai
Yea best American animation I ever seen
Reminiscent, yes, but their roles and attitudes were reversed. Korra was the one who went berserk and Zaheer was the balanced one. Had Korra not had help, she was done for. This fight gives a lot to ruminate over.
PristinePerceptions if she wasn’t poisoned she would’ve beaten Zaheer without too much difficulty
And can I mention the resemblance of those high stones 😂😂
I remember watching it too as soon as it aired. It was hype af.
The final battle with the Red Lotus was, indeed, earth-shattering and shocking!
Seriously though, this episode solidifies The Legend of Korra as a more-than-worthy successor to Avatar: The Last Airbender! The cinematography and direction for the action AND the dramatic moments was completely on-point! With the final battles of Mako and Bolin versus Ming Hua and Ghazan reaching their child-unfriendly climaxes, I can honestly say that I don't blame Mako for killing Ming Hua. I mean, we've seen how deadly she is, and he was on her turf, so he had to end things quickly. Also, while Bolin and Ghazan had a pretty even match, the tide shifted real fast when Mako came to assist his brother. Ghazan's following suicide was not something I would call a "bitch move," especially since it was motivated by 13 years of being imprisoned all alone, in the middle of the ocean. It's actually pretty messed up, considering he was the most laid-back member of Zaheer's inner circle. Even Asami has a badass moment, when she swiftly and brutally takes down that Red Lotus earthbender guard!
Also as dark and cruel as it was, I really love how well-done the scenes are, with Korra chained up and in agonizing pain from the poison. Thanks to the animation and the voice-acting by Janet Varney, Korra's suffering was really hammered home! But the real kicker, was Korra's trippy-ass hallucination of her past enemies, and the reiteration that they all shared a singular belief, that the Avatar is no longer needed in the world.
Oh, and if you want to talk about excellent direction, the final fight between Korra and Zaheer mesmerizes me, no matter how many times I watch it! The animation, the music, and the choreography was just wonderful! Obviously, the setting and the flying around was a nod to Aang's fight with Ozai in ATLA, but there's absolutely nothing wrong with that. Thanks to Jinora stepping up and taking charge, she was able to help Korra win that fight. She's finally got her tattoos and is a certified airbending master.
FUN FACT: Jinora is 11-years-old here, while Aang was 12 when he got his tattoos, thus making HER the youngest airbender in history to become a master!
Regarding the ending, it's even more painful because it's the culmination of all that Korra had endured up until this point. It's hard enough, being an Avatar in a society that is rapidly evolving and progressing towards technology; but to make matters worse, all of her enemies truly believed--in addition to their own ambitions--that the world doesn't need an Avatar at all. The reason Korra is so miserable, is because that's starting to sink in. She barely managed to defeat Zaheer, but the experience has left her unable to fight, or care for herself. Ironically, it was Tenzin's well-intentioned speech about the airbenders protecting the world while she recovers, that wound up twisting the knife.
Korra has been broken... Emotionally and physically.
Now, to address more of the asinine garbage that I've heard from Korra haters, in regards to the ending. I've seen people hate on Korra for some stupid reasons, but there are people who have called Korra selfish, because she became depressed and wheelchair-bound. Seriously, there are motherfuckers out there who actually said that shit!
Let's examine five things from this episode...
1) Korra had mercury forced into her body, THROUGH HER FUCKING SKIN PORES!!!
2) She endured excruciating pain, in order to prevent herself from entering the Avatar State!
3) As the poison ravaged her body, she suffered hallucinations of all of her previous enemies telling her that she has no reason to exist!
4) Despite being in horrible agony, she Hulks out and goes apeshit on Zaheer, who managed to send her falling from a height that possibly broke a number of bones (at this point, the ONLY thing that kept her going was the Avatar State, combined with her sheer willpower)!
5) After the battle, she's seen in a wheelchair, unable to do something as simple as dress herself without Asami's help, and she's hit with the realization that maybe the world really doesn't need her after all.
Even with the previous five points I made about the absolute HELL that Korra endured, people had the nerve to say that she's SELFISH!
I know TLOK has its share of problems--especially in the first two seasons--but the misconception that Korra is a terrible character, who doesn't learn anything, or have any real development, it's just bullshit!
No spoilers, Book 4 is great. It starts to pay off how the consequences of book 2 flow into book 3, and then furthermore into book 4. Korra's progression throughout the books is one of my favourite aspects of the show. Whether book 3 is better than book 4 is really subjective. I think the pacing in book 3 might be a bit better. The tension build up is slow and steady and pays of amazingly in the end. In book 4, it's maybe a little more uneven. BUT, in book 4 I feel there are many more moments of cheers and tears.
Now I wait for "Korra Alone"
same
Pajama Llama their already on episode 6 on Patreon
I know right! This final and korra alone are my favourite episodes of Korra!
Zuko alone is still a million times better.
Same
Book 3 from Korra is the best book of both shows in my opinion. The fights, characters and plot is on point and the fact that there are characters dying make it that much better.
I agree--it's sad that death has to increase the value of a show but it's so true, LMAO.
Agreed, it was amazing.
If it was 20 or 21 Epsiodes we could've had more character development with Ghanzan and Ming hua and flashbacks to the red lotus.
deph xd Yeah I'm so glad they didn't Deus ex like they did for Aang at the end of ATLA
The pacing is the best, but I don't think there's one episode in season 3 I would put into the top 5.
When you think about it, Korra getting into the avatar state after seeing the visions of her previous enemies is actually a sad scene. She grew up having this mentality that she's the avatar, an omniscient being capable of protecting and bringing impactful changes to the world. Yet in that scene, the visions of her past villains (and by extension, her actual past villains in her retrospect) made her question the avatar's importance to the world. They made her question her value---her place in their world. Does she still matter? It was a huge slap in her face.
When she entered the avatar state (i.e. when finally "let go") she basically accepted that she's no longer needed, that she's not a loss, that her presence as the avatar won't make any difference anymore. The ceremony for Jinora was the icing on top of it all. There's this new group of airbenders vowing to help the world, and she's crippled. That's a big "fuck you" to Korra, whose personal identity is greatly anchored to being a powerful avatar.
Out of all the deaths in this series, I’ve gotta say Ming’s death is the most brutal.
Just hearing her scream is horrifying.
Sancheezy I know! That scream was horrifying!
How come Mako never tried doing that before?
@@JimmySteller plot. There are lots of situations where characters could use the full potential of their abilities and win the fight easily/early. Earth especially with simply suck people into Quicksand. Same with water by freezing it completely after a hit like Eska & Desna did a couple of times. Air benders could technically create so much pressure around their enmies bodies to stop them from any movement. Fire is the only one that is kinda presented weak, especially because its a kids show and burn damage barely exists.
One thing worth noting... for all he speaks of freedom, Zaheer only fights Korra while she's in chains. There's some hypocrisy there.

Big Bosseseses aw keep crying
I can't watch that last scene without getting emotional. It's so beautiful but sad.
Korra is such a strong willed & tough skinned person. Seeing her emotionally and physically broken is hard to watch.
Korra goes through the best avatar character development... She's become a broken avatar up yo this point... Book 4 is some return of the Jedi type vibes for her comeback
Different Era, Different Avatar.
I second. I love Aang but Katara and Zuko were the ones that drove the character development for ATLA (Aang does have development but not as dynamic and authentic as Katara and Zuko), in this series Korra is the one driving it.
My "problem" with Aang's journey is that it's... still treated as something childish up until the very end of the show. I mean, only two episodes before the end the whole "I don't want to kill the Fire Lord" becomes a thing, while it was never a question raised through the show (even with different characters, like Aang having to "give justice" to someone and that being adressed already). No, on ATLA who have characters' deaths (like idk random soldiers in the Comet episode, or even on book 1 during the Water Tribe war and all) treated like "ehhh who cares?" and then all the sudden it's supposed to be a moral value to Aang's character? I mean... don't get me wrong, I love Aang's "moral" of not killing people and how the show solved it (turtle ex machina). But why isn't it more on the show? Why isn't it a bigger journey for Aang, who is the main character? I love book 3 Aang, but up until like two episodes before the end of book 2, Aang has barely no evolution and that's sad (which is something that kinda bothers me about Zuko tho, because Zuko had such an extensive storyline that it seems that some people thought he was the main character - even to the point of shipping him with the "main girl" even tho she showed feelings for Aang the whole time! - while he's not supposed to be. So it kinda seems like Aang's evolution was sacrificed for Zuko's. I mean, okay they were meant to parallel each other for the whole show, but Zuko has like way more evolution than Aang).
Korra's journey is flawless. I mean, even the love triangle has something of... teenage-y and naive and seeing the characters move on from it in such a mature way is like... yeah part of growing up and growing up as a person who will, someday, be able to accept love.
@@MARYWTHER for the "who's the main character?" question for ATLA I'd say it's not so much a person but a thing. The ATLA series imo is more about the epic journey, world building, and the state of the world. If I had to choose what the main character was in ATLA I'd say it's The Avatar. NOT AANG the Avatar but the Avatar spirit Ravaa. Think about it. Even though we don't know anything about Ravaa during ATLA the whole story is how Aangs avatar spirit is guiding him in his life. Aang doesn't have agency as say Zuko or even Saka because Aang isn't the real driving force of his life it's "his avatar spirit". He's constantly trying to master his avatar state or channel his passed avatars for wisdom or following his deep moral code which is a direct reflection of what Ravaa is or trying to follow some cosmic rules about how the avatar should or shouldn't be. Korra, on the other hand, starts with that same feeling but as she learns more about the avatar spirit and learns what the avatar really is and as she is striped completely of what that means to her as a person by her enemies, she becomes more and more the center of the story with each season. It's no longer a story about WHAT the avatar is the force (ATLA) but WHO the avatar is personally (LOK) as a human being really dealing with the contemporary issues of their time and understanding the weight of those issues. And that's what I find so genius about it. They HAD to know at least a general idea of how this was all gonna play out 'cause it's too in sync throughout. (Pacing issues aside because we all know that Nickelodeon screwed the creators for time. If they actually had the time to pace the story correctly than Korra would have been twice as heavy and epic but the pacing kills a lot of the moments that should be better.)

"They need to make a live action version”
I've never understood the desire to turn animation into live action. Isn't animation already a fantastic artform? Why not use the resources you'd put into adapting animation to live action to instead make more animation.
Yeah I don’t get the obsession either. Most things suffer when turned into live action. Animation is so fluid and amazing to watch, live action would just make it like any other show.
Thank youu I was thinking the exact same thing it really annoyed me when he said they should turn it into live action.
As an animator it upsets me when people view live action as superior when they don't realise animation takes way more effort and time and is just as good or even better than live action
I think it's more about, "what would this look like if it was real", type of thing. Like when I watch a movie with living actors I can understand what their doing in physical space. With animation they use perspective, tints, and shadows to create depth and the illusion of physical space. For me, at least, I think it'd be cool to see a live action not for the acting or story telling but just to see how it would look if these people and powers were real and existed. Yes illustrated mediums can produce very fantastical worlds and beings but to see one as if right in front of you is different than watching a moving drawing no matter how masterfully done. And I think that's what the attraction is.
the only way it could be done was a frame for frame recreation with a lot of cgi and hollywood money. even then it still wouldn't be the same.
It's way better than live action
the comparison to the aang vs. ozai has me shook because the enemy in this season is in airbender and korra mainly bends fire, which is the exact opposite of ozai vs. aang. it highlights how completely opposite aang is to korra and how they’re character arcs are so unique and diff
The creators confirmed that Aang died of old age. He died at a biologically younger age than previous avatars because he was suspended in the iceberg for 100 years while in the Avatar State. So although he died at a young age, like in his 60s, he was technically 160.
Remember in season 2 when Aang talks to Tenzin in the Fog of Lost Souls and he looks much older than in the flashbacks from season 1? The older Aang from season 2 is what I imagine he looked like/how old he was when he died because Tenzin remembers him that way.
if aang was never in iceberg does not mean he could’ve of died earlier?
@@onyeagubama1972 It wasn't the case of him being in the iceberg. It was the case of him being in the Avatar State while being in the iceberg. Being in the Avatar State for 100 years shortened his life
Kuruk was the youngest Avatar death at 33 years old.
Kuvira actually was introduced in the first episode and appeared throughout the season in varying capacities. Go back and watch the ep where Lin is reading the newspaper and you'll find a picture and article written on her. Also, Book 4 had budget cuts, so be prepared for animation quality dips.
Except for the finale!
Yea I wish they mention her sooner tho
Kuvira was introduced in the first episode with Zao Fu. She is in the dancing lotus group.
@EternalLeave nah, there is a very noticeable dip in ep 1 where Bolin and Mako reunite and there's much less detail all around. The bandit-busting scene was also much more choppy than usual. The fight with Toph was low-quat (although that can be written off as representative of Korra's physical and mental state. "I feel like I'm tentative and out of sync"). There's a missing frame when Ikki is yelling at Meelo and Jinora, ie look at her hair. Also, on the Beifong rescue mission when they're looking at Zoafu from above, Lin's mouth is terribly animated and they cut to just dialogue before it goes on for toooo long, but it's still jarring. The overall animation quality of Book 4 was defo worse than Book 3, but again, budget cuts AND the studio worked on this immediately after Book 3, so im sure they were tired af

@Just a Man Trying To Learn
When does he cut them off? And how does he not pay attention? He always does.

Mickey was able to foresee many things that's gonna happen before they watch the episode. He was pretty good ^_^
Korra definitely had one of the most challenging yet rewarding arcs in avatar. Whilst Aang felt invincible, Korra was the antithesis of vulnerability. To see both sides of someone not wanting to be the avatar but rising to the responsibility, but equally, somebody knowing nothing but being the avatar and having that stripped away. Genuinely makes this, in my opinion, the best story I've ever seen and hopefully will see done justice live action!
Aang invincible? O.o
Did you forget the season 2 finale? He got knocked out all the time. In the first half of the season 3 finale he definitely wasn't invincible too.
@@Sandkasten36 people just think they know when they dont know. Korra stayed the same head on shit through the whole seriers, aang grew and mature more and became more wiser like avatar is suppose to do. Korra never grew, she stayed the same head on and everytime she uses the avatar state or the ravvas state she got her ass kicked. In the last airbender, the avatar state was an all rare power even with the previous avatars and it was very dangerous and powerful especially when emotional. The first thing korra does with it, is use it to win a race. Korra has the worst story and character development and she never develops at all. Aang acted like a child, wanting to have fun and be a kid but as the story went on, we saw him grow, becoming more wiser and more matureand become the avatar. Korra never grew. The story sucked as every avatar, the duty of an avatar is to go on the avatar journey and seek the world as they go upon their masters to learn the different elements, every avatar has done that including aang, korra didnt go on any journey and she was already had 3 elements as a child while every avatar including aang became the avatar at his teen age. And no that doesnt mean korra was the more powerful, it was lazy writing for not developing a head on character like korra to a wiser and more noble, more mature avatar as the avatar is suppose to be. Every avatar started off with their own problems but they all ended up the same cause thats what their duty to be the avatar is suppose to be. Korra literally went out with the entire avatar team, because they couldnt decide which character should be with korra so they were like fuck it, have be with everyone in the group. And korra having trouble with airbending made no sense. Korra is a waterbender, water is calm and gentle so it should have been easy for her to airbend as air is light and ease. Fire bending should have been the hardest for her cause as water is calm and gentle, moving with the flow of water, fire is destructive and raw. So fire bend should have been the hardest as aang was air to earth because has air is light and ease, light on your feet, earth is heavy. So aang had trouble switching from air light to earth heavy. The same should have been with korra having trouble switching from water calm and gentle to fire destructive and raw. It would be the same if the avatar was an earthbender, it would be hard to go from earth to air
Aang being a 12 year old Air bending master in a world that had not seen a a airbender in 100 years gave him that feeling of invinciblilty early on. He was so small and so fast and such a great airbender nobody was able to deal with him at first.
@@JoeyDChosen1 i like the way some korra fans are loud and wrong😂
Ted flips atla fans*
She didn't break her legs, right before her fall she softened the landing with airbending
personally, it didn't look like she softened much of that fall. she definitely broke some bones there, I physically cringe everytime I see that part
@@janvi.suresh sure, but that's not why she's in a wheelchair. The poison crushed her body from the inside, her will, and something called destiny is the only reason she is alive, so her body might as well be "dead". I just don't want the normies to reach the conclusion from the wrong path.
Why are you guys acting like that theory is ridiculous? You guys act like the Normies have already watched this show a dozen times like you guys
@@janvi.suresh it was the poison that put her in the wheel chair
I just listened to the director's commentary. They said that Korra was hurt in that fall, and the air cushion was too little too late to save from injury completely. They also said that the poison took a large toll.
Korra I feel like at the final scene she's literally lost everything. From the very first episode she was excited to be the avatar, to go out and solve the worlds problems. But ever since the beginning, she's been told that the avatar isn't wanted or needed. And while she's done a lot, every one of her actions has had dire consequences. After having her bending taken in book one, her uncle (Yeah, you probably forgot he was her uncle) being killed by her hands in book 2 after he literally cut off her connection to her past lives, and finally here you have her not only losing the use of her legs, but being told 'don't worry, we'll do you job from now on' by her family. Her very identity is gone and what's left? At that moment, she felt like she was nothing. But that's just my opinion...
I bawled like a baby when I saw Jinora with her tattoos and how much she looked like Aang 💕
This is why I love these guys and why there's no comparison with other reaction channels (including blindwave, come @ me). This is family. Not sure if they brilliantly market their channel this way or not, but regardless I feel like I'm watching this with my best friends in the living room, not at some roundtable with notebooks.
They're not afraid to express themselves-cry, laugh, scream, act goofy-but still give great analysis and theories at the end. Whoever's reading this, I know you've laughed, cheered, smiled or teared up at least once along with them just as I did. lol.
I couldn't agree more. I love blind wave as well, but their reactions for this series disappointed me, they compared EVERYTHING to ATLA and i would get so mad because they wouldn't enjoy korra and her story, every character was compared too and it was frustrating. The only one who didnt do that was shane which is why i feel he enjoyed it more than the other 3.
@Just a Man Trying To Learn I didn't put them down just said there's no comparison. LOL. They both approach from completely different angles. I myself prefer the best friend/family movie night approach of the normies over a round table analysis
@Just a Man Trying To Learn and what's your point? I have a preference for the way the Normies does it.
LMAO if you say so
Yes, The Normies are easily the most passionate about this universe, compared to any other reactors.
HOLY SHIT BOTH EPISODES BEFORE I WENT TO WORK! This was the best finale ever. I cried so much during this. Book 4 is called balance and it was amazing to! Cant wait to watch those!
Yea Avatar is the best American made cartoon since DC cartoons

9:38 is honestly one of the best animated sequences I've seen in TV history. The way the background moves with the characters as they attack each other and fly around is fucking nuts. The camera movements are something that wasn't possible ten years ago with animated TV. I would kill for this sequence with a movie budget BAH GAWD
I absolutely love how emotional you guys get while watching the avatar universe. I fully relate to your emotions. This season was some of the best TV I have ever seen. Zaheer and his crew is one of the absolute best villain crews ever. I teared up seeing the airbender ceremony. The music, and the wind chimes were fantastic. My tears were flowing with Korra at that last shot. I'm so proud and happy for the creators of this universe. They created some incredible beauty.
You guys have helped me reconnect with ATLA and Korra. ATLA is probably my favorite show ever, and this is very very high on my list too! Thanks for keeping it real. I appreciate that your reactions feel natural and not over the top.
The thing is, The fact that Jinora looks just like Aang reminds Korra that she's still not had as much of an affect on the world as him. She feels powerless on the wheelchair and unable to help anyone. Unable to be the Avatar. shaved Jinora looks just like Aang. And she's the one, along with other air benders that will be doing what Korra can't. That +plus her whole PTSD after the poisoning and almost death while in the Avatar state- Its bad. Even though in book two she had her soul ripped from her and slapped on the ground like a paper blanket. Aang fixed the world by fixing it. Korra kept saving it by destroying parts about it (her connection to the other avatars) That's a lot of weight for one person. And to think that Aang never wanted to be the Avatar, unlike Korra who made it her entire purpose.
This deserves more likes.
You. You are one of them. The people who can appreciate this story for what it is and not for not being TLA. Thank you. Love this show just as much as the original, and sometimes more.
Not as much of an effect? She stopped a quasi-fascist takeover led by a man stronger than his father who gave a fully grown Aang considerable trouble. Stops a civil war. Reunited the spirit and human worlds. Beat Vatu stopping 10,000 years of darkness and destruction (literally a feat only 1 other avatar has). And revived a whole bending nation by this time. And then goes on to stop a power-hungry dictator.
Perhaps she feels this way during the scene given she is depressed and struggling with PTSD, but it is certainly not the case.
@@theonlyonewithgum1452 Yes, you are correct, Korra had a significant affect on the world and I love her character- What I tried to say here is more metaphorical and I guess I didn't word it that well- This here was in book 3, and the two previous books had a significantly smaller affect on OUR world than aang's. Obviously Korra feels crushed by the poisoning and the ptsd and everything she's gone through, but what made a huge impact on her mental health was the fact that she, from a young age, made her entire purpose to be the avatar and help people. At this point she's handicapped and unable to help. The airbenders, represented by Jinora in this scene visually, are the ones that are going to take care of the world in her absence and Jinora looks just like aang who got way more love than korra in *our* world. Factually, Korra has done more than any avatar before her in the shortest time. And in our world, AFTER this season, she had a significant affect on animation on the topic of representation. but aang was always more praised and respected simply *because he was aang*. I'm not Degrading aang with this, I love aang, but he ended up more respected and needed despite not wanting to be needed as the avatar. Korra was rejected by figures of power like president Raiko because "the world didn't need her" despite the fact all of her purpose was this. Even in book one when she loses her bending she loses what is in her mind her purpose. Which is why she hits her lowest point. Which is why she walk to that cliff. Which is why, visually, it's aang that saves her. In her mind, it's aang that saves her, for the viewer, it's aang that saves her. But symbolically, she saves herself. Korra isn't perfect, neither is aang,,, no avatar is, no character is. But she's treated inferior by her peers and the fandom simply because she's not aang and Jinora is the visual representation of that. "you can't be the avatar effectively anymore, you can't even save yourself, we're going to save the world for you and look like aang while doing so" Korra's visual representation of her ptsd is herself during the zaheer battle because from a visual and symbolic standpoint the problem for everyone is simply the fact she is Korra and not Aang. I'm rambling, I apologize, but I hope I made it more clear- l love both aang and korra and they shouldn't be compared since they're both great and very different characters BUT from a strictly symbolic standpoint there's a very good reason this scene looks the way it does. Nothing just happens randomly in animation :)
@@kallianthi3335 I appreciate your response. I was just reading a lot of Korra hate in another comment thread, so maybe I was seeing red a little and wasn't being charitable. I'm sorry. Also, I strongly agree with your conclusions in this clarification.

I wish Katara was there for the ceremony. Jinora looked so much like Aang it would of reminded her of him
zaheer best villain in the series bar none
Yup
I still prefer Azula. Because not only do I know what she's about like I do for Zaheer, but I know exactly how she came to be who she is, and how she can be broken (Zaheer just loses it cause his plans got thwarted... That's understandable but not as interesting). Azula might be my favorite villain in any show though so of course I'd choose her xD
Aesahethr yeah but understand azula was born in top position with the fire nation ruling everything unlike red lotus who were criminals on the run from the get go azula had resources of her nation to help hunt the avatar and her mother relationship was her downfall but with zaheer he literally became a threat by just busting out of prison and getting a group of powerful benders and he did all this damage in a matter of days he didn't really lost it he was just pissed cause it was checkmate really
I'don't see how what you're saying has anything to do with being a good villain? A good villain is a villain who's a good character in a way that resonates with their terrible actions. Azula is a more developed character than Zaheer (although her philosophy is less apparent because she doesn't rant about it all the time) so she's a better villain to me, it's as simple as that.
Aesahethr yeah i understand i just saying to me zaheer is culutred precise and very well executed in as a threat who had very different beliefs of airbender who took freedom to the extreme azula while threat will always remain a princess of a tryant who had mommy issues
I don’t know if it’s true but I read somewhere that korra can lift over 70 tons in the avatar state that’s how she broke the chain
The ending scene always destroys me
The avatar can't transfer your powers to another person, because, you NEED to touch the spiritual portal during the harmonic convergence with Raava inside of you for this happen, if you just put Raava in your body without doing that you will just die.
Yeah they totally missed the “you have to touch the spirit portals to fully fuse” thing because when Unalaq did it to fuse with Vaatu, they were like “What is he doing?”.

something i love about this episode that isnt really talked about is @ 7:45 . Hes always had this for a strength, but never as an opposition.

@@rachelespiritu4215 I think the break in of the earth king's castle is really underrated. It's pretty short and low stakes but the pacing and choreography are so perfect and each character gets their perfectly placed little moment.
There is a lot of people comparing Aang and Korra in the comments so let me just state these FACTS:
They were born with different privileges (Aang was born a monk, discovered he was the Avatar at early teens and was encased in ice shortly after, Korra was found as the Avatar as a toddler and her every need was taken care of from then on).
Their journeys as Avatars started different (Korra had everything she needed and was so BORED she escaped Tenzin, then the Equalist issue showed up shortly after that, Aang's journey as the Avatar started with him waking up fro cryo sleep with NOTHING in his name but his title as Avatar).
Their worlds are different (Korra's world was relatively at peace, Aang's was at total world war).
And finally: Korra's journey was self-realization while Aang's was redemption.
MY OPINION:
To even COMPARE these two characters is stupid. The same way comparing people in real life is stupid. They both have different backgrounds and no to mention, the show runners had different target demographics for each show.
Im glad someone gets it!!
So I heard you want a live action Avatar series. Apparently Bryke heard too!
The Normies are by far my favorite reactors. I’ve learned to love these four especially because they were the first I discovered when I was looking for atla reactions. I’m very glad to see how much you guys grew to love Asami, especially since she faced so much shit in the fandom. That right away made me realize how amazing you all were and how much you value a good character. Also I love that you guys become emotionally invested in the series too. This reaction reminded me of your ATLA finale reactions. You guys aren’t afraid to show your love for the series and the character and seeing you guys get so emotional proves that this series can be so impactful to people the same way it was for me when I was younger.

@@NickDe3 The first season is the best one.
That's the thing about a season long story. doesn't matter if it had the best episodes or the best moments. if there's no consistent and logical progression, the whole season suffers
@Bob Harris I disagree. While Amon was in interesting character it wasn't enough to excuse how the rest of the season was handled. It lacked focus in my opinion. The love rectangle and pro bending distracted from the plot far too much.
"I don't think any poison will make her" I mean.. that's not how survival instincts work. You don't really have control over what your body is willing to do in order to keep itself alive. Like cutting off an arm. Normally, you can't do that. Your jaw also has the strength to bite off your own tongue, but your brain normally inhibits it and subconsciously "locks away" that amount of strength so that you don't do it accidentally.
Or lifting a car off yourself or a baby. The human body is a danger to itself when all it's inhibitors are off, the actual strength you can muster would rip your muscles and tendons, which is why you can't consciously exert that much force, and it only comes out when it's life or death. Same with the avatar state. It doesn't matter if Korra is consciously scared of the avatar state or not. If her body is forced into feeling like she is going to die, the survival instincts will kick in no matter what.
Not to mention, early on when Aang couldnt control the avatar state it only triggered when he was overloaded with anger, or in mortal situations like when he was drowning. He couldnt turn on the state on purpose, it turned on because he was going to die if it didnt.
4 years later...still such a somber ending....Book 3 of Korra.....legendary.
