It aired 5 years ago. It was the first show kid show that hinted at homosexual relationship. The creators were limited to how much they could show.
unless you count sailor moon OG version
From what I remember after this aired originally, the creators said they were concerned about Nickelodeon interfering with Korra and Asami's relationship, so they tried to do as much as they could without actually talking to the higher-ups at the network about it. Afterward, they found out that Nick was actually would have let them show more if they had asked first.
That’s a different situation
On the other hand, Buffy the Vampire Slayer. It was obviously a young adult show rather than a kid show, but they started airing 23 years ago and didn't hesitate to show Willow in relationships with women.

Season 1:
Tarrlok: “See, that’s what I ADMIRE about you, Korra. Your willingness to go to extremes in order to get what you want.”
Korra: “You and I are NOTHING alike!”
Season 4:
Kuvira: “We are NOTHING alike”.
Korra: “Yes we are.”
I love how Korra goes from repulsed at the idea of being a villain, to openly admitting how similar she is to one. Instead of seeing them as soulless, evil-doers, Korra realizes that the ‘villains’ are, in fact, people, and is able to empathise with them.
i mean the only evil main characters were probably ozai and unalaq. the others did a good thing in a very bad way. like the equality, freedom, unity. while ozai and unalaq just wanted power
@@0xVENx0
Agreed. I still think Kuvira wanted power, but it was to help the Earth empire more than personal gain.
@@0xVENx0 I can't get over how badly handled Unalaq was, especially because he had so much potential in the first episode!
I still wish there would be a rewrite of season 2. Unalaq could have been such a good character! An underdog who genuinly wants the spirits to be part of the human world, who sees how disconnected humans have gotten from spirits. The whole 'invasion of the south' thing should either not have happened, or should have been Unalaq being pushed to such an extreme that he feels that invasion is the only way to properly let the Southern Tribe be accustomed to the spiritual presence. Even him fusing with Vaatu should have been a desperate gambit for him, thinking that the only way of guiding the people is to become the new avatar.
Hell, even Vaatu should have been done better. Instead of him and Raava being spirits of light and dark (or, in other words, good and evil) it should have been order and chaos. Both of these extremes are dangerous when put IN extremes, but both need each other.
Unalag shouldn't have been a villain, just a man with really noble ideas but with an inability to realise them on his own, and Vaatu should have been a force of chaos: ever changing, constantly mercurial, but not an evil spirit, just a creature that is pulled and constantly pulls towards an extreme. Raava in the meantime should be order that is tempered, preferably by how she interacts with Wan, who himself is a freespirited human and therefore more inclined to chaos than order. Vaatu's arc COULD have been the same with Unalaq, realising that absolut chaos is more destructive and finding temperance in the human that he fused with. It could have even made for a much bigger change, like that there are now two avatars, or it could have ended with Unalaq tragically dying.
Either way, it SHOULD have been better than it was.
It's because of what Toph tougth her "Amon wanted equality for all, Unalack took brougth the spirits back, and Zaheer figthed for freedom"
Like Toph said, the bad guys weren’t bad, they just took their beliefs to extremes.
"Being the avatar doesn't hurt your chances with the ladies." - wise words of Avatar Roku
First thing said in AtlA was "It's"
Last thing said in LoK was "perfect"
I think that pretty much sums up both series tbh
@I. Th. Haha.
If you count the intro i guess but that's not actual dialogue spoken in the story...
last thing in ATLA is perfect also, which is pretty cool
@@sarveshnathan7559 korra's season 2 pretty much denies it being perfect
Matt Deegan maybe they’ll make an earth avatar story and have him try to restore the link somehow
@@deviljho4260 it wasn't the link that was the problem (for me. Actually, I didn't mind at all. It added room for new characters.) It was the whole, Korra turns into a Blue Spirit Giant and attacks Vaatu, and Jinora light-bends Raava back into existance, then is ripped from the spirit/man's chest. Also, if the Dark Avatar can become that thing, can't the Light Avatar also do it?
I don't get how everyone says Korrasami was "quick" and "out of nowhere" when Makorra literally happened in a few episode when Korrasami spent the whole 3 and 4th season to build up?
Thank you! Someone said it, finally! Another smart person who noticed all of the extremely obvious, in your face yet "small" details that led up to Korrasami 😁
Some people just didn’t see the small hints and thought it was friendship, unlike Makorra they actually showed tension and made it obvious that they liked each other. For example, at the end of episode 2 they show Mako looking at Air Temple island and Korra looking at the stadium showing they like each other and we never got that with Korra and Asami
@@jsxerpa But, to be honest, we didn't need them to share a moonlight stare like Makorra. That's just too arbitrary and tacky in my opinion. And, yes. Korrasami felt like a friendship, but that is personally why I love it so much. Korra, being secluded due to what happened with the Red Lotus, had never known what it was like to be friends with another girl until Asami which was a very important detail to understanding why she hadn't been aware of her true sexuality before meeting Asami. But, of course, Korra wouldn't just jump into a relationship with a female when she's unfamiliar with lesbianism and female relationships. It would be plain unnatural if she just saw Asami as a romantic interest immediately, because that's not how gay people experiencing and understanding gay emotions for the first time act. We aren't fully aware, and we need time to process that we aren't straight before we can just accept that are a part of who we are, and some of us don't want to be upfront with that part of ourselves since it isn't always acceptable in society's eyes. So, Korra builds her relationship with Asami as friends and learns more about her throughout the seasons (much more than what Mako knew about her even after they dated). Later on in season 3 and 4, we start to see signs that do suggest sight romanticism like the fact that despite going through a life crisis, Korra decides to write Asami back since Asami makes her feel the most comfortable and she cares about Asami's feelings and doesn't want her to feel like she abandoned her. Yet, she doesn't care if the others feel that way, showing she doesn't have the comfort or understanding to write Mako or Bolin back. And, plus, Korrasami was Korra's only adult friendship that wasn't based purely on romantic interest seeing as Mako and Korra liked each other and Bolin liked Korra, but Korra and Asami were mutual. They were friends, and since they had an actual, healthy, developing relationship, it proved highly beneficial to have each other in their lives later on when shit hit the fan. So, yeah. Maybe it was hard to see them as kissy lovers, but only because they were platonic lovers. Their love laid in their best friendship, and as new, unknown feelings awoke that they wanted to explore, they found new love in each other and it worked out. Their relationship is more realistic in my opinion. Love shouldn't be defined by an obvious moonlight stare. It should be defined by how comfortable, supported, and wanted someone makes you feel, y'know. 'Cause, those are the things that'll last, and it's the reason why Korrasami lasts and Makorra didn't.
Well mako and Korra weren't the real deal, it was just a, "hey were in close quarters, I'm hot, your hot, we deal with danger together, maybe we should date?" Like when two soldiers hook up on the battlefield. This seems like its supposed to be more of a serious relationship and for that it sort of came out of nowhere.
Well mako and korra had an 2 episodes which were focused on them. 1x03 and 1x05. Those episodes were focused completely on their relationship, especially 1x03.
Korra and Asami just had the episode in the desert in season 3 but never really had a whole episode for each other. In 1x03 you could basically see how Korra started to like mako.
You have to remember this also “aired” around the time same-sex marriage was getting federally legalized. Brike confirmed they are together.

I think the "key" to understand that final Korrasami moment, is to see it as the very begining of a relationship. It's not a final confirmation of eternal love like Aang and Katara, but just two girls who have been developping feeling for each other and are now ready to acknowledge it and explore it together!
Here's the comment I was hoping I wouldn't have to write. Hope the normies sees.
Yes this is it!
What makes the finale special is that it feels more like a new beginning than an ending.
Yes! Exactly! That’s why they didn’t kiss.
You see in the comic “Turf Wars” that they begin to express their feelings for eachother. There’s still confusion but by the end they confirm their love for eachother.
This is a lot more understandable.
Feels more plausible. Because it felt like the reason Korra was in communication with her to begin with rather than Mako or Bolin was due to the lack of romantic involvement with her vs the guys.

If asami were a guy and held korras hand and looked in her eyes no doubt u guys would believe they were a couple.
i think that's less of a cisnormative worldview clouding their vision and more that the romance was weak
@@StrangeCoincidence The hinted things about their relationship for a whole season and people call it weak, while in the first season Korra told Mako she loved him in the first couple of episodes and people didn't care.
Carlos A. Hurtado mako x Korra always felt bad because bolin liked Korra, mako already had a gf and didn't want to hurt bolin... It was wrong for so many reasons. Korra x asami moments in the last season looked just like friendship moments and not romantic. It caught literally everyone off guard. Maybe it's understandable that people thought it was a nonromance given the romantic hints just weren't there and how typically everyone was genuinely surprised.
@@carlosa.hurtado8847 Ya'll are crazy. They showed Korra immediately have interest in Mako and referred to her crush in dialogue. The same way Mako reacted to seeing Asami for the first time by getting flustered. It was a really simple set up for a love interest and execution but it's a lot more visible than the Korra and Asami relationship. Interactions do not exist in a vacuum. The writing being divided between seasons really hurt this series and it makes introducing a new romantic relationship in the last season between platonic pre existing main characters a difficult task. There are no real major intimate moments to indicate their friendship turned romantic. They should have made them work together in finale or put Asami in danger, anything more to supplement the hints would have done it
@@danielj4996 there gave been gay people since the beginning of history and many of them were very important figures that contributed great things to society. You should be more humble.
Korra and Asami went from sort-of-rivals, to bonding over being Makos's ex, then became real friends, then established a romantic relationship. I dont see anything forced about it. Or at least, it's not more forced than any other relationship in the show.

in a way, this finale feels like more of a beginning. Korra is finally mature and is ready to really start fulfilling her avatar duties like how she's supposed to.
It really does, and that's the beauty of these shows. The Books that we see are just one important story of each Avatar's life. It really makes the world feel lived in.
I mean, i'd rather see Korra with Asami than with the brothers. Their relationship kind of started when they both gave up on Mako...
Mako and Korra was just really lame honestly. The brooding guy getting the girl is the most cliché romance story in the world and I've kinda been sick of it way before Legend of Korra even started! And back when season 1 was happening, I was kinda rooting for Korra and Bolin: He's much more likeable and the two of them had actual fun together when they hung out! Now I am glad of how things turned out in the end (Korra and Asami, Bolin and Opal), but I'm just saying, back in season 1, Korra and Mako really made me eyeroll so bad...
ChevaliersEmeraude Yeah, I was rooting for Korra and Bolin too. They never had any real awkwardness or beef, unlike with Korra and Mako. But I do kinda like how it kinda shows how Korra and Asami started out as good friends and developed into kind of their first date.
I think that korra and asami relationship is not going to work personally i think that korra is not a relationship type girl
@@4wz533 they literally kissed in the comics
@@jossue228 so did korra and Mako in the show...
Korrasami is the start of something new, think of that last scene as the start of a first date. People don't kiss at the beginning of a first date, and they don't have a deep relationship. They're just friends who have realized they're attracted to each other and want to try something more and see if it works. Which totally makes sense after the trauma of grief and suffering has made them reconsider their relationships.
This!
People keep saying the relationship happened to fast... it literally just started. They weren't dating the whole time, they didn't do a bad job of hinting at it. The relationship LITERALLY just started.
Best book from korra from best to worst:
Book 1 (best)
Book 3
Book 4
Book 2 (worst)
Book 1= just a little hand full of characters which made it easy for all to shine + a lot of aang so it gives the last Airbender feeling
Book 3 = it was very good at all but too much characters were introduced who couldn't had time to shine: everyone from the red lotus, except zaheer, Asami, Mako, etc. It focued too less on the main characters like Asami and mako. Only korra and all the new characters could shine here.
Book 4 = too much depression. Whey too much. But it was okay. It's not as good as everyone thinks it is. But it's okay. First of all the time period has moved too fast. I mean we only saw 3 books and then we have a 3 year gap? Only Korra has changed in becoming calmer than she was. Everyone else stayed the same: so why this gap if only korra is focused??
I mean in all the other books we had time for the side characters to shine but this book was just about korra and kuvira. Totally.
Book 2: Where the hell are the spirit portals from? We never heard from them in the last Airbender. Everyone who saw the last Airbender thought that only spiritual people can enter the spirit world like aang (bc he is the avatar) or iroh. But it's not possible for all the humans to enter the spirit world!! We never heard from them and we never saw them in book 1 of last Airbender, although we were in the northern and southern watertribe.
Anyways the spirits look so differently from them in last Airbender. I thought we have cool spirits like Hei Bai or Koh. No we have transparent monsters who can change their colors...
And then the story of Unalaq trying to free vatuu. Then raava dies and then not... Korra loses the connection to her past lives... I mean why?? The show should have been like the last Airbender. Roku helped aang and now we wanted to see how Aang can help korra. That's what we wanted to see: how the old generation gibes the lessons to the new one. But no we didn't. We just saw aang two times in book 1 and that's it... He doesn't help korra. Totally stupid.
If you think about it the creator wants Korra and Asami to be a good relationship instead of Mako and Korra or another guy character. It's likely Korra and Asami would get married and I am not a fan of Korra with any Lesbian relationship. DON'T take it in a bad way I am really respect LGBT people in real life but in show it's questionable.
Exactly 👌👌👌 it’s just the beginning of their romantic relationship.
It's been so fun rewatching Korra with you guys, what a ride this was
I've sensed Korasami throughout Book 3. They did some subtle hints. So it didn't really came out of nowhere. Even the fandom were talking about it and shipping them before Book 4 was released.
plus they mention some things in comics
Even the letters, Korra had really been more open to express to Asami FOR THREE YEARS!
Jokes on you guys, Asami says in the comic she fell in love at beggining of book 4 so that "develpment" dont exist
When Korra originally aired my wife and I were watching online, and we called Korrasami near the beginning of book 3. After that it was kind of like a joke, anytime Korra and Asami would have a good team up or moment that could be read as flirty, we’d shout “korrasami!”
If we could make it a regular joke then I don’t think it was too “sudden” or “out of nowhere.”
@@ijimenez1951 So I guess you just fall in love right away huh? You can't be just friends at first and have a deep connection? That is part of the development
Idk if anyone mentioned this, but immediately after this aired the writers wrote a whole thing about how Nick didn't let them do more with Korrasami. Also, I agree that if Asami was a guy it'd be 100% clear they were together. As a bi person who got the ending spoiled, it didn't satisfy me; especially since it didn't air on TV. But any representation in a "kids" show is so important and I definitely think it opened the doors for other cartoons.

@@blazingexil4003 Honestly, that's more on Nick than Bryke because their hands were kind of tied. But honestly if you go back and rewatch the moments I think its easier to detect that their may be some feelings there. The thing is though at the end of the series its not like Korra and Asami are in love. They are just two friends who have feelings for one another and the events of that day made them evaluate those feelings and decide to take that next step. The spirit world vacation is essentially their first date.

korra fighting kuvira in the control room parallels the fight korra had with the earth bender in the first episode of book 4 never noticed that before now
Korra bursting into the command room felt so S1 Korra that it instantly got me both nostalgic and hyped!
Mako's scene was so reminiscent of the last agni kai! The music and bending drowning out everything else, the beautiful contrast with the pink and blue, Mako's fierce resolve, just everything! What I also love about that scene was how he was essentially making good on what he said in "Remembrances" (Korra inspiring him to continually put others before himself) despite the potential consequences. He was willing to sacrifice his life to save everyone, and I was honestly scared for him. As we know, LOK at times isn't afraid to kill off some characters, and I really felt like they were going to finally do it with a member of Team Avatar. I mean, everything was perfectly set up for his death! A part of me was disappointed it didn't happen but another part was really glad it didn't happen. It would've been the first death of a Team Avatar member afterall. I also grew to love Mako by S4 too so there was that.
Speaking of which, if not Mako, I later thought they were actually going to kill Korra in the end and freaked out when it looked like she was dead.
"That's true power"
Exactly! And exactly why Kuvira surrendered to Korra in the end. Korra got down to her level and talked to her. Kuvira was so struck by all of that, most especially because of the understanding and kindness shown to her, that she tells her soldiers to stand down stating that "Korra's power" was "beyond anything I can hope to achieve" (referring to both her impressive strength stopping the superweapon and her profound character). On Korra's part, she has come such a long way both with her spiritual powers and from the hotheaded Korra that wouldn't or couldn't talk things out first.
Now! As for the Korra and Asami (Korrasami) scene. Mike and Bryan confirmed they were a thing a few days after the finale. I basically remember the whole internet imploding because of that ending and confirmation. Personally, I found that ending for the two of them beautiful simply because they both went through so much, yet they were still able to find happiness in the end. It was just very heartwarming. I also had an epiphany about their relationship when it got to that ending. I wasn't a Korrasami shipper, but I always felt like their moments together had something more there but I couldn't explain it. Then everything leading up to when they held hands and walked into the portal confirmed my suspicions for me. Things like "Avatar's Love" playing in snippets, the colors of the bisexual flag in the background of RC, and the whole set up with Korra and Asami looking at each other heavily paralleled Zaheer/P'Li, Kuvira/Bataar Jr., Varrick/Zhu Li and Aang/Katara. Even Asami basically saying she wouldn't be able to handle losing both her dad and Korra too! It just screamed "my feelings for you". So before the official confirmation, I already got the implications of it.
And how I see it with both ATLA and LOK, ATLA was the classic epic hero's journey that ended with a huge bang whereas LOK was more of a personal journey that ended quietly and peacefully. Their respective series ending credits reflects that imo. Overall, I can see the flaws many people may have a problem with in LOK specifically, but I still love it just as much as ATLA. Both shows each brought new things to the table and whether someone prefers one show over the other, I think we can all agree that Avatar as a whole was worth getting into and has affected us all in so many ways.
One last fun fact: Both ATLA and LOK ended with the word "perfect"!! Toph said "I think you all look perfect" and Korra here said "Sounds perfect".

@@felcia2317 They are in youtube for free to watch.
They're pretty disappointing if I'm being honest
@Alex Mckenzie I never said people shouldn't read them just that I didn't like them
Linards Ž thx but I wanted to read them i always find motion comics
Bryke alway said something along the lines they did what they could without Nick vetoing it. The question whether it was underdeveloped or not is a tricky one. On the one hand its an excercise in considering ones own heteronormativity, because they had easily more alone- and screentime than Mako and Korra for example, on the other hand its not a lot to go by in the grander scheme of things. So I think both sides have a valid point here.
Andropedia i like this commen its well written really explains the situation wel
The ending isn't Korra and Asami marrying out of no where it's two women who have grown closer to eachother than anyone else in their lives over the past few years, start something together. The ending isn't them two people in a relationship or even starting one it's two people opening themselves to the prospect of being together, you cannot say it's not developed enough because they aren't marrying or swearing they're undying love. They're literally going on their first date together the second the world has entered a period of peace and they have the time to follow their hearts and not resolve the conflict going on at the moment.
Yeah, exactly that^^
I remember so many people saying it was rushed, but it wasn't like they were marrying or making out with each other like what happened with Kataang (the making out bit). They literally stepped into the new spirit portal together and started something new in their relationship.
@@TheSuperSayahMan You don't have to defend it to ME. I agree with you. But we are not neutral observers of any kind; We wanted to see it. Just look at the average reactors. The final piece of music by Jeremy Zuckerman for the Korra finale never fails to bring a tear to my eyes. The feeling of saying goodbye even though don't feel quite done yet but knowing whatever lies ahead it can all be taken care as long as you have your friends and family besides you.

All I remember from the very Beginning is “this is NOT a kid show”😂😂😂
"That's death"
You're right it's not a kid show
ATLA book one chapter one: Genocide
There actually were plenty of signs that Korra and Asami liked each other as more than friends, but most (strait) people don’t often notice because they are two girls. If Asami was a guy everyone would’ve no doubt picked up on it right away
I love the last dialogue between Korra and Tenzin, part of it being like an inner dialogue between the writers, how they just wanna do more with the show and story but couldn't, and trying to reassure themselves through Tenzin's speech. And then Korra also echoing what any of the fans would feel, that there's so much more we wanna see and Tenzin voicing the writers in how happy they are about us.
It's really sad though, I love Aang and the Last Airbender, but that story felt complete and it was amazing all the way. Korra felt like a really bumpy ride that, and for me had even greater potential than Last Airbender but kept being screwed over in the background. Its overarching story and the more mature nature of it struck me deeper than Aang's story, even if it had mature subjects too. It felt more like a fun and epic story, Korra felt more like a realistic take on the life crisis and turmoils of the Avatar as well as growing up.
Overall LoK had a lot more lovable side characters mostly cause they were actual adults with issues and flaws yet had big impact on the story, instead of usually just seeing kids/teens with issues and portraying adults as morally evil or good concepts, or simply as inferior bland individuals. Tenzin will always remain one of my favourite characters mostly how endearing he is to Korra with plenty of humanly flaws as a person.
I feel the same. Avatar I feel is a better overall story because it was consistent and one coherent thing but Korra was far more personal and varied. It hit home a lot harder because of it. The best comparison I can make is Avatar is like an ancient myth, timeless and universal, while Korra is more like a good book series with more emotion and an evolving world.

The end of The Legend of Korra: "Wait, that was it? What?"
24:24 Rana you go girl, I love you so much, teach them lol
They did what they could get away with.
nah. theres always way to do things in a good way but also be family friendly. it isnt the way it is simply because of restriction
That is such a lazy excuse
They still could have had more screen time together that what we saw in the season
Except it *was* the studio who prevented them from showing more of a relationship, and having the Korrasami pairing in the first place is what got the final season moved over to online-only. It's not that the writers weren't capable of doing more with it, but that the studio wouldn't allow them to air anything more out of fear of backlash. It helps to remember that this aired 4 years ago, and studios airing family-friendly animation were much more restrictive about what they allowed to air back then. I mentioned this in another comment, but Gravity Falls was airing at the same time and its creator had several attempts to portray LGBT characters completely shut down the studio - he was only allowed to include a small scene in the show's finale.
That's one of the problems with working with a publisher, is that the final product is dictated by what they'll allow you to do. So major change requires a certain amount of buy-in from the studios.
bullshit excuse, korrasami was shat out of the blue
8:18 is the moment mickey realized how stupid he sounded whenever he brought up the "just metalbend" thing
Me watching them react to the end of the show: "Bloody hell, I *really* don't want to read the comments."
Making the leap: "Holy shit guys, I'm actually impressed. Well done."
I shipped Korrasami from S3E1 when Korra was down about her poll numbers and Asami was like "WE will figure something out." I feel like S3 was the build up but unfortunately they weren't together much of S4. During the wedding scene I remember seeing them sitting together and thinking "this is it, this is the last time we will see them together" but I was happy to be wrong lol. So yeah, they are a couple and their relationship extends into the Turf Wars comics, with their spirit portal adventures and what they face when their vacation is over and they go back to Republic City.
To me, their romance was done right.. It's not as if they were in love at any point of the show, this realization came only in the very last episode. I like how innocent and subtle it is.
I also find it funny how people complain about Korrasami being rushed, as opposed to... Sokka and Suki falling in love in their first episode, Zuko and Mai randomly being together, Korra and Mako being into each other in their first episode and Varrick and Zhu Li starting a relationship, getting engaged and married all in one episode :D

Can't believe it's over. I enjoyed the Avatar journey.
Well their budget was cut down halfway through animation for the show, so their finale wasn't as epic as they originally planned.

I don’t know why people act like Korrasami was forced. They literally had a build up unlike Mako/Korra or even Mako/Asami. Those two relationship got together over a course of a couple episodes. Korra/Asami’s relationship had a buildup and it literally started in Book 3. They got hella close and even had more scenes in Book 3. Book 3 was literally the start of a “deeper” friendship. And then in Book 4 there was more scenes like the letter scene, blushing scene, the tea scene, and then the finale. Those were hints lmfao. It was quite obvious to me idk. And they’re even canon in the comics 💀
Korrasami was out of Knowere 😂 same with Maiko they never haved a romantic moment just friendly
Ilexis Jimenez But it wasn’t... there were moments between the two of them. They literally spent an entire season of them first becoming best friends lmfao. They even said it in the comics that during the three years Korra was healing was when Asami found out how much she meant to her.

Flamey-o to the Cozy4.
Korrasami is confirmed by the creators - they've said this was as clear as Nick would allow them to show it, and it's even why Nick moved Korra to online-only episodes for the final season, out of fear from backlash if *this* aired on TV. It really shows how quickly animation is moving forward in this regard, as in just the 4 years since Korra aired, other cartoons have managed to successfully push the boundaries even further with LGBT romance, with several full-on kisses and at least one wedding that I know of. Alex Hirsch (creator of Gravity Falls, which aired at about the same time as Korra) has been quite vocal about the tremendous obstacles that prevented him from putting LGBT characters on that show like he wanted to.
As for Korra, if you pay close attention while watching through season 3 and 4, the growing relationship between Korrasami is increasingly hinted at, and becomes kind of obvious in the animation details as season 4 goes on (at least I thought). I probably picked up easier on this because I watched the entire thing with a queer friend, and after every episode we were debating if they would "go there". But all the clues are definitely present if you pay attention - Rana lists a lot of them, but there are even more.
Here's one of the showrunners going into detail about the pairing: bryankonietzko.tumblr.com/post/105916338157/korrasami-is-canon-you-can-celebrate-it-embrace
There is zero evidence that Nick's moving it to digital was connected to this.
The Joker there is a lot of common sense that leads us to believe that though, I personally wouldn’t want backlash from far right probably Christian conservatives complaining about airing the “ewww homosexual sin” on the “main” children’s network
@@asomefacepro I suppose I should clarify- there's no evidence it's the *sole* factor, and plenty to support other factors as being more of the primary cause. The fact was ratings were falling for the TV airtime but exploding online to the point that digital was becoming the biggest venue already for the show. Add on the level of violence of the last few episodes of book 3 and it's highly likely that it would have migrated regardless, although the LGBT factor likely added fuel to the fire.
Brett DuVale fucking tumblr of course
@@tinygrove7623 what
I got chills twice in this finale. One when mako was shooting his lightning to explode the core and second when korra blocked the spirit beam from the laser. The music in both moments we so perfect and so impactful it made the moment extra amazing!
Books 3 and 4 have a lot of hints of Korrasami. I watched the show for the first time this year and I already knew that they were going to end up together so I tried to see if there were any hints that would show their relationship. Books 1 and 2 didn't have much (though Book 2 might've had some), but Books 3 and 4 definitely developed their relationship. People only think it comes "out of the blue" because anytime they see them together, it's always just, "Oh! Look! They look like such good friends."
The show may not be perfect but it still a great show with a great story and beautiful animation and amazing battles. We got to see how the avatar world envolved after Aang had passed away and saw a new age. In general, this whole series including Aang story was just PERFECT.

Ps. Now that you've done this episode my joke from like 9 episodes ago makes sense right!? Haha. "A game of rock, paper, scissors between korra, asami, and mako. Mako throws rock, korra and asami throw scissors." 😉
I would normally agree that characters should die if their story is leading up to it, don't fake us out with that, but in this case, it would have been out of character for Bolin to let that happen.
They originally planned on Mako dying, but they worried about "invalidating" Korra and Asami's relationship by doing that. They didn't want viewers to think "Oh well since Mako died they got together" I read this in an interview shortly after the finale They didn't want some to devalue the pairing and think of it in the negative way of a grief pairing or a 'last ditch effort' pairing. If Mako died there, perhaps some people would think Korra and Asami would not have been together if Mako stayed alive. They didn't want that. I still see what you're saying though, even a Tenzin death would have been super impactful

Korrasami is definitely a thing and was controversial when it came out because this was technically a kid’s show. But honestly Korra and Asami are the two most attractive characters on that show. It was inevitable. Lol.
I mean, I'd love to get railed by Mako or Bolin anytime
Yeah, they think the bisexuality will contaminate their children.
SwordTune I know, that’s literally all that happens. I don’t get those kinds of judgmental people
AceofKnaves 246 Ikr? Straight kids shows are far more creepy than anything u see in THIS show!!! Snow White for example? No one thought it was strange that a prince who barely knew a girl that was DEAD kissed her (once again, AFTER AN ELEGED DEATH), but when two characters who have history and a beautiful story simply hold hands, it’s suddenly disgusting and prevented and not child friendly?? Ppl r so stupid
I think the issue many people had was how indirect everything came together for them two, and then the creators came out and shamed the fan base if they didn’t like it or “see” it on Tumblr. Yeah, they gave their rationale and opinions about it, but to be told “Yeah, they’re a couple, if you didn’t see it coming, it’s because you see things in a ‘hetero’ lens, and if you can’t see it, you’re the problem”. When in fact, no, maybe if you wrote it better, or made the filler episode in season four where asami brings Korra tea and they talk about their feelings, or one of them says “I hope you know much you mean to me” or something, it would have had a better landing.
But to go and tell the fans if they have a problem with it, and blame the fans for the issue, yeah, you’re not gonna win people over.
I think that’s the issue many people had. Personally, I wanted Korra to either end up single, or die in her attempts to save Republic city. That would make the title “Legend” Work. Didn’t see her and Asami as a working couple. Even in the comics, doesn’t work for me.
Would have respected it more if the creators were able to deliver the evolution of the characters better. And, would have respected it more if they didn’t pull a Rian Johnson and go “it’s not or fault, you-the fans-are the issue”.
But that’s just my two cents.

I'm bi and this finale was surprisingly emotional to me. I'd like to give some context to those who watched the show as it aired.
I've never shipped a couple in a show before or since but I really shipped Korra and Asami, and I wasn't alone. There were numerous forums and subreddits that would discuss them as they were such a cute pairing. It started gaining popularity when Asami offered to go to the Southern Water Tribe to help her heal. When Korra only wrote to her it seemed like more evidence but the blushing scene really made people lose their minds. It was regularly brought up in all of the Avatar forums after that and lead a lot of people to believe that they were going there. When Asami brought tea to Korra to talk and comfort her it was another moment that was beautiful and sweet.
I was on Reddit the day it aired and the top post on the site was from TheLastAirbender subreddit and it was titled "Good Enough For Me". I didn't click it but felt I knew what was up. After work I watched the episode and when the final scene aired I got teary, as did numerous others. It sounds cheesy but good bi representation isn't common and this show felt important for what it did, small though it may be.

My concern with the relationship is that I feel like people are shipping it because they want a gay relationship, not because they actually like the relationship. I don't know if that's accurate, but I wonder if anyone else knows what I'm talking about

They did tear up like crazy at Book 3’s ending, to be fair.
Well duh ATLA had the best ending of all time of any show.
It started with one video. Then I winded up watching you guys watching avatar and legend of Korra. The least I can do is subscribe.
I hate watching this.
IT FELT LIKE WATCHING THE FINALE AND GETTING HURT THAT ITS OVER AGAIN. NOW WHAAAAT?! BRYKE DO THE THING AND MAKE A NEW ANIMATED SERIES!!
There is the graphic novel series "Turf Wars". It takes place after the series finale. It's full of Korrasami bliss and I can't wait to read it.
I think they should let the series rest at this point. In animated form at least
If it helps, Avatar is coming back from Bryke, just not in animated form. They're creating a live action series with Netflix.
@@ThatFreikugel My dumbass has such high hopes for it, there's a tiny part of my brain mumbling something about getting burned again but the rest is continuously searching for new info on the series 😭
They made the dragon Prince for Netflix. The animation bothers some people and the plot is more rocky than Avatar but I enjoyed it.
Also Kaya , aang's daughter is a lesbian as well. he was proud of her
and Kyoshi was bisexual!
Havoc 13. don't spoil it for them they are reading the comics
@@itzcritics3331 they likely read some of them on patreon anyway, they post it there before youtube
Props for including that but it sounds like the comics are Avatar: The Legend of Pandering
Jared Householder it sounds like you haven’t read them
Who finished watching all there reaction during 2020😂
I just binged their LOK reactions😂
@@mrsfahrenheit same
hereeeeee
This is my 3rd time actually
Lol same
I love how in both Atla and Lok,the final is always about how every life is precious and how killing is the worst thing to do.
