All the gushing over the years for the D, and the C just never got the love it deserved, it's a gorgeous ship as well. Honestly if I were to ever get a model it would be the C. I had a D in my teens, smoking ruined it...spray painted it gloss black and did the windows in glow in the dark green for a Borg look. Looked wicked....somewhere in my closet now lol.
An actual real-life WWII destroyer would've fired far more torpedoes in one battle than the Flagship of the Federation ever fired in this one (in terms of amounts of photon torpedoes).
With how slowly the Enterprise, and with how many officers they had on one ship, and with how slowly the Enterprise was moving and were firing phasers and torpedoes I can definitely see why the Federation was losing the war.
I always found it poignant that Geordi, while telling the engineering crews to leave, remained behind to do whatever he could. He, too, fought back to the last.
I remember wanting to jump through my tv screen and physically push the Enterprise-C through the rift. It was like being stuck behind an old lady doing 40 in the left lane.
Picard was too chilled at the beginning of this battle. He allowed the ship to be hit multiple times before responding with just one set of torpedoes against one ship. Why allow your ship to get so damaged when you are outnumbered?
The dynamics of the fire fight were designed to resemble British naval ships firing cannon. Earlier in the episode, Tasha talked about improved heat dissipation rates enabling ships to hang around in a fire fight for much longer. The thing that never makes sense is the unwillingness to empty the torpedo bays... and the rocks.
Picard, "That'll be the day"........
They should have had Worf's voice saying Federation Ship Enterprise. Would have been more powerful.

Surrender and prepare to be boarded. That will be the day.

The tactical station still worked great even after exploding its rock components into Riker's neck.

“Phaser continuous fire! Empty the torpedo bays!”
LET'S MAKE SURE THAT
I love the 'powering up' sound the Enterprise D is making as it assumes defensive position.
The D was and will always be my favorite so awesome.

"THAT will be the DAYYYY." ✊🏻✊🏻✊🏻
15 shots and the enterprise shields were holding
One of the most badass TNG scenes (if not the most). Loved it when I was a kid and still do.
This episode Brought ST TNG into the league of the TOS.
