This is the animation of the short-lived Enterprise 1701-C from Star Trek. Enjoy!
The Ambassador-class ship was launched in 2332, under the command of Captain Rachel Garrett.
The U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-C served with great distinction for 12 years before she was destroyed in 2344 after coming to the defense of a Klingon outpost.
The Enterprise NCC-1701-C was the third Ambassador-class vessel to be built and was commissioned in 2332.
During the battle, the Enterprise-C took more than 400 casualties and lost her entire senior staff apart from Captain Garrett. At the decisive moment in the battle, a photon torpedo created a rift in space-time, and the Enterprise- was thrown 22 years into the future.
Enterprise NCC-1701-D under the command of Captain Jean Luc Picard.
The sacrifice of Enterprise C played an important role in cementing the relationship between the federation and the Klingon empire.
He decided that the Enterprise-C's departure from the timeline might well have had serious consequences and persuaded Captain Garrett to return to her own timeline.

I always thought this was the most underrated and underused Enterprise. I love the in-between look of the design.
It's my favorite design of the Enterprise.
How could you put this whole thing together when we see it for like 1 episode…. And most of its interior was reused sets. Impressive
They have a book I believe
I have to do some research on it and I was lucky enough to at least some info on it.
@@Halfscreen I have the eaglemoss version of the enterprise -c and the ambassador class concept both are good designs.
@@jasonparis5635 I haven't seen the eaglemoss version yet.
Lol...much just made up.
Love this video. The historical importance of the Enterprise-C with Federation-Klingon relations can't be overstated. She's also presumably the only Enterprise to be lost with all hands aboard as far as the Federation knew...
Thanks for watching.
Very true! Though the USS Yamato - the 1701 D's sister ship - also was lost with everyone on board…
@@MarcWeertsMusic As was the Odyessey...
@@danielbuggie591 the Odyssey was manned by a skeleton crew. The others stayed on DS9.
@@smash461986 Yeah, but once the civilians and unneeded crew like biologists were offloaded, then IMO they're not really 'hands' anymore. No escape pods made it off of her when she died.
The Ambassador class is one of my absolute favorite designs. It always bothered me that it didn't get enough screen time.
Agreed.
Joshua- My sentiments exactly. I think it looks more sleek than the Excelsior class. There should have been more Amassador-class ships during the Next Gen time.
@@josephmargetanski2379 I agree, also there was many opportunities on DS9 they could have used it. Especially during the Dominion war.
Instead of the current ridiculous crop of horrible star trek shows, they could have made a show about the enterprise b and/or c eras. But no. We got an std instead, and another crappy soft reboot of tos with snw... So much lore to build on, but they keep fking it up. I would so love to see GOOD trek shows about the enterprise B and enterprise C... But I worry under the current management of the franchise, they'd fk that up too.
@@josephmargetanski2379 I think it actually looks chunkier than the Excelsior, and thats what I like about it. Not excessively sleek.
Being I was born into Starfleet in the 1960s, your videos are pure joy to watch. They are so good they would be perfect to use in teaching new cadets. 🥰 I love them all! 🤩
I could watch an entire series with this ship and crew. Again, thank you for all the work.
Have you ever read the "New Frontier" series by Peter David? If you haven't I recommended it. The series takes place aboard The Ambassador class starship USS Excalibur
Glad you like them!
@@joshuawoodruff2744 Ill try that. Thank you!
Agreed. I would love to see a series that bridges the end of the TOS era and TNG.
When the Ambassador Class Starships were commissioned they were the first Federation Starships equipped with Phaser Strips instead of the Phaser turrets used on the old Constitution Refit Class and the Excelsior Class and with those new Phaser Strips gave the Ambassador Class a full 360° coverage of firing arcs so they could target hostile ships in all directions.
True, they also had stronger shields. Its one of the reasons it was able to hold out against 4 Romulan ships as long as it did.
The phaser strips look very similar to the one on Voyager.
I'm not sure if the phaser strips of the Ambassador Class Starships look like those of the Intrepid Class but when the Ambassador Class was being designed it said the class was a inbetween of the Excelsior Class and the Galaxy Class.
@@apotheases Yeah and aside from stronger shields the Ambassador Class also had a more advanced warp drive too more advanced than the Constellation Class from what I heard in a SpaceDock video I saw on the Ambassador Class though like I mentioned in previous comments the Ambassador Class might have been an advanced and powerful starship but it had one fatal design flaw and that was it's computer systems which were based on the old Duotronic computer systems which by the time the Ambassador Class came into service was over a century out of date and the classes computers were built as a hybrid of both the old Duotronic systems and the new Isolinear systems as I stated is what caused the loss of the Enterprise C.
Good job putting what limited information we have on this ship together.
And lovely illustrations, as always! 🖖
Thank you very much Matt!
Well done man. I always loved this design so really stoked you gave it the treatment. Top notch.
Thanks!
This is one of my favorite ships, you did a fantastic job with such little information.
Thank you so much! I've been waiting for this video about Garrett's Enterprise C for a long time.
No problem!
I'm glad to see you covering my favorite Enterprise!
You misquoted the Enterprise-A length. She is 304.8 meters in length. 288 was the original pre-refit length.
The Enterprise A is 305 Meters/1000 FT long, the same as the Refit. The original series Enerprise is 288 meters/947 FT in length. Enterprise D length is 641 meters.
Of course the Refit Enterprise and the Enterprise A were the same size and length the only differences between the 2 was the Constitution Refit Enterprise was redesigned off the bones of the T.O.S. Enterprise as after her historic 5 years mission with advancements in warp drive technology and the development of the vertical warp core the Enterprise was chosen to test these new systems but in order for it to work the Enterprise would have to be stripped down to her superstructure and gutted and rebuilt from the ground up which as mentioned in Star Trek the Motion Picture took 18 months to complete and instead of doing the same with all the original Connies they were all decommissioned and were all rebuilt to the Refit specs including the Enterprise A which was originally named Yorktown.
What an excellent job man! You're fantastic this was truly enjoyable to watch.
Very nice. It seems to me that the inner details of the interior are getting better in each video. I really like the cross section.
Thank you very much!
Another fantastic video! Lovely to see these lesser known ships get attention!
Indeed!
The Ambassador class is hands down my number one all-time favorite Trek starship design, with the Constitution a very close second. It's much more symmetrical and balanced than either the extremely bottom-heavy, unevenly proportioned Excelsior or the absurdly top and forward heavy, awkwardly framed Galaxy. I absolutely love its somewhat throwback look and semi-retro profile - it makes me think of a massively beefed-up, super-reinforced Constitution class on steroids.
Would agree the Titan in Picard season 3 shares similar proportions and it looks real clean
Another extremely well-done videos. Beautiful work.
Thank you watching Randall and Cheers!
I like the exterior design of the C more than the D and I often wish that they had thought of it sooner and used it for the whole series.
IIRC, the Enterprise-C was a concept version of the Enterprise-D.
I just finished a model of the "C" a few weeks ago. Was pleasantly surprised to see you do this ship. Excellent video.
No problem since it was one of the few ship that wasn't really mentioned for obvious reason.
Love to see the Ambassador class is getting some love. Thank you!!!
No problem.
My favourite thing about the ambassador class is the nacelle and deflector dish designs
Has this enterprise as a model kit when i was a kid. Always loved the design.
I still yearn for a post Startrek6 / Pre-TNG series era with this ship and old red uniform.
It could be an awesome series, provided it's done right (less STD/STP and more SNW/TNG/ST2-6 feel)
Love the Ent-C. Would love to see more of it.
TNG seasons 1-2 or seasons 3-6?
@@L1z43vr 3-6 for sure. As much as I liked the 1-2nd seasons more than some, I much prefer the latter myself.
Like I mentioned in previous comments it sure would be nice if they could do t.v. series on the Enterprise C and the Enterprise B so it could show what the crews of both ships went through in they're missions and voyages.
This is a great breakdown! We love the Ambassador Class...it's why we fly one!
The Ambassador Class is my favorite ship type. I found this very interesting. Thanks.
No problem!
The Enterprise B is my favorite Enterprise of the 23rd century.
Loved this video! Excellent work!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great job! This is my favorite Enterprise!
Mine too!
This is great for fans of Star Trek: New Frontier the book and comic series by Peter David. My fav Trek series.
First half of tha series is on an ambassador class
GREAT video! Thank you! I love the C. Hoping we get more of her in the Section 31 movie since it is set in the lost era.
The story of how we ended up with this design as the Enterprise C is still something of a mystery. When Star Trek TNG was first being green lit a designer named Andrew Probert was hired to design not only the hero ship for the show, but also the designs for the Enterprise B and C. The B was basically an excelsior class, however the C had to created from scratch. The finalized designs for the C were used in show to a limited degree as a large painting, and as one of the gold ships on the wall of previous Enterprises. These designs are notably different from the Enterprise C shown in Yesterday's Enterprise.
Fan theories for the change range from time and cost constraints, to concerns that the C looked better as a ship design, to conspiracies' that the model being built true to the Probert design was accidentally destroyed before it was completed prompting a simpler version being rushed to fit the role.
Another mystery about the Enterprise C and the Ambassador class in general is why it never got any screen time beyond that episode. Typically the Enterprise is one of many ships of the same class, but in this case it seems to be just one of a kind. One would think that during the dominion war, or in the various mass battles against the Borg these ships would have been present... but it's almost as if the ships were erased from the timeline, or only as part of some alternate timeline.
It is odd they didn’t include any ambassador class ships in other episodes. I always thought it odd in TNG that they always seemed to meet up with an excelsior class. Why when they had built the model didn’t they use it? And I totally agree one or two should have shown up in the fleet against the Dominion!
The Enterprise C was probably kit-based from spare D model parts.
@@rinston3591 An ambassador class ship was seen at Wolf 359.
The Enterprise-C is featured in STO. And is acquired after a mission. Not spoiling it. However, it is a cruiser class ship. And is an upgrade from your ship at that time. I believe the Ambassador class was one of the bridges between Excelsior class and Galaxy.
I'm rewatching TNG right now and I JUST watched this episode today xD (Yesterday's Enterprise if that wasn't clear lol)
Short, but no less than fantastic!
As always your work is first rate!
Thank you! Cheers!
I really appreciate your efforts.
It's my pleasure
Great Work 🥳🥳🥳 Thank You 💜💜💜
Our pleasure!
That aft shuttle bay was huge…. Crazy
Thank you, once again a enjoyable video
Glad you enjoyed it
Excellent
Thank you so much 😀
Brilliant!

Great Vid!
Thank you for your Exquisite Video !
Many thanks!!
Always loved the ambassador class ships.
Incredible x
Very cool!
Great work HT
Appreciate it Dale!
Amazing! Can you do Enterprise-B? 😊
Eventually.
The Excelsior class could be awesome
Until I saw this video I didn't know the Ambassador Class Starships had a shuttle Bay on the saucer section behind the main bridge just like the main shuttle Bay on the Galaxy Class.
Thanks!
Man Richard, I appreciated the love and the super thank as usual! 😍😁
Excellent 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Thank you 🙌
Inside the Enterprise D are a whole load of sound stages !!!!!
Enterprise-C is my next favorite design after the original Enterprise 1701. Excelsior/Enterprise-B grew on me and I have been fond of it for decades. Enterprise-D is in a category by itself and is my favorite of the future designs. E worked well for the movies. Thanks for this animation. If I may, the Enterprise-C Bussard collectors have 5 small emitters in each dome. Not the two your animations show. The configuration matching the 5 emitters is clearly shown in "Yesterday's Enterprise".
No problem. Glad you enjoyed it. Sometime, 3D model I download doesn't match up with the show.
Thank you one of my favourite star fleet ships. (:
No problem!
The Enterprise C ???
Ok this channel is absolutely amazing. 👏👏👏
Thanks for watching Damian!
almost done with discovery season 4 and im hooked to star trek finally! after not really watching TNG when i was a kid at my aunt's.. 36yrs old and i can see now why i never thought the show was good. being a kid when TNG was around it looked so dumb and had no explosions or cartoons to keep my young brain hooked to the screen lol. but now.. holy freaking cow. discovery dropping names from older shows at almost every turn and now strange new worlds being done with season 1.. its awesome to see how the shows have been playing off each other all these years. keep up vids man. live long and prosper!
thank you
You're welcome
Not that the Klingon's admiration of the Federation would last. They'd go back to the p'tagh Humans mode on a drum beat.
Don't be shy about making 3D models of the TOS-era Klingon Battlecruiser and the Romulan Bird-of-Prey, based on the blueprints they made of those ships back in the '70s. Shane Johnson also made blueprints of the C57D ship from FORBIDDEN PLANET, which others have made 3D renderings of, but would still be good for you to do a version of.
Damn...that's a huge ship.
There's a observation lounge like in A and d looking at model. Very nice detail so much not known and not seen enough
Good job with the video. It's annoying that one wouldn't know where the photon torpedo decks were from the outside of the studio model or any 3D render unless you look at the cutaway.
Yeah it may have had Isolinear circuitry but in it's early career the Ambassador Class Starships were built with the old Duotronic Computer systems and sadly that was what caused a lot of problems for the class and what caused the loss of the Enterprise C and I know this because I saw this video called Star Trek Truth or Myth:The Design history of the Ambassador Class Starships and Starfleet tried to cover it up that the Ambassador Class had several design flaws and it was the newly promoted Admiral John Harriman former captain of the Excelsior Class U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-B who discovered this subterfuge for what at the time was one of Starfleet's most advanced Starships.
based on the technical data book of the enterprise, the duotronic systems was problematic.
By the time of the commissioning of the Ambassador Class the Duotronic computers were over a century old and the new Isolinear Computer systems were a new technology and like I mentioned they used a hybrid of the 2 systems for the Ambassador Class which is what caused it's downfall and sadly also nearly destroyed the careers of several top Starfleet officials who knew of the problems and covered it up.
I love your videos, they are very well designed, I've watched a lot of them, I'm especially a fan of "Star Trek" ship designs, and there are some mythical ones and some very interesting and sometimes less known ones , there is one that I would be interested in seeing one day in one of your videos: the "Apollo Class MK2" (USS.Polaris) of the "Ambassador Class", I would be very happy to see it in section...🖖 🙂🤗☺🙏
Thanks and I will check the Apollo Class MK2,
Hi Half, great 👍 video 📹 as always. So do you think the Romulans got any technological access from the ship?
My favorite federation starship class
I still think a series about the C would be epic
I do like the Ambassador class well enough, but after seeing the alternate concept art brought to life with Star Trek Online's Narendra class, I have to say we ended up with the worse of the two. I have no idea how this blocky thing got put into TNG over that beautiful ship.
@11:32 "Naughty crewmen" are assigned here. LOL
The C was not the only Ambassador class ship we ever saw in Star Trek. There was also the the USS Yamaguchi which we saw in DS9 Episode 1.
Don't forget about 2 others that were mentioned the U.S.S. Horatio and the U.S.S. Excalibur the Horatio was under the command of Captain Walker Keel and was mentioned in the season 1 episode 'Conspiracy' and the Excalibur was seen in the Season 5 episode 'Redemption Part 2' as part of the fleet that Picard put together as a blockade at the Klingon/Romulan Border and said ship was briefly commanded by Commander William T. Riker.
And the Zhukov from Data's Day
@@GrahamNificent You're right! I forgot about that one!
love the C design, more so than B or D.
Great video, very beautiful +👍🔔
Thanks and welcome
Enterprise-A is actually 305 meters long , Enterprise-D is 642 meters long.
Bravo
Yesterday's Enterprise😎
Very nice...My one question. Right below the park near the neck of the ship there seems to be a shuttle storage area without access to either of the shuttle bays. Any thoughts?
The original schematic isn't always logistically arrange.
Great video! I prefer the C to the D -- good mix and evolution from Constitution and Excelsior-classes 🙂
C is more classic in design vs D.
Another great video! Shame there isn't more info on her.
Yeah. Information was rather limited.
I liked the eprise c better than the excelsior ambassador class...it would be cool to see in a episode (some when)of engineers having to work on the nacelle just to see how it looks without the covering plating. Great viddie sir please keep em coming...its better than having to buy an expensive manual magazine or design schematics.
8:00 Regarding the shuttlecraft that we see underneath the arboretum, I wonder which shuttlebay they go to. Or if there’s a third bay that opens in between the rim of the saucer and the impulse engine.
I wonder if you can do the Miranda class I was wanted to see the inside of that
11:30 To the right of the Enlisted Mess there appear to be two holodecks. I’ve seen other MSDs that label them as holodecks.
Rachel (Majel) Garret (Barret) !
The C was such a good looking ship, I kinda wish that they'd used its design as the D. It looks like a logical update from the OT Enterprise, but with Excelsior inspired improvements.
The Enterprise C was not attacked by the Klingons but, instead were attacked by the Romulans. Enterprise C was trying to protect a Klingon colony and was destroyed by the Romulans trying to do so. This was considered by the Klingons as very heroic and honorable and this led to the Federation / Klingon alliance.
He said Captain Garrett was killed in a battle with the Klingons. He was not wrong.
The Enterprise C was attacked by the Klingons in the alternate timeline, 22 years in their future. (Yesterday's Enterprise)
The Ambassador Class certainly has their own beauty, don't they? Thanks for polishing her up too. We only got to see her after she took a lot of hits. It doesn't look like they considered saucer-separation in the design.
I disagree. The plane of saucer separation would easily be done at the joint where the neck connects to the bottom of the saucer. Very similar to the way the Enterprise-D and Excelsior/Enterprise-B did or would have likely done it.
Based on the schematic, it does have a separation plane on interconnecting dorsal, so it should have the ability to separate.
@@Halfscreen cooooool!
@@charonjr1701 ahhhhhh yes. Thanks.
Awesome job man.
By the way there were TWO senior officers that survived. Rachel Garrett and Richard Castio. Go back and watch right after Garrett is killed. Riker says: "Sir....Lieutenant Castio is the last surviving senior officer. He will have limited support from OPS, no tactical, reduced staff in engineering."
Also the photon torpedo tubes were on the front part of the neck near the base of it.
Other than that you did a very well done job on this video.
By the way can you provide me a link to images or orthos of the Galaxy class model used in your video? I'd love to have them for the windows around the saucer and on the secondary hull.
www.alex3d.at/
great video, Have you thought about doing a video about Starbase Deep Space 9?
Eventually, since I brought the technical book a few months ago.
One mistake is enterprise c was launched 2340s....had primitive green LCARS of TOS movies. Yet 2340s the USS raven had TNG style LCARS by 2340s when she was launched
In the Star Trek universe the Ambassador Class U.S.S. Enterprise was launched in the year 2332 not the 2340's yeah that's right by the year 2344 and the Battle of Nerendra 3 the Enterprise C was in service for just 12 years.
Hello! NICE channel! I'm a big fan of you +👍🔔
Thanks and welcome
My favorite design is the Galaxy Class. It's just dead sezzy.
Brother you mistook the Enterprise-A length in all your videos so let me help; It's 304.8 meters and also the Enterprise-D is 641 meters. Nonetheless good video. Liked.

I wish the Ambassador class had been given more air time!
I agree the first time we heard the classes name mentioned was in the season 1 episode 'Conspiracy' the ship was called the U.S.S. HORATIO under the command of Captain Walker Keel,we didn't get to see what the class looked like till the season 3 episode 'Yesterday's Enterprise' and during the season 5 episode 'Redemption' as part of the fleet put together by Picard's blockade fleet against the Romulans and during the flashback opening scene of the Star Trek Deep Space Nine season 1 episode 'Emissary' during the Battle of Wolf 359 and was mentioned to have taken part during the Dominion War.
