  • Today we test drive the FJ45 after rebuilding the 1977 Toyota 2F engine and putting an H55f 5 speed transmission behind it. The engine has been fully rebuilt with new piston rings, bearings, 0.40 shaved off the head for more power, a new carb and a set of headers
    Few things left to do, but this is a big milestone!

    Congrats! A lot a work, and now you are close to pure joy. I owned and drove an FJ45 long bed (same colors as yours) 12 years here in Northern California. Had a factory PTO winch on it. Not as comfortable as my FJ40 but a very cool, rare vehicle. Enjoy!

    I would recommend getting a watch dog temperature Alarm. Save my truck Radiator hose blew I was able to pull over Keep engine from overheating.

    Hi, I'm from India & enjoy watching your show. Which exhaust system have you used on this 2F engine? Thank you.

      Hi Nidhish, thanks for watching. In this video it was just running straight headers (no exhaust) which is why it sounded so loud. I did have an exhaust fitted later on to quiet things down but it was nothing special just a basic muffler

      No, it’s a new H55 from Toyota with a rebuilt 60 series transfer case using Terrain Tamer parts. Sorry can’t be of help there, thanks for watching

    Hi Mate, love the ute. I hope mine tunes out as well. I love the bumper that you have at the rear. Do you have any plans on the build or do you have a video on when you made it. Thanks dave (instagram- firstsilverfoxs40)

      Hey Dave, thanks for the compliment. The rear was a one off by a fab shop based on some pics I sent him a while back. It’s pretty stout

    Is 2f better than 3f engine?

    • @musiccitycruisers3863
      @musiccitycruisers3863  Před 4 lety

      Hey Jonas, no not necessarily. The 3FE is the new generation. Things like fuel injection were added which is nice, but many people are adding fuel injection to these old 2Fs and getting great results. The engines are very similar

      @@musiccitycruisers3863 but for power output who wins?

      The 2F had 135hp/200ft lb from the factory, the 3FE 155hp/220ft lb torque so close. 2F is little more simpler to work on
