    Nice '78. Enjoyed the video. I also have a '78, same olive color. Bought it new in '78. 62,000 original miles. Got a cosmetic face lift and some upgraded mechanicals about 10 years ago. It gets to sit in the garage while the 2 4Runners and the FJ Cruiser sit under the carports.

    Conduces mal y bruscamente este hermoso Toyota. Pronto echaras a perder la meticulosa restauracion. No retiras el pie del clutch cuando ya hiciste el cambio..... Ruedas en punto muerto par después frenar..... El Toyota aguanta todo menos un mal dueño..... Envidio tu Toyota pero tu Toyota te debe odiar.

    • @JLin576
      @JLin576 Před 4 lety +2

      Plus he was jamming it into first at too high of speed. I could hear the stress on those synchros! First gear in an FJ40 is seldom used for street driving. It is a granny gear, and second gear is fine for going from a stop. Unless I am mistaken and the diff gear is not 4:10 on a 78, and it went higher to 3:73.

    Don't know who taught you how to drive a 4 speed, but you should never throw it out of gear and coast when coming to a turn or stop. When you throw it out of gear and coast, you have lost control of the vehicle. You should simply gear down as necessary, but keep it in gear.
