Hi this is Jay P. Morgan. Today on The Slanted Lens we’re going to show you how to light glass and then photograph ice splashing into a cup of water. We'll be using a laser trigger from MIOPS. Let’s hope nothing gets broken. There's a trick to glass photography because it's really more about the light you see through the glass, versus the light you put on it. Watch and let me know what you learned, and any tips you may have that I didn't mention.
Keep those cameras rollin' and keep on clickin'.
-Jay P.

the laser pointer trigger trick. that's some awesome stuff didn't even know it existed.
Now i'm used to anticipating a goofy Jay P. intro so giggles before. As always very informative.

Is the trigger attached to fire your lights? not the camera??
Great video. Where do I get the fake ice from?
Best video on the subject thank you... I hope you make a lot of sales
Hahaha....one day
That's great! I've got a trigger trap, but I haven't successfully done this yet.
+Robiul Ahmed Try it! Let me know how it goes.
Great video, thank you a lot! How much thickness the glass has?
+Rodrigo Pierrot It was just a regular glass from the store.

Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for watching, Steven.
Amazing water splash
Thank you and thanks for watching!
I'd like to see this with a dark/black background. Thoughts? Thanks for sharing this video
Great suggestion! We will keep that in mind for future videos. Thanks for watching and check out our most recent glass video: czcams.com/video/M9NlA7yzFrw/video.html
How did you get the MIOPS to talk to the TC80-N3 or the lights?
I used a laser trigger. When the ice cube dropped it triggered the laser.
I do like your video of the glass I would try it
Let us know how your shoot goes!
Nice tutorial,thanks
+Hendricus Haroen Dilrosun Thanks for watching!
hi JP, amazing and informative vlog as always. Just a question about the ice you used, I assume they're fake? Since there isn't any water droplets forming on the glass and the ice cubes seem to "sink" instead of float? Thanks
+bio folic You are correct, not real for this shoot. The "ice cubes" are acrylic and since they aren't melting like normal ice, it was one more element I was able to keep consistent through this process. Thanks for watching.
Great video.
you could make a video of how you photographed different types of coins?
Thanks! We did do a video about shooting shiny metal: czcams.com/video/FPfH3M--224/video.html
That MIOPS System seems very interesting. Would it work with, say, a Nikon SB-600 ?
+Manu Claessens Here's the list of supported cameras, and what to do if yours is not. miops.com/cablelist/
Is that the new 90mm macro? How is it? Would you recommend it as an upgrade to the original 90mm?
+Stretch Reality Yes, absolutely. It focuses the same way as the Canon lenses, I like the autofocus knobs, and the vibration control is great.
Love to hear your review on the new Tamron 90mm Macro lens!
+Javan Ng I'm posting my review in a couple of weeks! We're airing it to coincide with a Tamron giveaway.
+Javan Ng But I do love the lens!
Thanks! I can't wait to watch your review and hopefully win a prize :-)
He reminds me of Molly from Orange Is The New Black
Great video! Please tell how (or where) you got those picture perfect ice cubes :-)
Here's a link- amzn.to/2a7nD2Z
And thanks!

Thank you
wow those B4's surely can freeze motion!
They are great lights.
You make me laugh. I like you.
Thank you.
Thanks so much!
how do you hold up your lite panels?
Hi Raul, we use the stands that came with the panel. bhpho.to/29RoBAe
Thanks I love your videos! Could you guys do a video on the pros and cons of using strobe vs. continuous lighting?
Where can find that blue glass....What do I search?
Danny Mumbles blue glass
ZJwolfe what? that doesn't help at all.
The giveaway page says it can't be displayed.
+Gauge Wiley It's working for me- theslantedlens.com/giveaway
+The Slanted Lens Ah yes, it wouldn't work on my mobile but on my computer it did. Thank you.
where i find the laser pointer that you use?
+Brett Harris Just look for Laser Trigger on Amazon or your online store of choice.
+Brett Harris Any laser will do. But if you'd like to buy one through our affiliate link that would be great! Thanks! amzn.to/1T7Z20D
+The Slanted Lens Okay thanks. Cheers.
Were those acrylic fake ice cubes? It's hard to get ice that good looking naturally and to have the time to work with real ice.
+Crewchief 227 Yes they are. If you order them through our affiliate program with Amazon we'll get a small kickback, which I'd really appreciate! Thanks for watching.

That link doesn't seem to work?
The Slanted Lens please, do you guys have a new Amazon link for these Prop Ice Cubes?
what do u mean with the delay
+abboycki masta You can set the MIOPS so that it delays the release of the shutter, or in this case the strobes, so that you can control when it takes the picture.
Yes i see.. Thank u by the way
This is a good video, but, why did you hide Tesla's research?
Thanks.
+elfaroproductions Thanks for watching!
We all could have free energy yo!
Sir, try looking at the camera please.
That hammer came out of nowhere haha.
nice intro
Thank you and thanks for your comment and support!
So much for getting work with just a " Camera and a Lens . "
+Nobody Home Definitely doable.
He broke a glass in every glass photography video.
I just like breaking things down!
Second
Everthing is good expect the breaking of glass everytime you have a video. Stop doing that, it takes lot of time to mould a glass, a perfect one.
I don't think this was a hand blown glass. But thanks for the comment and thanks for watching!
Thankyou!
