amcint01 Stewart should have sacked Sting years ago and found the police a new lead singer to take the band to another level. My money's would have been on Bruno Mars or John Mayer. Both would have given the police a new lease of life and great vocals!
As to modernity, The Police is better than The Beatles imo. Police's music still rock real hard until now, while Beatles' could be a little bit boring...

Sting had two balls to go without backup vocalists or background vocals on this song live being around 60 years old. Those voice cracks are authenticity and balls. The band, apart from that, KILLING IT. For me, The Police was the last band that united eccentricity, commercialism and chops (U2 got the first two, but on the third... ehem...).
