She is jealous, like Tai Lung, for good reason. She has trained for so long (arguably 20 years based off of Tai Lung’s banishment and a reference from Kung Fu Panda 2) for something she believed she deserved, becoming the Dragon Warrior, yet this new guy comes in and takes it all and shows no potential. She can also easily be seen as the leader of the 5, eating tofu while everyone else enjoys Po’s noodles, sacrificing herself to stop Tai Lung on her own, tells Po to stay put in Kung Fu Panda 2, and was the first to attack and lead the team on the bridge with Tai Lung. In my eyes, she might also be proud of her accomplishments and determination to the art, like Tai Lung, but has more self-control. Plus, her sclera in the flashback scene was white, like Tai Lung’s, or at least very minimal yellow, just trying to make Shifu proud before the dragon scroll even comes to mind. Also, her eyes are rarely yellow in Kung Fu Panda 2, which might be an indication that she is finally at peace not being the dragon warrior and instead chooses to be kinder to Po. Just an interesting detail from the creators that fully support your color theory.
Excellent point! Also the use of blue fire is very reminiscent of the duel between Zuko and Azula. I think the use of blue for Tai Lung has a similar kind of symbolism behind it. Additionally Tai Lungs connection with blue flame and his cold calculating rage kind of makes him similar to Disney's Hades as well.

In addition to that in another recent promo trailer she literally transformed into a perverted dragon like figure. It seems to me that the villains are related to 4 of the 5 heavenly beasts in Chinese mythology (the 5th one being the golden dragon of the middle which is Po). Tai Lung represents the white tiger, Shen represents the vermillion bird, Kai represents the black tortoise/snake/warrior (the translations of this one are broader than the rest, but I'm gonna go with warrior because he's not a tortoise or a snake), and the new chameleon villain seems to represent the asure dragon. Yellow (and golden) color symbolizes good, justice, innocence, wisdom, ballance and peace - here is Oogway, Po, The Spirit Realm at all and even young Tai Lung! On the other hand, Evil is let's to say a RGB - it's one identity but has three different forms and colors respectively: The Red one is pure kind of evil, that's Lord Shen; The Green one is corrupted kind of evil, that's General Kai; The Blue one is broken kind of evil, that's Tai Lung... I love how each Kung fu panda villain has a unique eye colour to them. Tai-lungs were yellow hinting to his past and that he wasn’t always a bad man. He is also redeemable more so than the other two villains. Shens were Red this emphasises his pure ruthless nature and longing for destruction/conquest and the pain he inflicts on others to hide from his own. Kai’s were green this represents his envy and jealousy towards Oogways legacy since he felt betrayed by him. He was also angered by the fact No one remembered who he was. Xx
Joked with my friends about the villains being rbg lights when I noticed their connections with blue, red, and green respectively, but I had a feeling there was something more to it. Nice to see someone do research into that very topic
If you look at Kai and Oogwey, and look at their stories, it appears on the surface level that Kai turned evil when he came across chi. But if you look at the finer details, it becomes apparent that Oogwey turned good when he came across it.
I'm going to see kung fu panda 4 in theaters on the 7th. I personally think the chameleon will have a color palette of yellow, because Tai Lung had blue, Shen had red, and Kai had green. It's only fair that Chameleon gets yellow, because it'd wrap up the "primary" color thing.

It also might have something to do with chakras Green represents the heart chakra and is blocked by grief and deals with compassion, so it makes sense if Kai trusted Ogway to the point of his “betrayal” leaving him grieving for companionship and replacing that for the need of recognition and becoming heartless. Blue can be associated with the 3rd eye and throat chakras depending on the shade, 3rd eye is blocked by illusion and deals with insight and the throat chakra deals with truth and is blocked by lies, lies and illusion are associated with tai lung, he’s motivated by the illusion he’s the dragon warrior whilst trying to prove to the world what he deep down knows is a lie. Idk much about shen being Red as red is the root chakra witch deals with survival and is blocked by fear. Shen causes a lot of fear so I believe it represents more of what he causes instead of what he feels.
Shen heard prophecy in which panda will destroy him one day, so him destroying pandas first is his way to survive. Also he is scared that his downfall will still happen and out of fear he just keeps making more damage
In addition to that, another comment pointed out that shen was originally going to be born a sickly child so theme of survival could have also played into that.
I don’t think Shen ever painted his feathers red as opposed to being born with his coloration. While his background color is red, he is obviously white and is starkly different from either of his parents meaning he was born with albinism and thus have little colors which I think works wonderfully for Shen as he was born quite literally different and he strove to change his fate by doing anything that he thinks would set him on a different course.

I had a similar theory to this but with the Logos. I believe that every 2 Movies involved with Kung Fu Panda reflects on the topics, lessons, and Elements the Movies focus on. We see that the Logo of Kung Fu Panda 1 - 2 are Red, which resembles the Brutality and focus on Inner Peace as the First Key Element of Kung Fu in the duology, it’s briefly talked about in the 1st and shown in the 2nd. And then there’s the 3rd - 4th Movie we are currently on, having a text of Green, resembling Chi and the shape-shifting and Jade Zombie focus. With the 3rd having a focus on Chi and the 4th we are unsure of at the moment. Now for understanding, my Theory says that the next 2 Movies that come after the 4 Movies will have a fully yellow text/logo or Blue possibly, since throughout Po’s Adventures, we see a symbol of Yellow he expresses throughout his Dreams and such and it shows itself as a pleasant and nice color scheme revealing himself as the Dragon Warrior, and you may ask, what would the next 2 Movies focus on after Inner Peace and Chi? Well, let’s just say that I’m unsure, now there are possible elements that might be present in the next 2 Movies, like Adultery or Elderly Present and such but whatever the next 2 will hold, might be the most impacting element shown in the Movie thus far. We’ll see what the future holds for the KFP Franchise depending on the writers soon. I mostly call these Textual Colors, Arcs, since one lesson will be present for 2 Movies over the other and when the Text Color we’re on in the logo, fades away and presents a new color, it starts a new lesson/element.
They confirm Kung Fu Panda is gonna have six movies, with three already made and one in progress. I theorize the fifth movie’s villain would be mainly orange in color, and the sixth villain would be purple. Or maybe fifth movie villain would be purple, and sixth movie villain becomes pitch black.
Something I would like to add to the Kai portion of the video Kai's weapons are made of a green Jade, a very iconic color of Jade and one that everyone knows Jade to be. But there are other colors of Jade, which one is what I want to point out. YELLOW Jade. Kai is a spirit warrior and was turning everyone into Jade statues to fight for him and see through their eyes. And when he gets defeated, he turns yellow as does the spirit world. And that just seemed so cool to me at the time.
I never caught onto that the prophecy could have a double meaning. He is black and white so either he defeats himself by not giving up or Po (a panda) defeats him.
That doesn't add red pigments though? The red only red would be his eyes as there wouldn't be melanin, leading to the color of the blood vessels being visible. This would not happen with his feathers let alone like that
@@blackberrythefox117 dunno what the actual science mumbo jumbo is but originally shen was supposed to be an albino peacock and his parents saw as a sick child and overlooked him but when they changed him to be this badass maniac they decided to keep in the white feathers

Also in kfp yellow represents body red represents mind and green represents chi what po masters through out all three movies and tai lung kai and shen represent yin, yang, and the yang and yin so chameleons colors being the same as pos is pretty interesting
Root chakra or red also symbolises lust, heart or green is ego and yellow is greed which also shows in their actions, shen wants to conquer all of china, his lust knows no bounds, kai is egoistic, every time he fights someone he is always demeaning and disrespectful, he is angry that no one remembers him, he takes the chi of every master that has learned oogway's kung fu because his ego cant let anything related to oogway survive, tai lung is greedy, he learnt the 1000 scrolls but thats not enough for him, he also wants the dragon scrolls. Everyone of these villains also had the other evils too, its not 2 dimensional which is how it is in real life. Edit : maybe they should have given chameleon purple which is most of the time associated with laziness.
Betrayal, Wrath, Jealousy. Tai Lung felt BETRAYED by Shifu after not becoming the DW. Lord Shen felt WRATH because he sees no one as worthy and ends them with no care for their life. Kai felt jealous of how he felt about Oogway being more liked than him, and wanting the power that he had that made Oogway powerful and use it against everyone.
Nah, I think Kai forsook music as well: his theme samples Imagine Dragons' "I'm So Sorry". Also, I think I read on TV Tropes that jade is not to be used in combat.

imo the chameloen could have a mix color, some red, mostly yellow, and some teal blue, kai is most definatly green, shen is red and white, and tai lung, yellow and blueish
Speaking of that the title logos have a theme on it's colors too, the first one be red and yellow, also the second has red and yellow too a bit of white , the third one with yellow and green, and the forth one yellow mixed with teal and green with a dragon texture
Fun fact in Japanese culture is that the color white sometimes represents death, and seeing how much shen has killed in the 2nd film to accomplish his goal the color white definitely suits him
Theory: Po's enemies represent the four horsemen of the apocalypse. Kai - Death The Chameleon - Famine Lord Shen - War Tai Lung - Conquest Tai Lung tried to take over Po's role, explaining his conquest. Lord Shen commited genocide against innocent pandas, explaining his war. Kai wanted nothing more than the deaths of the kung fu masters for their chi, explaining how he is death. Chameleon is taking every villain's chi, starving them of it, making her famine.

It's why that concept is so important.
and now we realize that this was not half as deep as the other movies
They confirm Kung Fu Panda is gonna have six movies, with three already made and one in progress. I theorize the fifth movie’s villain would be mainly orange in color, and the sixth villain would be purple. Or maybe fifth movie villain would be purple, and sixth movie villain becomes pitch black.
Something I would like to add to the Kai portion of the video
Kai's weapons are made of a green Jade, a very iconic color of Jade and one that everyone knows Jade to be.
This video Ila almost perfectly put together - in incredible job!
Lord shen's feathers weren't painted, his a albino peacock
That doesn't add red pigments though? The red only red would be his eyes as there wouldn't be melanin, leading to the color of the blood vessels being visible. This would not happen with his feathers let alone like that
@@blackberrythefox117 dunno what the actual science mumbo jumbo is but originally shen was supposed to be an albino peacock and his parents saw as a sick child and overlooked him but when they changed him to be this badass maniac they decided to keep in the white feathers
can anyone else pick up the car sound at 9:30 odd? its an automatic transmission from the sound
As a pure fighter with raw talent, Tai Lung remains unrivaled. He's HIM.
i like to think the colors recreate some sins
green - greed
red - pride [or wrath]
blue - glory
I think green usually represents envy, which I think would still fit Kai.
@@joshzuker8308
I'd still say greed due to the fact that it was mentioned that when he found out the way on how to gain chi he strived for more not stopping.
This was a fabulous well thought theory with phenomenal explanation and conciseness. Thank you for sharing, and awesome work.
Dude I love your content so much you’re incredibly insightful and entertaining keep it up!!!!!
Then the 4th movie comes in and shits on this with its existence
BLUE
RED
GREEN
SMALL
As always your analysis and commentary are logical, smart and very interesting.
Also in kfp yellow represents body red represents mind and green represents chi what po masters through out all three movies and tai lung kai and shen represent yin, yang, and the yang and yin so chameleons colors being the same as pos is pretty interesting
Amazing video! Well Done!
Those colors can be a part of their personality, red to anger , blue to greif, jade green can be of good faith or earth, and gold might be for pride.
7:08 hell one of the highest positions in the Heavenly Bureaucracy _is_ the Jade Emperor!
I’d love to see a dark brown next. Something purely dark, vile, underhanded etc. Perhaps in a beetle-like character
the wat color theory works is not based off emotion but what the movie previously defines not by emotions before
Root chakra or red also symbolises lust, heart or green is ego and yellow is greed which also shows in their actions, shen wants to conquer all of china, his lust knows no bounds, kai is egoistic, every time he fights someone he is always demeaning and disrespectful, he is angry that no one remembers him, he takes the chi of every master that has learned oogway's kung fu because his ego cant let anything related to oogway survive, tai lung is greedy, he learnt the 1000 scrolls but thats not enough for him, he also wants the dragon scrolls.
YIPEE! NEW LUCKY VIDEO!
Nah, I think Kai forsook music as well: his theme samples Imagine Dragons' "I'm So Sorry". Also, I think I read on TV Tropes that jade is not to be used in combat.
Great Video! I'm interested in seeing if your theory on the Chameleon will hold up once we learn more about, her?
Loved the video, please turn up the volume I had to use a volume extension and turn it to 300%
7:48 Music too, he’s the only one that has a theme song
kai pursueing for music during the off screen time xD
they f*ked it up in kung fu panda 4
i love how character design and hairstyle make him look like a chinese dragon
Mass Effect 3 ending ahhhh thumbnail 😭😭😭
i was so confused at first. when you were naming the 7 virtues i was just looking away and heard you say ''the netherlands'', only later realizing you said ''benevolence''😅
Would you be so kind as to do a video about Rango? I love Rango’s character designs
🐆💙
🦚❤️
🐂💚
KFP1(Tai Lung) 💙
KFP2(Lord Shen) ❤
KFP3(Kai The Collector) 💚
KFP4(The Chameleon) 💛 or (🧡-8:28) (because in the scene of the first trailer where the chameleon takes tai lung's abilities the background is orange).
KFP5💜(????????)(i don't know the color what represents iether orange?).
KFP6💛(A Evil Panda)(i thought yellow was the final color for this movie but i could be wrong, when i'm going to the cinema and see the film we will know what is the color).
I bet the fifth villain will be purple
Holy fuck Tai Lung might be my favorite antagonist in literally anything
Too bad 4th one screw over.
Everybody loves Kung Fu fighting
I would say purple and blue fits tai lungs motivation. Also tai lung isn’t dead if that’s what you’re saying. And lord shen just wanted to make his parents proud of him by doing everything he does to do it.
This is a guess but what about the colour Teal since her eyes when she turns to Po is Teal I’m not 100% but it’s a theory.
I was in thinking about that today
Yessss color theory!!!
Its just a theory A GAME THEORY🫡🫡🫡😃😃😃
Golden is the embodiment of heroism. Yellow, sickness.
I wonder which colour does the chameleon have
Shen’s downfall to himself makes more sense when you realise he fell to his own cannon
imo the chameloen could have a mix color, some red, mostly yellow, and some teal blue, kai is most definatly green, shen is red and white, and tai lung, yellow and blueish
Speaking of that the title logos have a theme on it's colors too, the first one be red and yellow, also the second has red and yellow too a bit of white , the third one with yellow and green, and the forth one yellow mixed with teal and green with a dragon texture
Not only do I love this theory but your voice is amazing
Now it’s purple I believe for Chameleon
Nah it's yellow
These movies are so much more than they should be ahahah
5:20 It's not painted. Yes supposed to be albino.
Albinism doesn't add red pigments. Real albino peacocks are just white.
1:03
Imagine Po fighting Jakey Chan.
Fun fact in Japanese culture is that the color white sometimes represents death, and seeing how much shen has killed in the 2nd film to accomplish his goal the color white definitely suits him
Zhang ya wu zhao jian shen cao
Theory:
Po's enemies represent the four horsemen of the apocalypse.
Kai - Death
The Chameleon - Famine
Lord Shen - War
Tai Lung - Conquest
Tai Lung tried to take over Po's role, explaining his conquest. Lord Shen commited genocide against innocent pandas, explaining his war. Kai wanted nothing more than the deaths of the kung fu masters for their chi, explaining how he is death. Chameleon is taking every villain's chi, starving them of it, making her famine.
This also links to the fact that their colour theme might be based on a painting of the four horsemen
Shen
Dann good video
Tai Long and Darth Maul are the same character in different situations and father figures.
well that lasted
The Tri-force
I have a THEORY for the colors…
I've heard of the symbolism before, but they just said this
Yellow represents good
Blue represents evil
Red represents power
Green represents wisdom
That's why on the dragon scroll, we see yellow, red, and green.
But this video expands on that way more
That or the production designers just randomly chose these colours... that's a possibility too.
Noone just randomly chooses things tbh
They threw this out for KFP 4 tbh
So wait, Tai Lung has sith eyes?
What about white in kfp?
Wait these ate the matpat colors?
Actually Shen has more red then black.
