Lately I learned that vinegar works pretty well when it comes to keeping spiders away. I don’t know if it’s a dumb question but could vinegar be dangerous to a pet owl?

Hello. We bale Teff and lusern and a barn owl has made a nest with 12 chicks in the hay. The mom only comes once in a while to feed the chicks. When you come closer, she flies away. What should we do to get the chicks out of the hay. We're afraid that if we move the chicks, she would leave the nest. What should we do???

I was gonna tell my sister this advice but that was when i found out her owl died, it’s so sad to see her favourite pet die, it randomly died when she was asleep, she feeds her everyday so i don’t know how the owl died, r.i.p. owl
You specified no wild mice and rats, but would wild squirrels and rabbits be okay for them? If so would they work as a main food source?
Thanks for commenting! No, in my opinion they would not be okay for them to eat as a main source of food because rabbits and squirrels are power food and I've known owls who just dropped dead because their owners gave them to much power food at once or for a too long period of time. Owls don't constantly catch rabbits and squirrels in the wild either. Barn owls mainly catch mice and rats and maybe an occasional rabbit if they're lucky. Don't get an owl if you can't find one day old chicks in your country... It will end badly...

Well, as much as I'd love my own pet owl, the first "don't" that comes to mind is: don't get an owl pet. It's such a beautiful animal who indubitably is miserable as a captive.

Why do you want to "own" a wild creature?
Sometimes they are adopted from adoption centrums because they aren't be able to go in the wild. Sometimes they get sold but before you say "a wild creature" alot of animals we keep are wild or need more space then people recommend. As long you take more then good care for whatever you want it can even be alligator. And in this video you can tell she loves her owl very much. Also if the owl is stressed or in bad condition you can tell right away
this should be basic slave owl care... obviously the owl is not free to choose

Do not turn these beautiful wild animals into pets!! Encouraging idiots to do this is beyond sad. If you want owls in your life, do the training and become a licensed rescuer for wildlife. The wildlife trade is disgusting!
