  • The Safe by UGEARS is an assembly kit that can be assembled without any glue or metal parts. I gave it a try and was amazed by the design. Even the 3 digit combination lock worked as intended!

This is an awesome kit/puzzle. The quality of the laser cut parts are very impressive. The wood looks like the “light plywood” they use for R/C airplane kits. It’s very nice to work with, and it’s very sturdy. You did a great job assembling it. That’s definitely worth having just for it’s coolness factor and as a conversation piece. It just begs to be looked at!

Not just a puzzle, and not just a safe either, but actually a beautifully constructed piece of art as well, in my opinion. There must have been quite a lot of work put into the designing of this safe, the outside is very aesthetically pleasing and there is quite a lot of storage space on the inside as well, all the parts look as if they fit together very nicely and move smoothly. Of course it shouldn't be used for actual security, as it is quite easily broken apart, but it looks amazing and is a very nice novelty item. It would be perfect for storing little things on your desk or something, for anyone who loves puzzles. Thanks for the great video Mr. Puzzle, really love this one.

Absolutely love these videos. You're so passionate and engaging to watch, and of course always with some fun and unique things to discuss. Even the videos on more common puzzles you cover are very helpful, since many people will probably have them and can try along. Love the UGEARS kits as well; they're so interesting and well-made. It's nice because they're functional in some way, which makes them more than just models, and the principles of putting together (or taking apart) pieces definitely also applies to many other puzzles and trick boxes, too.

I had this sitting in my closet for over a year until I got the time I thought it would take to assemble. Only tool I used was an Xacto knife to clean up some of the separation flashing. Setting the combination was confusing so I set aside about 99% complete and with the door propped open. Everything works properly but I am not sure of the combination so will not close the door. A lot of fun to put together and looks cool as hell. It holds my collection of cast/machined silver bullets.

I’m almost done with the Hurdy gurdy. I had to use pliers, but they provide extras of the small parts. You can also sand the connections to make them easy to fit together. I too made the mistake of not paying attention to the instructions and had to go back a lot of steps. I know it’s just a toy, but it does play, and the satisfying part is the strange beauty of the plywood and the way the gears work. I forgot how much fun it is to work with my hands.

  • @jeffreybernath6627

I have the train from U Gears, which can actually run, if you wind up the rubber bands enough. I have had it for over a year and I am too scared to put enough tension on the rubber bands to make it go! It is still a beautiful machine, it stays on my coffee table, and I always show off all the moving parts and doors and stuff. It took me probably 8 hours to build (over several days). My only complaint is that I also bought extra track, which they sell as an additional set, but it only has straight track, no turns! If I could lay out a circle or any kind of loop, I might have wanted to see it move enough to get over my fear of tensioning the rubber bands. But as it is, I still do not regret the purchase, and building it was enough fun to make it worth the purchase.

not exactly puzzles, but I would love to see you tackle one of their more complex models like the gm truck or locomotive. In the future, I highly recommend a small hammer with the head covered in cloth/ a rubber mallet because some structural pieces are very very tight. If you can, I also highly recommend a nail file set to grind down some of the nubs or to make certain pieces a little more loose, as well as something like sturdy tweezers to help push out some really small pieces. all of these extra tools saved my fingers from being rubbed to the bone

Amazing! I'd almost forgotten the other UGears vid, but this one I'll definitely not forget.
First Hanayama, now UGears.. Mr Puzzle will surely bankrupt me before long. ;)
Great editing too, btw. Although I did keep wondering when that music was going to get past the intro and actually *start*..
Also; "sounds a little bit vintage here" is such a cool phrase. Lol. Is that a translated German idiom? Certainly not a phrase I'd heard before (but will be using in the future).

Dude, what if you live streamed one of these building kits? You know what would honestly be amazing... watching you solve a puzzle for the first time, in real time. Live. Yo, just think about it, k?
