I'm a teacher and have battled with social anxiety for years. Almost everyday I feel it rising in my throat and feel like I need to walk out of the classroom. I know if I give in to that fear once then I'll go downhill fast. Nobody at work has any idea about my problems. They all think I'm confident. Like Goggins said, we're all fucked up in some way but we just hide it.
Sounds weird but I cured anxiety (from grief) by running everyday before work. Running produces anti anxiety chemicals in your brain. I’m also a teacher so I know what it’s like, God bless and good luck
Just a note. I overcame The anxiety of talking In front of big groups by removing my importance and focusing on the importance of the message. When I 1st started it was how do I look. What about me. As I grew better in to myself I realize it is not about me it is about the word is about helping other people. I hope that helps. A group of us study David goggins daily. For me he is a door opener. And I am thankful
This man with his teachings has almost become like a second father to me. 2 years ago my philosophy in life was simple: "a comfortable life where i am happy and not struggling", while the same time i had some humungous goals. I wanted to be a neurosurgeon, but i strayed away cause it was "too hard" and "too long" and i wanted to enjoy my 20s and what not. So i gave it up. Then there was my goal of buidling a better physique and learning art. I would have big goals but i would stop halfway through cause i was too tired or unmotivated. Then there was my personality. I was an asshole to everyone, everyone in my family treats everyone like crap mamy times (dont get me wrong, we all love each other from the bottom of our hearts, but yes we can be asses). I dismissed all this as ok, that this all is normal. I avoided girls and marriage because i was scarred of the massive divorce rate. For everything, i was scarred. Of pain. And then i developed an exiatential crisis. I hated my self, the way i looked, the way i treated others, the way my future was gonna be, until i found david goggins and jordan peterson. Jordan told that in a mans life, we shouldnt be chasing comfort, we should be chasing responsibility. Painful ones, its what makes life wonderful. As for david goggins? He taught me that the MOST DIVINE quality of a person, a quality everyone should strive to achieve, a quality people with the most perfect lives, was mental toughness. And it all clicked. We are born in this world to fight for our goals. To fight other, situations, hardships, and mosr importantly, to fighr ourself. The war within is the most meaningful war, and if you win it, your life is full of "meaning". The real beauty of marriage isnt when things are amazing, no its when things are shit. Its when you both fight your desires and work together as a unit. A mentally tough person isnt an ass to everyone even if he wants to be. Currently i have put myself on a very rigorous cardio routine. At first, i couldnt last 5 minutes. I knew i could go longer, but i didnt. Cause i was mentally tough enough. Now tho? I did cardio to the point of lightly injuring myself (DONT DO THAT BTW). Im proud. And im.learning to fight. To get stronger. To chase responsibility. Thanx david.
Tbh , I blamed break ups and my father and mother for having the worst cases of anxiety and depression from his abusive and cruel house rules. I lived a childhood very similar to his. I skipped school a lot as a student at high school to get “high” but I did it so I wouldn’t face people because I was shy. I finally snapped in my senior year when I eventually spend most of my sophomore and junior year in an alternative school “relating” my life problems with low life’s and losers. Then one day my mother at dinner one night was talking on the phone with a family member saying my name with disgust. I spent that whole night crying in my sleep. She was right, I was a fucking disgrace not only to my family ,but to my own self. How could I look myself in the mirror and tell myself that everything is going to be okay. I knew in my soul that it will only get worse. That night I spent the whole night studying till early morning for school. The average person at that school would have one credit in 3 months. I did 14 credits in 3 months or less. I did not cheat, I quit my job and used up all my saving to support for dinner and rent. I threw away my bed and told myself I’ll get another one when I earn it . My new bestfriend became redbull, I graduated tho, now that I’m done. I’m enlisting myself to prove to myself that even tho I’m a nobody, I will try my best everyday to keep moving forward no matter what.
This is an awesome testimony man but you gotta stop drinking red bull. That stuff shouldnt even be legal. Causes perfectly healthy middle aged ppl to have massive heart attacks. Look into it.
David Goggins is one of my favorite human beings of all time. Aside from all the jokes about how tough he is, I genuinely love how truthful he is about his vulnerabilities and how he has overcome great adversity. Truly a beautiful human being.
Before coming here i had to get pumped up in the car for like a hour because i'm still that introverted shy guy . This hit so hard! Im not the only one
I just got out of the muck and on to the sidewalk myself, through nutrition & exercise. At 38 years old, I'm finally looking for the cliff. This podcast was exactly how I'd hoped to start the day.
I don't know why I feel like sharing but this I can somewhat relate to Goggins. His father was a mess towards his kids...as was mine. He would beat us and my mother when I was very young, I just thought that that was how people grew up. Later realizing through kids at school, that they did not deal with the same type of beatings my father gave me. I hated him throughout my adolescent years...and still do but not as much. When I attended college, I started thinking to myself "Why was my father like this?" He was drunk when he did most of the terrible things. He also had a father who left his mother and wasn't there for the most part. His mother would beat him as well. Now, after watching Goggins talk about his experience...I realize what I must do. I hope I can build up the courage to do so.
I had a step-dad who did these things too...hate him, but he had a very troubled childhood as well. Idk if I can ever see him again without throwing a punch but I'll have to try to make peace somehow...
@@Yuspliff same way with me bro...i had a fucked up sted dad and years ago if me or my brother saw him we woulda ko'ed him on sight...but now...he had a fucked up life and i see that now...i still have serious savage tendencies...had too slap a dude the other day...but i lose when i let my emotions control me...im tryna let go off all my anger...i dunno man..its a process..but im in it
Turning terrible life experiences into "Thats God hooking you up, you've been in training for 18 years to deal with this".... The epitome of positivity, such a FUNNY, crazy guy in all the BEST WAYS!
I agree with what he says. Training or any adversity makes us grow. Before I started lifting weights I used to be stressed out over small things, over thought too much, mind was in one place and the body in the other. When you lift that hardest and max weight you can lift and hold it, your body and mind starts to work together. Then you'll be one with the body and mind. That was probably when David started to "find himself", when the body meets the mind.
That’s usually how it works. People mistake me for a bitch cause I like small animals and cuddling my gf. Yet they don’t realize I used to be a good football player/wrestler in hs. Ideally “tough guys” should be protecters. Military, police etc.
It's hard to stay mad, after you've broken pull-up records, run 100 mile marathons, etc... He releases all his anxiety through physical pursuits. THAT'S why he seems so chill. Have you seen the video here on CZcams, "Who's gonna carry the boats?!" where he's incline benching? Check THAT shit out, & see how "gentle" he is!
Think of dogs, it's allways the little chiuauas that are mad and angry, the german sheperds usualy are calm and colected. Once you've prooven yourself you don't fear otherrs and there is no need for agression.
"I dont judge, I start studying you". I love that quote. There is so much more to people then what they actually say....where they are coming from, what experiences they have had...
"You can't live with hate. You can't move forward" Here this whole time I've been hating myself but using it as some form of motivation. After listening to this I realize I need to change things up in my life. And just bought the book.
Never ran an entire mile without stopping in my life, didn’t think I could even do it. After watching this I ran 2 continuous miles at a 7 speed on the treadmill. Crazy.

Cliff Taylor xx fuck the pursuit of happiness this right here is real fucking happiness. Make a Goggins movie. This is real deal raw happiness people can definitely relate to Goggins this is so pure. made me get my act together real fucking quick
Fred Wu that is your experience and maybe most people’s experience but for some people who didn’t have the advantages that you have had in life (like me) school was really difficult when you have fucked up things going on at home or bad influences and friends and all this stuff and that takes a toll on your schooling. I’ve been hearing what you have said my whole life and I agree that school SHOULD be the easiest thing you accomplish in your life. But you are looking at it from only your perspective. For me, I had nobody there to tell me to finish school or the importance of graduating high school. I had nobody to help me study or to get on my ass about my low grades and attendance. I was held back twice and my second time was sophomore year and I was tired of being made fun of and looked down upon for being so dumb. I realized in that moment that everyone else that thinks school is easy and if you fail you are stupid, are the same people who have had all the supplies they have ever needed. Caring parents, loving home, Tudor if needed. But you must realize not a lot of people have these tools to help them and without all of them things it is so easy for a kid to neglect the importance of school. I went on later that school year to join a military academy and graduated before the people making fun of me with a higher gpa than them, I attained college credits, picked up a trade, all within 6 months. It was one of the proudest moments of my life getting my diploma because I had nobody to thank but myself for putting in the work. I can see how you think it’s easy with the mindset you have. But I hope you can take something from this and I didn’t write this for nothing.
This is exactly what I'm working on in life exercising for my mental health and every time I try to explain this no one gets it but this guy explains it perfectly.
9:00-10:000 What he said Is what I felt. Fat, ugly, and no mental pain. I worked out not to loss weight but pass time, workout, play basketball, and take advantage of my time. I’m skinny now and fell back in the same spot. No motivation no hope. Difference is I have a daughter. Wife. And a family to take care of. These two have helped me more than I ever thought.
Wow! This is extremely inspiring! I’ve been finding myself for the past 5 months! Hitting the gym twice a day! And I do it for my mental health and this just shown me that I’m becoming stronger for me. Thank you for this podcast!
Good luck with your mental health it’s so deceiving because it’s stealthy In a way and you could be going through you’re individual problems coping well but there could be a point we’re you break and it is like the life is sucked out of you and it’s hard to understand and explain . pure poetry I used to look at my life from a different vantage point, and when you're in all the muck, and you're just walking in muck, and walking in muck, and walking in muck, you don't see that if you look off to the fucking left of the muck their’s a sidewalk, Brother. Get off. Get off of it. You have your head down looking at this muck. Once I got to the sidewalk I got a little break. And I got a different vantage point. And then from the sidewalk, I found a cliff. And then I found a mountain. I got way up high on top of my life and looked back down on it. and said “ok I gotta figure this out man, I'm not going anywhere”

Never listened or heard of Goggins until very recently but I feel like I learned some of these lessons along the course of my life up to now. Obviously not to his insane extent but “embracing the suck” changed my life for the better like you have no idea. The more difficult situations I put myself in and watched people next to me crumble it gave me energy. The worse I felt the more I thought I was building myself up to endure. I’m not smart enough to put into words the crazy personal and work situations I’ve put myself in but by loving the pain, the sweat, the feeling of being crushed by pain, I felt as though my mind was building muscles that would make me indestructible. As I’ve maintained this mentality for the last decade, I feel like my mental fortitude, my work ethic, my drive, it’s so beyond my “peers” and I owe it all to the suffering. Granted it’s from the perspective of my life experience but it’s amazing to see the levels of mental fortitude this mentality can take you. David goggins I feel like is the elite of this mentality, but even for average joes like me, you can rise above other to incredible heights. Embrace the suck is something severely lacking in the generations upcoming and it scares me in the society that will arise from it.
I've never done coke before but this guy if I was to theorize is literally like motivational Coke in human form. Your gift to people brother keep doing what you doing💯
Just putting a note for myself: you develop character and strenght in the mind by doing things that feel uncomfortable and doing it every day. Doing this the uncomfortable thing will become less uncomfortable, effectively expanding your comfort zone. Thus, you can do more difficult and uncomfortable stuff because you adapted. Keep going.
Hey David. I had problems with my Dad. I was always scared of him, often based on his behaviour, and I just wanted to respect him. Born in 1941 and so from a different time. We are where we are. God bless
@bronchoped1 What does that even mean anyway though?!?? “Time wasted” is very closed minded to say because who’s to say anything we do matters anyway?!?? We all die. And all the push ups and pull ups in the world would just die with your skeleton in your grave. Sure if you were successful you’ll inspire millions. But then after a few generations, they’ll forget you and you’ll be lost in time. Then what?!?? You’re dead anyway! The most successful man in the world and the most nobody in the world have one thing in common: they both end up in the same place... dead and eventually forgotten. And even if you are remembered, what does that even do anyway too?!?? It’s just a memory to other temporary lives and it’s all meaningless in the vastness of things. But I’m not full pessimistic about this. I do think we have a purpose but who’s to say if that purpose really matters anyway?!?? Just saying: People put way too much importance on “wasting time” forgetting that we could learn ONE ASPECT from animals or kids who aren’t even programmed to think something is time wasted YET. They just live in the moment and not worry if what they’re doing is wasting time or not. Sometimes I think they’re more blessed for that reason!
I always heard of David Goggins but I never really looked into him. Now, I wish I could've been learning these lessons from David a long time ago. Thanks for the great experience, Joe.
I’ve never seen my dad work in my life. He was retired at 35, having invested in real estate. He always said he loves hard work, he can observe it for hours.
You need to exercise 5 times a week for a year before you tell me you have anxiety

@Peter Guirguess you ever mastered a broken car? No? So how do you think it is to fix and master a broken mind?
@Peter Guirguess Lol who tf are you to be saying that? You sound like a complete dumbass.

That's really inspiring my friend. Keep moving forward, you are on the right path
Wishing you all the best. Thanks for being honest ✨
How's the military going for you?

This is an awesome testimony man but you gotta stop drinking red bull. That stuff shouldnt even be legal. Causes perfectly healthy middle aged ppl to have massive heart attacks. Look into it.
David Goggins is one of my favorite human beings of all time. Aside from all the jokes about how tough he is, I genuinely love how truthful he is about his vulnerabilities and how he has overcome great adversity. Truly a beautiful human being.

Sometimes we feel so alone and hopeless. But hearing Goggins gives me hope for courage and confidence.
I just got out of the muck and on to the sidewalk myself, through nutrition & exercise. At 38 years old, I'm finally looking for the cliff.
This podcast was exactly how I'd hoped to start the day.
Good luck mate!
While i was reading his book i went on 4 jogs in a week. I’ve never went on a jog before
Used to love running 5k and 10k til my knees went now i cant even jog luckily i can squat and row so i put my energy to that
hell yeah, keep it up!
Sam Chipchase how can you squat and not run? Wouldn’t squatting put more pressure on your knees
are you still jogging every week?
Right on man let's up it to five runs a week! WHO'S GONNA CARRY THE BOATS!?!!?!?
You can! You will!
Mine was just the same I understand all of that
I had a step-dad who did these things too...hate him, but he had a very troubled childhood as well. Idk if I can ever see him again without throwing a punch but I'll have to try to make peace somehow...

I believe that is part of it but I also believe that thinking while running has somewhat to do with it as well. Coming from a lifter and runner
I’m tryin to beat this opiate addiction for the last dam time.....

Me: I hate going to school
Goggings: Thats mental training
You discover school is the easiest thing you will ever accomplish in life
Fred Wu that is your experience and maybe most people’s experience but for some people who didn’t have the advantages that you have had in life (like me) school was really difficult when you have fucked up things going on at home or bad influences and friends and all this stuff and that takes a toll on your schooling.

Not only is Goggins really fit, he seems to be very intelligent and have a sort of philosophy mindset specifically towards his father. We could learn a lot from this man.

I was just thinking that hahahaha is it time wasted tho :/ ?
@@josephr.buchan467 Nothing enjoyable is time wasted so long as you do what you gotta do too.
