    Hi Arek, this was super insightful, thanks for sharing!
    I wanted to ask you a couple things:
    1) When it comes to the Timeline, how do you specify this part on your proposals. Do you normally run just a 6h strategy workshop with them? or do you propose them a more extended set of strategy sessions over time?
    2) What are the deliverables of the strategy itself? I'm not talking about the execution of identity design, but rather, if they hired only the strategy consultancy, what do you give them at the end?
    Here's where I'm feeling stuck with my own proposals. I'd love to have your input on this. Much love!

      1) I divide it into 3 x 2hr sessions.
      2) The deliverable is brand brief.

    I have been doing sales for many years, and I find this very insightful. After quitting my previous job in an advertising agency as a BD person, I realized how much I am in love with purposeful branding and human psychology since branding is exactly that. Even though I am not a designer, I realized that this gives me a huge opportunity to do something with a higher purpose, meet new people, help them and start working with my younger brother who is a designer. What would be your advice for people with no previous experience and without an agency, to start this job as freelancers? What should be the attitude? Thanks in advance, I really appreciate your selfless sharing (even thought it is a part of a great marketing strategy). :)

      If youre good at sales, then you need to develop some copywriting skill and preferably team up with some designers. How you approach your clients is really your choice but since youre passionate about sustainability and purposeful brands - then you can create a youtube channel or a blog and talk about the topic with some CTA so that clients can contact you should they need help.

    Do you think that every graphic designer needs to know how to handle brand strategy projects?

      I recommend all designers to be at least more strategic with their clients so that you can provide more value and charge more for your creative work.

    Thanks Arek ... one point you mentioned that we need to position ourself as a brand strategist rather than just a logo designer with our messaging on our website / social etc ... however you mention, you can't do this overnight. Can you advice a bit more on this transition .. for example, now I have a few projects in the past few years where I have done logos for clients and in the last year or so I have got into strategy but clients say exactly what you mention, I can get this for 100$ on Fiverr ... how do I build my portfolio of brand strategy projects if I haven't done any strategy work in the past and currently clients don't see the value in it ? Is it something I just offer for free to begin with ?

    • @ebaqdesign
      @ebaqdesign  Před 3 lety +1

      Exactly! You start by offering strategy for free to your regular design clients. I guarantee they will be delighted with your approach. Then after a few sessions you gonna have new strategic work to show in your portfolio, so that you can start changing the messaging on your website to reflect your new approach. Then sell a few sessions for some nominal fewe or just include strategy in the package but start raising your prices. Once you have more strategic work in portfolio and feel more confident in doing strategy, then you can start offering it as a separate mandatory step in your process.
