- In this installment in the Quran in Context series, we look at the Ethiopic Christian influence on the Quran's so-called "Preserved Tablet" mentioned in Q85:22 as being just a repackaging of the "Heavenly Tablets" from the book of Jubilees.
Excellent work. You should investigate the scholarship of Manfred Kropp where he argues an Ethiopic (more accurately Ge'ez) story about the Nine Saints (Tsadqan) feasting and being sustained by a common table miraculously sent from heaven, which is found in a Ge'ez homiletic text from the 6th century, is reflected and was probably transmitted to Surah al-Ma'idah 111-115 (the Arabic word ma'idah itself being a loanword from the Ge'ez word "ma'edd"). The parallels are quite striking and no other parallels has been found in any other Near Eastern text or story.
Do you have name of the book and reference? Which page?
Have you checked did Ethiopian church had Christian Siriac legends from surah 18, because sura 18 is all about Christians.
