    #SawX
    John Kramer (Tobin Bell) is back. The most chilling installment of the SAW franchise yet explores the untold chapter of Jigsaw’s most personal game. Set between the events of SAW I and II, a sick and desperate John travels to Mexico for a risky and experimental medical procedure in hopes of a miracle cure for his cancer - only to discover the entire operation is a scam to defraud the most vulnerable. Armed with a newfound purpose, John returns to his work, turning the tables on the con artists in his signature visceral way through a series of ingenious and terrifying traps.

Only 12 people managed to survive the traps in 10 different scenarios throughout the franchise and the most iconic of all of them would be the first saw where the doctor Gordon sawed off his leg, escaped the room and cauterized the wound with a hot steampipe...its considered the most tamed trap of all saws to date.

    Compared to a lot of the traps, this one seems fairly reasonable. The victim only has to endure the pain of breaking his fingers to keep his eyes. The recovery from broken fingers will be awkward, with some lengthy rehabilitation, but odds are that the fingers will make a full recovery.
    In a lot of the other traps, unless someone is able to think quickly with a creative solution, there's no way to avoid being maimed in some way. You either accept being maimed or you die, you pick between different methods of maiming yourself, or you compete/fight against someone else for survival.

      Yeah, this trap seems more like a test for pain tolerance and forcing yourself into going through pain, rather than injuring yourself severely in some way. Beyond pain and being forced into dealing with a recovery process, there isn't much of a cost to surviving this trap.
      It's not like the janitor is forced into causing a permanent injury. If he had to pick between keeping his eyes or cutting off his own fingers, that would be closer to the classic "Saw trade off" for surviving a trap.

      The consequences for losing are also way less dire, it’s painful and extremely brutal, but it won’t kill you (that is, unless it gets to your brain in some way and begins with that) which also makes this the only saw trap not created to absolutely murder the victim, or, in better words, the first saw trap that doesn’t kill someone either way.

I got excited because of how well this scene really delivered the fact that this is a Saw film. The camera shots the icky green and blue color of the camera, the panic, and the rapid spin and motion shots are so iconic to Saw films, as well as the dirty atmosphere, the rusty metal, and the music. It was incredible and I think I might’ve gotten a little too excited about it in the theater lol.

    Spiral and Jigaw had their motifs that called to the other movies but for this I think this is the first trap in 13 years with the classic Saw editing. The clarity of new cinema and griminess that the old Saw movies brought in the mid to late 00s is genuinely cool to see, it's like I traveled back in time to 2004.

    The bulging of the eyes is one of the most gruesome scenes in the whole franchise. This trap quite possibly could beat the fish hook and garage trap for most being the most brutal in the series.
    I also like that this trap has no bullshit like having to fight someone else or having to rely on someone else to be saved. I like this back to formual, subject can win on their own trap

    For me, escaping this trap is a pretty easy choice. Most traps in the series involve making some kind of permanent body sacrifice or enduring horrendous mutilation to win, to the point that death may be more favourable (aka michael in the venus fly trap). But getting your fingers snapped backwards, while still extremely painful, is getting off easy in my opinion. Only one hand, and you get to keep all your fingers and likely make a full recovery. A waaaay easier decision, than say the finger trap in Spiral.

      1: even if he breaks his fingers his eyes are being sucked, which would give him a lot of trauma to not only the eyes but to the brain itself.
      2: the vacuum sucking his eyes would already hurt as hell and having to break his fingers AT THE SAME TIME is nuts.
      3: he has only 60 seconds to deal with eye pain, panic, shock, anxiety, fingers breaking and having to break them one by one.
      This trap to me feels kinda unbeatable.

    • @RaidingTheTomb
      @RaidingTheTomb Před 8 měsíci +10

      @deadpoolvega So I'm a critical care medic as my job, and this is not an unbeatable trap. Now I can't say for 100% certainty how everything will work until we see the film but you can survive having your eyes sucked out. It won't cause any trauma to the brain as the brain is protected inside a subdural space in the cranium. I've dealt with a couple eye trauma cases (they're the nastiest btw) and no it doesn't cause brain trauma (psychological 100% tho). The fingers being broken will even be almost 100% repairable as well as it appears it's just straight breaking them and not crushing them to dust like the unbeatable pendulum trap.

    • @deadpoolvega
      @deadpoolvega Před 8 měsíci +3

      @@RaidingTheTomb thanks for correcting me! Good to see those traps on a pov of a medic. So if he eyes get sucked out he wouldn't die immediately? But the vacuum during the trap 60 seconds and his fingers being broken wouldn't hurt like... a lot? And doing that in 60 seconds with all the anxiety and panic is hard. And hey wouldn't he pass out due to all the pain of eyes getting sucked+fingers being breaking?

    • @RaidingTheTomb
      @RaidingTheTomb Před 8 měsíci +7

      @deadpoolvega So the whole "passing out" is a huge horror movie myth. The body can withstand an IMMENSE amount of pain like IMMENSE. You pass out from blood loss more than it hurting a lot. Now we can't see exactly how the trap operates, but if we assume it doesn't reach full sucking potential until the 60-second mark then I'm assuming he probably has 30 seconds to break his fingers before an eye is sucked out. He will definitely experience some eye trauma but if breaks his fingers fast enough it won't do any more damage to his face. He'll probably experience bruising and slight tearing of the eye around the 20 second mark, eye popping out but still attached to the skull at around 30-40 seconds and then at 60 seconds would be irreparable damage to the eyes with them detached entirely. We can btw repair eye pops. It's a surgical procedure but I've seen patients have their eyes literally clawed out to where they're holding them in their hands and it's attached solely by the veins and it be reparable (you will still lose sight in the affected eye but it's repairable). I saw one patient who had their entire eye ripped out during an altercation where a female took a stiletto heel and literally popped the patient's eye out her socket.

      But its not a as bad when you know the fingers are just getting broken. I would turn all fingers up at once and the pain would be manageable. After that you dont even lose anything, you just go to the hospital and get your fingers fixed. I once snapped my fingers back in an accident, and it was not that bad. It hurt for 5 months and they were not broken, but its definitely not as bad as the eye sucking tubes. Any normal human would just break the fingers and get out of there. If you do all at once its like you slipped and landed on your hand and broke your fingers. That can happen when you slip on a banana peel or on ice.

    I like how each >authentic and escapable saw trap gives a double meaning for example, the group trap in Saw 5 where the selfish nature of the victims blinded them from seeing that all the traps can easily be beaten without anyone dying by just working together and that each must give an equal amount of effort for it to be successful. and the theme are you willing to go through pain and sacrifice to be free and "learn your lesson" or do nothing and face the consequences of your actions.
