It actually makes more sense to use the pool. A horse who is going to race in a couple of hours doesn't need over exercising. Over exercising could result in injuries as easily as under exercising. Swimming isn't a weight bearing activity, but it still builds muscle tone and stamina.

@@watermelonjuul3429 Horses 100% can and do swim, and even enjoy it. Racehorses constantly are taken to swim on beaches and they love it. Your statement is absolutely false.

I used to exercise the Arabians in Scottsdale in a water pool 30 years ago!

Then why are those horses out of breath and tired the second they go in the pool? Also I never ride a specific horse everyday, it would collapse on me.

Makayla Komrosky it’s purely so it doesn’t get caught up in his legs. They were lifting it up, especially because it was the horses first time in the water, if his tail gets caught in his legs it will hurt.

It’s not a bad thing for them to do that. If you know that you wouldn’t be saying what the heck

This is not abuse. Do you work with or know anything about horses. This builds muscle while taking weight off the legs of the horse. Horses are quite good swimmers. Horses also often enjoy a good swim. The first few times are rough but so is everything new for anyone. They use swimming as therapy for many athletic, injured or overweight people and animals.
