      Excellent observation

    • @MrJ4ckie
      @MrJ4ckie Před 7 lety +8

      That, and he also tends to hold his racket at almost a 90° angle to his arm, and also has slightly weird grips in some situations. His overhead grip is turned towards a panhandle grip more than other pros', and his underhand forehand grip is turned further towards a backhand grip than normal. Makes for slightly unusual angles.
      Just the lack of the non-racket hand looks a bit unsual, but not as weird as THW, as you can see with Wang Shixian who used her non-racket arm even less, but had more common technique and as a result looked less weird (or unusual).
      THW is also limited by that panhandl-y grip, as he needs to get further behind the shuttle and can create less of an angle -especially from his deep forehand- than other players. LD is one of the best at adjusting his grip, using almost a backhand grip when playing a late overhead shot, extending his reach just a bit to create unexpected angles or give himself room to play a hard smash.
