I had one exactly like that. Wish I had it now. My wife and I ride a Tri Glide now, but if I had one of my old Shovelheads, I would use that for my solo trips to the grocery store, etc. Miss that sound.

Use to own an old pan head in the sixties, 66 electro glide in the eighties. Can’t remember when I got rid of it. Have a 96 Vulcan 1500 now, been relegated to the garage for over 12 years. ( Vietnam war still trying to kill me). Doubtful I’ll ever ride again, good memories though. Thanks for posting this video

Thank you for your service. I've had quite a few friends who aren't able to ride anymore. That's why there are sidecars and convertibles and who knows what else. There should be a way to at least get you in the wind.

Now that sounds like a Harley supposed to sound. Myself, I'd put an old style fat bob tank on. I even like the paint color, and all the bright work. Looks good, sounds goog , and no doubt it rides good. An outstanding build.

Beautiful bike, and beautiful sound! I started riding in 1982 and last August bought my first shovel, a 1980 Superglide Fatbob. I've been living vicariously through your videos as I wait impatiently for spring to arrive on the Canadian prairies so I can ride again. Thanks for your videos!

I am so tempted to buy a Harley just for the pleasure of listening to the engine idle. My '70 Norton sounds almost like this but there is never any substitute for cubes. Always remember going for a demo ride on a 1340 back in the early 90's. Wanted to buy that machine so bad but they told me I had to wait one year.

Hi Mike, I managed to 'resurrect' a stock '76 FXE in the mid 80's here in England. A grey import in non-running condition, but under all the dirt it was exactly as it left the factory some 14,000mls earlier & judging by the black 'tar' in lieu of oil, it had never been serviced either! After a week of cleaning out gunge & bird nests (the tappet oil screens looked like plugs of liquorice with wire mesh in the middle.), we lubed him up & hit the button . . . then I fitted a new starter clutch & tried again, it worked.
After another week of riding & fettling, the motor was as sweet as a nut & spoke reliably about potatoes at every set of lights.
'Dennis', as we called him, was sold to a guy in Lincoln & as far as I know, is still trotting around. Great motor, great result : )

There it is, once again, my friend had Shovelhead and he would leave it on stand idling real slow almost rocking off the kickstand. I could listen to those long drag pipes all day. Chug a lug chug a lug. Sometimes after idling slow long time he would hit it and it would POP !
