Past condianoal tense : we use it for something we could have done differently / could have been different
Things that didn't happen things we regret
Examples :
If i had gone to the party last night I would have been very tired today.
If my parents had missed missed their flight back to Los Angeles this morning they would have been very upset.
If I had prepared for the interview I would have been hired
It would have been a great idea to bring a jacket
I owe you one, because my party last night would've been a disaster if you hadn't brought a cake
I am so happy that it is sunny today. I would have been very upset if it had been gloomy.

wow.. it's amazing.!! I'm Korean and English learner. I have been struggling the exactly how to use "would have been". I heard the explanations in Korean even several times. . But this video helps me understand! But I know the "understand" is not completion of learning. So I'm gonna again and again watch this video!
Example :"If the weather had been sunny, it would have been a nice party!"

Correct me if I am wrong but I think that the example you have made about names in 1920's is correct, we can say " if I were born in 1920's my name would be Margaret " it is the second conditional if clause besides it would be more obvious if you separated between "I would have been+ p.pverb " and "I would have +adjective " because the first one is passive tense whereas the second is default clause .
