If I seem a bit scatter-brained, it's because I got ZERO minutes of sleep last night and no it wasn't a party.
This is a prime example why the ref should be required to have billiards knowledge and experience, and why replays in any sport is vitally important for the integrity and trust of the sport and its officials.
I'm really bothered by the refs performance here. I tried to raise the volume on when she was talking about Roberto. You can almost hear her resort to playing the victim because Gomez had a concern on the table.
@@poolhustlersinc true there was definitely a lack of professionalism from the ref. it sounded like she may have had a favorite in the match, and was trying to help her favorite to win.
Regardless, I mean I've just never seen a ref this bad. First the missed non-foul, then playing the victim, refusing the replay, then actually say,ing out loud that "Roberto has gone mental." You can see Roberto heard that too. Like you don't do that when the players are out and being in the zone. Money on the line.

Dude, I share your anger for this situation. That ref fucked Gomez in a multitude of ways. Why can I (watching FILMED CONTENT) show a replay and zoom in but thousand dollar match ref can't? Are you fuckin kidding me?

Well sadly even if he did agree he can't overturn the call made by the referee...but I'm sure albin knew he hit it but he has no say with what goes...also the referee was being a little temperamental by accusing Roberto of being insane when he clearly has every right under the rules to ask for a second opinion or give the referee a chance to fix a bad call
I am not a pro, but I could even tell by the sound that the 3 was hit first. Then the video slow mo replay just confirms it 100 %. This ref should be fired.

Yeah, for sure brother. At the end of the video I did ask what other people think and or saw. So I have to be respectful of opposing opinions as well. I'm much more enjoyed productive conversation than the name calling.

It's obvious without slow motion that the ref made a bia'st wrong call. Gomez is actually correct in what he said, the dumb ref should never be used again. It's also obvious she didn't like Gomez. Call pissed me off.
I'm really with you on this. The more I watch the video oh, the more I was actually mad for Gomez. Props to him for being so respectful and professional. I cannot promise that I would have done the same.

Even in the local bar leagues I play, when it’s gonna be a close hit, someone watches the shot and even will take a slo-mo video on their phone. You would think Matchroom would have at least equal technology.

I had not seen this before but watching at full speed (first run through) , the direction that the 7 ball went, it is obvious that it was a good hit.
let matchroom pool see this so that lady gets fired! purely unacceptable. she made a costly mistake and embarrassed the player. SMH
Matchroom already saw this and did a copyright claim. Now don't get me wrong, I watch match room to fall asleep at night because pool is that relaxing to me. Pool is my calm place. So I really do enjoy watching matchroom. But so far the only response has been to copyright claim my video and no explanation for this. Not one that I've seen so far.

how come.. in such a big huge tournament like this, there's no VR system being use on each match.

Yea dude. Complete garbage ref. No not even try, call Gomez hostile OUT LOUD, and then play the victim. Just bull$hit in a big tournament.
I feel bad for Roberto. I had someone call a foul on a league match that I knew wasn’t, and I already felt bad. I cannot even imagine in a championship like that, where one mistake may cost you the match.
I've lost league matches in tears cuz I gave absolutley 100% of my soul to the game. Which is the part of me that really empathizes with Roberto. It's just sucks to watch it. That ref stole something from him that can't be given back to him.
Maybe redemption is on his mind and I hope so. This is just ugly.

I agree it was the wrong call. Every sport will have some level of miscall. NBA, NHL, Football (Soccer) you name it. It's part of the game, some times you're just at the wrong place at the wrong time

Wow it was so obvious to me it was not a foul! I didn't need a replay for that. Roberto a class act as always!
The ref later said after Roberto walked away to Albin that she thought the cue ball hit the cushion then the 7 ball, sending it down table and that's why the 7 is there. It's sad that they're hiring refs who clearly haven't played very much pool at a high level, the trajectories of the balls tell you everything, you almost never need a replay unless it's that Earl shot. They did Roberto dirty and ofc he played god awful after this incident understandably.
FOR REAL! The more I think about it, The more the situation actually makes me mad for Gomez. But fairly, I've been in (what is to me) as higher level competitions where I knew I HAD TO show up.
I think about the days of being on and off the practice table 10 hours a day. I truly feel some type of way for Roberto here. 1 ref completely removed him with a horrible call, no replay, money on the line and said out loud that he was "mental" while he was in the 6th round of a Predator Championship.
It doesn't sit well with me.
@@poolhustlersinc Roberto lost the previous group final hill hill where he should've won with 3 balls left and ball in hand position. After that, he must be struggling mentally already, then to have this happen is like a slap to the face. To complain so much and have it shut down completely must have killed him inside. Just by his reaction the ref should realize she's wrong, they would referee themselves better than this shitty ref.
If he hit the 7 first the 7 would have went in the opposite direction. It's impossible for the 7 to cut backwards at a 90 degree angle at that speed like that if it was hit first.
He hit that i could see that in real time the ref should have been placed to watch that closely...called it completely wrong...what did strickland once say?..."ill be glad when Pool is a sport"

If it was a foul, it’d be a Ball-in-hand, if it wasn’t, then it’s an open table anyway - pretty much the same on Albin’s perspective. It’s the doubt on the integrity and competency of a referee a wrong call presents is why Roberto had to ask that the decision be reviewed.
How come they couldn’t check it out like you did? They do it in professional sports all them time during games? 🏈 🏀
To me, the ref didn't handle it very well. She automatically got defensive of the call and made Roberto Gomez out to be there problem.

I don’t know the tools for pool but when my son played football I know they would have a few seconds to look at the last play and make the right call! For the most part!
Clearly the referee has less knowledge in pool games. She should not be tasked to do the job, instead assign someone who is an experienced referee to avoid controversy. These people playing in this pool event are high level players. They deserve top caliber referees.

the foul looked good to me the first time I saw it. I hear two distinct contacts, and I felt the 3 move before the 7 did.
Plus, in any replay, roberto would be right, the 7 should have moved to the right of the screen if it were hit first. That was completely no the case.

The ref is also the same ref who racked a 9ball rack and didn't even put the 9ball in the middle. I forget what tourney but it was last year with one of the Fisher girls. Maybe she should get training
I’m sure Albin knew that it was impossible for the balls to go like that had he hit the 7 first. If I was him I would have said straight off. No probs, I’m playing the balls from where they stand now as it was a fair shot and just carried on. Would send a clear message to the ref that she was wrong and also would keep the game flowing… (that being said I don’t actually know the resolution, did AO pick up and run out?)

Anyone with eyes should've seen that it was a correct hit.. You don't even need to concider the paths of the balls unless you are actually legally blind.

That's why every shot should be recorded very closely and able to view it in slow motion. Also the ref should've been standing where she could clearly see. Absolutely ridiculous!!! Also Roberto didn't cause any problems. He was totally professional about it. What was all that about?

But I'm just referring to professional pool the combination of Technology giving at the exposure do the game. So of course there was sharking lot back in the day but now times are pretty different in professional pool. I was just saying keep the Integrity in the game.

1 snap the cue and leave the match
2 leave the match if refeere doesnt look the shot on slow motion on the monitor..

Gomez is being a bigger person here and a true gentleman towards the two ladies.
I got to say I am really proud of him. I have a little bit more of a temper when I'm being accused of something I didn't do. Which I know to most seems like I'm lying but I'm just really passionate lol. You're absolutely correct; 100% complete gentleman.

Losing the game or money is nothing compared to losing ur dignity and integrity

The reff wasn't even positioned correctly to make the call in my opinion... I wonder if she even plays pool... And come on Albin you know that's not a foul and for those who say he may not have been watching I say as a pool player when you leave your opponent in that sort a position and he has to kick at or jump to get at a ball to especially in 9 ball you are always watching ALWAYS

The raft really dropped the ball. If she thought that there was going to be a potential foul situation she should have been watching it more closely. There's no excuse for this.

Clearly its not a foul. She should learn how to play pool until she can pocket at least 5 - 7 balls, learn the rules and keep an eye on the balls every time each player is shooting. Like in this situation where the object balls are near this is the kind of angle where the referee should have good use of their eyes to see if the shot is good or foul. THIS REFEREE IS A CHEAT.
I noticed also earlier Gomez was taking a shot he was close to brown ball he could have nudged it...she was standing behind him ? So no way was she best placed to see something like that..a very poor ref. Clueless

Yeah that's called to keeping Integrity in the game. Album could have been a better Sportsman however I will give it to him that everything was happening pretty fast. The ref was rushing the situation.
