This OS was beautiful.I love how the UI is simple and non distracting. I occasionally still use my Lumia 650 but more and more apps keep crashing due to being non supported. Such a shame.
As a Pixel 7 Pro and iPhone 13 mini I really, really miss this phone. People say iOS devices have the best fluidity and support but this phone still works like butter today even though is not even supported anymore. Yes, it was way ahead of its time.
Man I loved windows Phone. They looked great, features were way ahead of their time and the interface was simply great! I'd go back in a heartbeat if they made it again today.
Window phones were great. They gave you the option to install your apps on the memory card. I liked the os because you could you could change the size of the app icons and app folders. Some of the phones had removable batteries so you could easily replace the battery yourself. I also liked how Windows Phone was compatible with your PC's Windows Media Player so you could import music playlists from your PC to your phone.
I miss my Windows phone so much! 😭 the live tiles made it so I never forgot anything bc it was all live on one screen. I wish they just would have had access to all the apps :(
You are still able to complete a reg edit on the 930 to spoof it into being a 950XL and get the last OS updated. Run app updates through the store after doing this and Weather will work once again! Windows Phones still make excellent digital detox devices with great cameras and the basics. Spotify and Telegram will still work to some degree, as does the Guardian news app. I still take a 950xl on holiday for it's great camera and for being slightly more disconnected. Great throwback video as always ☺️
I send my Lumia 950 back after some weeks in 2016. It often crashed and the camera pictures always got this yellow tinge. Today, I only have the Lumia 930 and 1520 as my personal phones, and I'm happier with both than I ever was with the Lumia 950. Still, I hope you continue to enjoy your 950 XL.

I want to know how to fix the weather app on my 950XL. Any tutorials on that? Telegram does not work to some degree, it just works great. Exactly the same as on an iPhone or my Mac.
I had this one and the 1520, and man do I miss it. The 1520 was a superb phone. The UI was great, and the build of the phone was top. I'm so sad we no longer have Windows Phone, PalmOS/WebOS, or Blackberry. We have very little competition in the market, and it shows. Every year higher prices with less and less innovation due to the duopoly.

The Lumia 930 used to be my dream phone in 2016. Back then, I could only afford the Lumia 650, which was still really great at its price, but I spend hours every day watching reviews and stuff about the Lumia 930.

You did not even touch on the best parts of that OS. You could fire up Cortana (Siri for Windows) and say, "next time I talk with OSReviews, remind me to tell him I like his channel". Then the next time I send or receive a text, a call, or an email from/to you, it would pop up a reminder that said " remind me to tell him I like his channel". through Cortana, you could say, "next time I go by Walmart, remind me to get some batteries". And then every time you drove within 1/2 a mile of a Walmart, it would pop up a reminder on your phone. You could say "remind me to get flowers for my wife" and every time you went by any flower store, it would pop up a reminder. I travel for work and go to the same restaurants but never know when I might be there. At one, I told Cortana, "next time I come here, remind me to order the fish tacos". Eighteen months later when I was at that restaurant, my phone dings and the reminder says "order the fish tacos".
i use all black Nokia L930 as primary device from 2013 to 2019 after they stoped upgrading Facebook, Whatsapp and messenger, for me that was the end of the relationship with Windows phone, but still, it was one of the best and most beautiful phones around and I just loved that minimalistic design. It speaker and mic was perfection, display u said yourself, feeling in hands the same and camera was out of this world. When I changed it, I changed it with Huawei p40, and the only thing I didn't like after use it for almost full 7 years was Android experience, this metro icons, fluidity, quickness, typing was decade ahead from all mobile devices and till this day I miss Windows phone.
Still have this phone. Other than missing all the physical button pad, everything's fine. I updated it to the last windows 10 1709. and still works great in 2024. ^_^
I have still my Nokia 920/925 & 930. Miss using them. Battery time is not that good anymore, but they are some years old now:). If some importen apps have been function still, i have still using them. All of them was great devices. Fast OS & just have quad-core. They will just be a memories now :(. I still are a Nokia fan & use Nokia 7 plus now.
I would love to have a Windows OS on a phone. If I had a choice of Windows 12 mobile or Android I would pick Windows OS due to better battery management and clean OS.
Still have one of these in my drawer. If I could do mobile.banking on it I'd use this every day for sure. Unreal build quality, kept on on windows 8.1 on purpose. Best phone I've ever had.
It is great NOT to have mobile banking on your phone. A bit of friction between your wallet and all the shopping distractions of the world is a plus in my opinion.

Wasnt just apps, but MS lieng to their customers by promosing non existant updates and fixes, carrier locked updates, slow to release updates with simple basic UI features that both ios and android had. MS had at one point, created tool to allow android apps to be simply modified to work on windows phones, but like anything, was abandoned. Even MS software was prioritised on android and ios over its own os.
This is the best iPhone Apple never designed! It reeks iPhone 4, but the design team outperformed Apple in every way, it looks even nicer than anything Apple made since 2013. Some things I missed in this video: the original OS was Windows Phone 8.1, it has 4 high dynamic range microphones so it can record Dolby 5.1 surround sound with video (which was lost after the Windows 10 upgrade), and Nokia demonstrated this with concert recordings in their commercials. Also really amazing is how nice the screen is, even today. Nowadays most OLED panels are cropped to sRGB or P3 in software, with white subpixels, this is a wide-gamut true RGB pixel fest. The images were not downsampled to 16 megapixels, that is how the camera works. It has 20 megapixels, but you choose 16:9 aspect or 4:3. In 4:3 18 MP are used, in 16:9 you get 16MP output. These sensors were very unique, as both aspects have the full diagonal of the sensor! The effective sensor area has the shape of a cross. Today all sensors are 4:3 and if you shoot 16:9 you get a cropped image. Oh, and new phones don't have 1 inch sensors. They are named 1 inch, but 1 inch in sensor naming is actually 16mm diagonally. Not that it is better, because of the smaller size, the Lumias are all distortion free and tack sharp corner to corner. Most modern large-size sensors have serious corner fuzziness and aberation issues. The 930 and the later 950XL have about the best sensor/lens combinations for daylight architecture photograpy, as the sharpness is crazy and straight lines are perfectly straight.
My goal in life is to reach peace and comfort to the point where i dont ever need a smartphone again...just so that i can use a Lumia 930/925 with Windows Phone 8.1 as my only phone.
Windows phone OS was the best data efficient, smooth, refreshing and unique. I dont know why Microsoft didn't proceed well. But still now also if the support is there means i go for windows phone than android. As we dont have other option than android we are forced to buy android phones. IOS was never an option for the general public...
The Nokia windows phone was awesome. Ease of use and the graphics was amazing . Too bad Windows Stopped making that phone. There was a big market for it but they really messed up. I really missed the missed those Nokia windows phone. The windows os was very clean . I hated Windows for ending their cell phones . The surface is a piece of..never bought one .. tried it , hated it.

Beautiful phone. My last Windows Phone wasn't this nice, it was just an Alcatel Idol 4S, but the software was still great. I have a Surface Duo now, and honestly I hate it... I don't want to use Google Maps, and I feel like I have to keep fighting with everything because I don't want to move to Google services for everything... all my pictures are in OneDrive, all my passwords are in Edge, all my contacts are in Outlook, etc... and all these dumb apps keep trying to make me use Google for everything, and I don't want to use Google. Ugh. I can't even ask for help with my phone if I get stuck or confused on how to do something, because everyone will just try to force me back onto the default Google app for everything against my will if I let them touch my phone. I didn't buy a Surface Duo to use Google apps for everything. I like Bing Maps and OpenStreetMap, I never liked Google's garbage and I don't particularly want to start using it now. I feel like the end of Windows Phone has largely forced me back to doing everything on my PC, because I just can't be bothered to mess with Android, and keep giving up and pulling out my laptop out of frustration. Things just don't work on there like they do on the PC, I don't know why anyone ever thought Android and Windows was a good combination. Everything was nice and clean and easy to deal with when my phone and my PC were both running Windows 8/10. Now the only way to do anything on mobile or access the services I'm used to is through some half-baked Google OS that I don't really trust at all, and which doesn't really work for me or meet my needs at all.
Nokia is still relevant today because of the Lumia phones. Look at them right now with Android and you can just see how lame and out of touch they are with the brand and customers
Developers don't want to creat another app for this OS! Because Windows phone buyers are less than IOS and ANDROID! Why Windows phone users are less 🤔? Because, in the first place, these app developers don't want to put apps on it 😅. So why are developers complaining 🙄? What is the difference between the restrictions, on the IOS and Windows phone OS?

Turn on the transparency of the tiles on the home screen. My god, it's beautiful!! Especially with the dark or silver scheme!

I used Lumian 1520 until they shutted down the OS. Such an immaculate phone.

Suface Duo or Surface Duo 2 has the windows keyboards. They have recently been discontinued,but still supported because they're android phones.

amazon or do what I did. Exacto knife or paper cut an existing screen protector to tailor your phone. That's what I do to protect my windows phone.
