enjoy the season so far. I actually really enjoy the Jessica and Bill relationship that has come into play this season. Obviously, it has become a father/daughter relationship and the show definately needs this type of dynamic in the show.

@euphoniesvids You are right I had completely glossed over the "comeuppance" part that Petrarca mentioned and concentrating more on what Ball said. I think you are right that it was a poor choice of words. I think if someone were to ask either Petrarca or Ball point blank if they felt Jason deserved it they would both say no. And in the 4th episode Jason very clearly states he's being raped, so I don't think the issue is being danced around, but yes comeuppance was a poor word to use.

Someone mentioned claudines significance. Remember, in the book lafayette isnt a major role--nor tara. So im sure character adjustments had to be made for the season.

@starlitwisher Yeah I hated that storyline with Tara last season too. :( Makes me sad her character is always reduced to being abused. I agree with you about tv reflecting society too. My biggest beef is with how the writers are treating the topic. It's one thing to write about it and shine a light on the despicable nature of rape and rapists it's quite another for the writers to joke openly that it's something the character had coming.
@JANOH89 I think that's in the book :) Because in the serie, Sookie just cut Debbie's lips and then threat her to shoot her, so she ran away, and we never see her again in season 3 :)

@magilojoh the director himself say at 1:02 says "he kinda get's his comeuppance here" ---- So, I direct you to the dictionary:
come·up·pance -noun Informal .
deserved reward or just desserts, usually unpleasant: He finally got his comeuppance for his misbehavior.
The only way I can interpret that is they are saying he deserves what is happening to him. I get the tragic story they're trying to do, but it's a VERY poor choice of words & can give people the wrong idea about their intentions.

No matter if Eric became a nerd, human, vampire, viking etc. he would still be freaking hot! And as Alan Ball said; "He such a great actor" I can only agree on that. Sweden does proceed good actors. Alexander Skarsgård for the win!
I really hope they don't play it off as a big plan of Eric's, but seeing how many other things they changed from the books they might.
@magilojoh Sorry for the snarky reply earlier, this is such a hot button issue for me. After I saw the episode I came here to watch the video and see what the writers had to say about the episode and I was just taken aback at the director saying it was comeuppance and then Alan Ball so deliberately avoiding the word rape and then even chuckling about it. None of it set with me right.

Loving the season so far, this was my least favorite episode. I'm currently reviewing each episode each week. I just uploaded my review of this episode. It's been fun discussing this show as we go along.
@euphoniesvids No sweat about the comment. Mine looked kinda snarky too & sorry to you for that-typing doesn't come out like you hear it in your head. I can see where ppl get upset over how they spoke of this. I tend to look at it like when I worked at a DV org. and then a social service place-we had horrid, tacky senses of humor-we'd laugh at stuff that we would have cringed if clients saw us, becuz it wasn't how we felt about their lives-it was just a way for us to deal with the work

I am more than a little confused by Bill's behavior this season.
@euphoniesvids also knowing nothing about filming or such- it seems like from their standpoint they see a different reality than I do. To me the blood looks gross & the makeup & what not looks real + what happens looks like it could be real - that is how they want it to look. But I think from their view they know how it is all accomplished & what is really happening so they tend to see humor in stuff that we don't necessarily, as we are not privy to the inner workings of the production.
@deftpony18 Oh no, I disagree. I would call episode 1 sensational and maybe even episode 2, but not this one. But everyone has their own opinions and if you really liked it that's great. I wish I did.

@euphoniesvids and others-Rape is being subjected to sex against your will. Ball wasn't trying to skirt the issue or at a loss for words-he was only saying- not that Jason was a slut (those R words used here, not his words) but that he got his sense of self from his sexual prowess. The were-panthers R trying to use that to further their species, but it is against Jason's will. It isn't a punishment for anything Jason has done, but it is taking advantage of how he is to move the story along.

@Beardie22 Rape is a serious, real world issue. I'm not capable of relaxing about it. I was not bothered that they used it in the show, I was bothered that AB didn't call it like it is and seemed to be brushing over it and as euphoniesvids pointed out above, I didn't like that he referred to it as jason, "getting his cumupence" as if this was punishment he deserved. No one deserves to be raped ever. I don't think art should reflect such a cavalier attitude. Sorry if my opinion bothers you.
@igotaidsinnarnia I personally don't care for where Jason's story has gone. The rape really bothers me.
@FantageFan13 Well, I go into more detail in my video but there just wasn't anything really exciting going on in this episode. Sure there were little things, but nothing major. The only thing that stood out was Jason being raped and I didn't care for that at all. That really cast a negative shadow over everything, especially since there was nothing to counter balance it. It's only one ep. I still have high hopes.

Note to writers: You make me sick. Jason was RAPED. Multiple times. RAPED. Not "sort of used against his will" as “comeuppance” for sleeping around. Since when does sleeping with multiple consenting partners deserve that kind of punishment? WTF?? And for those who might think otherwise... no it wasn't in the book. This is all the show writers idea.

@kkatydee Hon, please RE-READ my comment. I understand fiction. What I have a problem with is writing a completely unnecessary storyline w/ the only reason listed for throwing it in is to punish Jason for being a man who has slept around. This is a horrible idea to be putting out. It reinforces slut shaming and victim blaming in our society. They could've made up ANY other reason to write a rape story. But punishment? No. Not ok. Ever. P.S. I HAVE stopped watching and I DO help rape victims.

@euphoniesvids It's acting... He didn't actually get raped. This is a tv show... About vampires. There is no "based on a true story" shit. The tv show is based on thhe novels. They won't recreate it 100%. and the rape goes deeper than just sex. It's about someone who has his strongest asset turned against him.
I suggest that you stop watching the show if it makes you sick and go help real rape victims..

Urgh. Bill needs to move to another city and another show. Dirtbag. Eric is SO much hotter. Jessica's a cutie. Of course, Alcide is a hot too. I wonder how many babies Jason's going to end up with? I think they could have done it some other way (minus rape). Tara seems much stronger this time around. I wish her and Sam would just get together and stay that way. I'm not liking Jesus with Lafayette, though - he's too pushy and overbearing with the witch stuff.
