hi Ryan
Cool merch but I don't buy stuff thats just ripped-off from copyrighted material.
"Matt Singer" ... NOPED right out of here. Sorry, Ryan.
Its not cancelled they only fired the writers!
I'm sure they got feedback on his walk of shame in she hulk. And the daredevil tv show was probably one big walk of shame.
I still stan Moon Knight. I saw it more as a character study that felt different to anything we've seen in the MCU.
Totally agreed. Moon Knight (as it stands) helps to counteract some of the complaints being levied against Marvel content of late- it's not a pre-requisite for anything else and it's an above average story that stands on its own. In six episodes they did an excellent job of introducing at least 4-5 characters and making you care about them and their motivations all while giving a solid crash course in Egyptian mythology. The character development is top notch, the dialogue is solid, and the story is driven by more than McGuffins.
I feel as though the unstated issue that people take with Moon Knight is the thematic world it takes place in; Egyptian mythology isn't as familiar and accessible to the average western audience member as Norse mythology.
Okay but its not "cancelled"... 🤦
Clickbait alert ⚠️
Not cancelled, reworked for the ground up
Let him make his money, bruh. Don’t become the Uncle Tom of the nerd culture 😀
It’s almost like there’s already a dedicated audience that doesn’t appreciate these antics.
@@laverdadescatolica5 dawg I still watched the video. nobody likes being mislead
I hope postponing Daredevil means they’ll really hone in on the dark tone and material that made the Netflix series so good. The yellow suit made it seem like it was going to be too lighthearted. Glad they’re pumping the breaks on it.
I still feel the problem with secret invasion was dropping the friendship theme by killing talos. Yes episodes 5 and 6.. ugh. The emotional legs were pulled out and they didn't even let fury grieve. He became inhuman by leaving talos in the street without a thought afterwards, except to tell G'iah to move on.. geez. 30 years of friendship...
That and having Fury & Rhodes have a poignant conversation about race but then we find out Rhodey was a Skrull at the time which negates the entire effin conversation as fake.
Killing Talos was such a waste of what you say that friendship was so important and the actor was top tier I thought, and you’d think killing such a big character should have had huge stakes but it didn’t
@@deeobrien5417 definitely. Imagine if Fury and Talos teamed up in the end to outsmart a more physically powerful Gravik. They could have kept up some of their banter along the way..etc. gravik could have delivered his speech(which was riveting and well acted) to Fury, rather than Giah..etc.. all of the Marvel shows have had important themes at their core and this one seemed to be friendship, but then forgot about it.
Maria hill…
@jonathanstafford3383 Maria's death was wasted as well. She's been in the MCU for 10 years and although shocking, I thought at least they'll use it to motivate Fury further.. but we didn't seem him mourn her either. With Maria gone, the death of Talos bothered me even more!
Not a huge fan of this clickbait.
I definitely want a season three of Loki. Without question. I really want to see a second season of Moon Knight as well. Isaac was amazing and the show is quite good compared to She Hulk, Ms. Marvel, and though it pains me to disappointed in anything Samuel L. Jackson is in, Secret Invasion.
I liked when Moinknight would fall asleep and wake up and the story would move on to another thing.
i loved hawkeye tho
@@Liwaaaah I enjoyed Hawkeye too. It’s required Christmas watching in our TARDIS now. Haha.
@@RashaadGenie I loved that feature too. It was a frenetic pacing to make you feel as disoriented as Marc/Stephen.
Hot take: Ms. Marvel was better than Moon Knight
to be fair, in the original Netflix series, Matt was out and about doing his Vigilante thing, but not in the suit. he was the blindfolded man in black, right? the suit had its own origin storyline, and the writers built anticipation (well, at least, my anticipation) so when he finally transformed into the Devil of Hell's Kitchen, it was a F-Yeah! moment. its all in the execution and Netflix killed it.
I’d be curious to know how people would have reacted to that kind of report from the Netflix show. I suspect it would have been a lot of jumping to conclusions like they are here. Daredevil season one was top tier with or without a costume.
not to mention how Matt doesn’t even don the suit for much of season 3 (or maybe it was all, I forgot). it’s Bullseye who does. so yeah, the costume appears, but not on the main character.
It’s not canceled it’s gonna be rewritten because Kevin didn’t like how it was before so he plans to make it better. However wonder man and vision quest are axed so yeah hope that’s clear enough
yeah but that doesn't get views and clicks.
@@alexhill2495 you mean like the channel that shows fake trailers?
@@0mtrebellcyury993no that’s screen crush 😀
@@laverdadescatolica5I think you mean screen culture that’s the one I’m talking about. It’s the channel that shows fake and misleading trailers
@@alexhill2495true true cause shit I clicked 😂
I think some properties would benefit from the episodic structure of tv/streaming.
You can do side quests while maintaining a core story.
I think original Daredevil was like that
It was exactly like that which is why I think they knew the public wasn’t gonna like it and he’s a fan favorite. We were gonna shit on it and considering the tv shows aren’t doing so good they couldn’t handle another show going to shit especially that character since Netflix made a masterpiece of a show. They’re gonna try to replicate the original show that’s on Netflix so he could appear in suit within episodes and have side missions with small time villains like the Netflix show cuz that’s part of his character in general. SMH on the people they had hired before, she hulk also was awful
But we have had that with recent shows and yet people still bitch that it doesn't feel connected to the mcu enough.
@@WeirdEdz not really the story is either not integral or it rolls around everywhere or the story gets repetitive cuz it’s a cut up movie
Daredevil was a little different, though. It was one of the first Marvel shows to take advantage of the streaming format and have the episodes blend in more. One of the coolest things was Daredevil getting jacked up in a fight and you still see him dealing with cuts and injuries in the next episode, etc.
I'm willing to wait for Daredevil Born Again, hopefully it means that Deborah Ann Wool and Elden Henson can reprise their roles because I was so upset when it was announced that wouldn't the first time. I think the WAG-SAG strikes has proven themselves to be a necessary evil in that regard.
Especially after thay video where Deborah got emotional talking about hoping they give her a call because she's available. Heart breaking. Never wanted an actress to stay on a project more lol.
I LOVED Hawkeye, maybe because I enjoyed how closely they followed the particular comic book run they were based upon, and how WONDERFUL the casting of Hailee Steinfeld as Kate Bishop/new Young Avengers Hawkeye. Plus, of course, more Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova...
Came here to say the exact same thing 🤙🏼
I really enjoyed Hawkeye. Hailee/Kate Bishop is a character I want to see more of now.
You mean Kate Bishop and friends… nothing about that show was about Hawkeye, like most of their shows.
@@BrandonGavin_EDC I know what you’re trying to say, but I disagree as they covered his family, one of the main plot points was about a MaGuffin involving Laura (and her past as an agent) and it was about Clint retiring and passing the mantle. I get you’re stomping your foot about it being about Kate but the whole idea of both the graphic novel it was loosely based on and the show they made was about Clint passing the mantle. Be mad at the (old) source material- not the show.
@@BrandonGavin_EDC She IS Hawkeye, if you would pay attention. They're setting her up for Young Avengers, giving Renner a fun little swansong performance before letting his aging character go, which was especially nice given the accident he suffered from last winter. And he was in every episode, unlike Book of Boba Fett (not that we complained because it was Mando). Did you even read the Fraction/Aja graphic novel?
Im glad marvel studios is listening to its fans! This should hopefully help the flow of the MCU ,and give us the connection we all love ,and want!
That's why theyre casting a woman to play Silver Surfer...
yup@@OddoOtter
They literally need to make it like seasons 1-3 of the Netflix show. Hopefully, them starting over means that's the plan. Daredevil is a damn masterpiece.
They really should have gotten Netflix to keep going with it and make season 4.
I don't think anyone wants a new/different daredevil than the Netflix one
The Netflix one is about as close as perfect as you could get for a daredevil show
No. They should continue the NETFLIX stuff with SEASON 4.
“Canceled” means its not coming out. Nice click-bait video title.
I don't think I'll ever get over the way Marvel dissed the best show they ever put on TV: Agents of SHIELD. In its first season it was joined at the hip with the MCU, and particularly Winter Soldier. And it's not canon? That's a bit shameful, if you ask me.
Ita canon in our hearts
If the MCU is the Bible, then AoS is the Book of Enoch. They say its not canon, buuuutttt.....
Honestly, it and the other pre-D+ shows (Netflix Marvel, Runaways, etc) are the reason I'm not so enthusiastic about Marvel TV. We were told that they were all part of the canon initially. And it wouldn't take much for them to be canon. They were all mostly low level stuff that didn't connect or the shows bent over backwards to tie in to the plot of the films. (The video's mention of the tie in between Agents of Shield and Captain America: The Winter Soldier is a prime example.)
If I get into a property and am told it's part of a larger canon, I'm going to take time to follow as much of the canon as I can. When they later say, "on second thought, that doesn't matter to it all...", I'm going to get pissed.
Disney should make a Marvel Spotlight show where it can focus on individual characters for 1 or 2 quality episodes each. If they get good feedback, then maybe greenlight a series for those characters
That is a tremendous idea
❤
I’d definitely like to see Wonderman go this route. It should focus on the real issues of mental health crisis not fake-as-shit multiple personalities (although that has its place too)
Actually yeah that’s a very good idea. Even if they don’t get a series or movie they still could appear whenever as cameo since they already got introduced.
Like a kind of anthology? Cool
What I want to know is how, in the middle of all this, Werewolf-by-Night--less than one hour long--was so fucking good! There were multiple important characters introduced and yet it had a very engaging story that made me looking forward to Midnight Sons SO... DAMN... MUCH.
Not cancelled, taken back to start again and keep some old footage
I admit I binge the shows for the very reasons you mention. It needs to be viewed as a movie and not a series. There is rarely anything self contained. The best thing they can do is make the series separate from the MCU. They can be in the same universe, but not everything needs to cross back and forth with each other.
Don’t be misleading by saying cancelled. Just say “remade from scratch”
Agreed there’s no need for the click bait you’re better than that
i think your theories are pretty close about why these shows suffer. I do agree, some shows like Hawkeye, Falcon and Winter Soldier, and even Ms Marvel could have been condensed into 2 hour films and gotten the same story across in a much better pacing and more enjoyable ride. WandaVision and Loki so far seem to be the only series designed in mind to being a series. Each episode felt like it was part of a whole story but also its own thing, which is what good serialized television does. But one thing you didnt touch upon which I think needs to be brought up more, is that WandaVision and Loki also felt like comic book shows. They weren't meta commentaries, they weren't quirky legal comedies, they weren't spy thrillers, they did have elements of that kind of storytelling within them (Obviously WandaVision was a meditation on Grief and Loki was about self acceptance) but the Comic Book aspect came first and foremost in both of those shows. The other shows were given too much freedom to try to be something else, and this divides the fans, cuz if they wanted to see a spy thriller, why not go watch the newest James Bond instead, or if they wanted an action packed revenge story, you've got Jack Reacher and John Wick which had much better production values. There are hundreds of legal dramedies on streaming, so what if the lawyer can turn into she hulk, if shes not smashing big bads, then theres better shows out there that tell similar and more relatable stories (i dont know anyone who struggles with turning into a green rage monster but i do know plenty of women who feel oppressed in the male dominated legal system, and shows like The Good Fight and Suits do a way better job representing that)
Overall, you tune into a marvel disney plus show because you want to see something that adds to the MCU itself, so it must be comic book oriented first. It can have deeper storytelling, but the overall narrative must provide something that is of consequence to the universe and its overall plotline. Or it becomes disposable.
I couldnt finish what you are saying because it didn't make any sense. I had to input that you are arguing that they should take away the spy thriller or legal comedy.... But taking those away is taking away the core of the characters you speak of. Which actually negates everything u said about them needing to be like comic book. You are literally saying delete a character and their history just because a similar plot exists in a different show or movie???? Why would i want to watch suits??? Tf? She hulks character is being a lawyer and a hulk. Both of which were introduced and wouldnt make sense if u strip the lawyer aspect. We would just have another hulk with no story.
maybe you should have read what i said before commenting because you clearly didn't get it.
1. i didnt say take away anything from the character. not once.
2. i didnt say it couldnt be a spy thriller, I said it should be a comic book show first, that the spy thriller and legal drama and so forth should come second.
3. i apparently triggered you in some way because youre half a step off from starting a full on fan rant about how she-hulk was the greatest thing wsince sliced bread when I didn't even comment on the quality of the series, just used it as an example of why the ratings declined because it didn't add anything to the MCU, like at all.
4. maybe when you reply to someone, instead of trying to talk down to them, people could have a real discussion without wanting to punch you. I guarantee you, that you are probably near the bottom of the list of the smartest people, just in this comment section alone, so take it down a notch.
@@WeirdEdz
The two shows with the biggest and most obvious problems were 'Falcon and Winter Soldier' and 'Secret Invasion'.
Hopefully this results in these shows getting individual episode scripts and hour long episodes.
She-Hulk: Hold my beer!
@@RandomNPC001she hulk was good, the CGI was just funky
@@karlitatv Horrible show, critics hated as well, the numbers were in the bottom because no one watched. FYI the people (writers) that were fired were mostly from the She-Hulk team, because they wanted to kill off Matt Murdock and replace him with a woman (because that’s how predictable these writers are) resulting in Daredevil being “Born again”.
Got so excited when I saw Whitney!
I think that the MCU tv shows should function more like how the Netflix shows did. More episodes, multiple seasons, same universe but mostly disconnected from the films, lower budgets, etc.
Because it’s too much of an ask to expect your audience to watch multiple tv shows to keep up to date with your cinematic universe, people will quickly drop off.
Also they need longer shows to incentivise people to keep subscribed to D+ service week to week.
Only major thing I’d change from Netflix approach is to mostly keep it family friendly, and for the shows to build to event films instead of a team up show like The Defenders.
Think the video title is rather misleading and worrisome for fans who are likely aware of what’s going on with the creative overhaul
It will be ok 😊
I think, Hawkeye was very episodic. Every episode covered one day. I watched it last year in the 6 days before Christmas, and every episode was happening on this day before Christmas. Like an advent calendar. I loved it!
Also, Moon Knight was different in every episode. One episode was in the Alps, another one was in a pyramid, and one was in the netherworld... I don't get your argument that these episodes were all the same.
The same events, just at different locations, a la star wars.
i absolutely loved moon knight and i still rewatch it every so often, but i kinda get what they were saying about that. i didn't pick up on it myself even after so many rewatches, but boiling the show down to its essence really is "go here to find this so you can go here to find another thing" which isn't very episodic in its story telling. im so used to that from video games that i absolutely didn't clock it lmao
BACK TO FORMULA!
Good video. Thanks for postin’! Cheers from H-Town!
I 100% agree with what Ryan said about binging streaming shows (on Disney) and honestly other platforms because I shouldn't have to wait a week for something that was designed to be one long episode. Also why are we waiting a week to watch streaming shows? This is not cable. Streaming shows can give the convenience of watching everything at once. This formula does not work.
Whitneyy!!!!! Get it girl..
.lol I'm a stop but it is good to see you post NR and hope to see you more over here with Ryan...always love your take always put a cool spin on things and always make me happy!!!😎🖤💚👽
Ahh this takes me back to when all the good shows were on Netflix, then the companies pulled them for their own platforms, then their platforms failed so they merged them with other platforms, and when they realised people only want to pay for one streaming service they finally put all the shows we love back on Netflix.
Well, almost.
6:35 I’d bet folding money that the reason the hospital scenes in Secret Invasion when President Ritson was being rolled in were so empty looking is because the original plan was to insert AI background extras in post. Just scan ‘em, send ‘em home and never have to worry about a background actor spoiling details afterwards. It’s not right, but I can see why Marvel/Disney execs would be all for it.
Such a misleading title, it's not cancelled.
It’s like that screen culture channel that’s shows misleading fake trailers
Ryan literally liked every single episode of every single series of Marvel-D+, and now he is singing a different tune.
He is like going with the flow, he rarely ever criticized the quality of any show including the worst of all-She Hulk- and now all of a sudden Disney realized their crappy content, and Ryan all of a sudden has a retrospective epiphany😂
I like Ryan. But fair point, he is always a go with the flow type of a guy. 😂
No, really, he was critical of Secret Invasion all during the show. He just wasn't cruel with his criticism.
I don't know how you can remain so positive while watching this shitshow
Love your videos
Hawkeye was not terrible. I think I would give Ms Marvel & Hawkeye a season 2.
In Hawkeye S2, Kate & Kamala meet & discuss the young heroes and where they can find one of them (America Chavez) right before her next appearance (a special presentation or Strange Academy) and Kate can talk to her in New York.
Ms Marvel S2 can have a project or 2 between it’s release and Chavez project before, and have Kamala find Speed & Wiccan in New Jersey after Darkhold Diaries came out.
Oh, Hawkeye was so damn good. Not the least bit bad
@@joshDammmitActually, Hawkeye series is definitely being the 3rd best following Loki Season 1 & Wandavision.
I want a She Hulk season 2 really badly.
I think the first season could have been a bit better but thats because of the situation the writers were in. Give us more of that Green Lawyer who can deligate and deli-crack some skulls
I don't know about other people but I use to watch as much episode breakdowns, from different channels after watching an episode, and I feel like it kinda ruined my experience for the next episode, some raised expectations so much, with the comicbook storylines, plot direction theories some are so great that when I finish the whole season I feel letdown, now I'd just watch the finale breakdown later after the season's over.
I agree about Iron Heart. Wakanda Forever had some of the Iron Man 2 and Age of Ultron issue of trying to do WAY too much, and now that we’re waiting 2 years for the show, it’s like…what was all of it for?
I think a big part of the view count between Loki season 1 and 2 getting such different views, is COVID. I've seen alot of channels talk about having FAR less views now compared to 2-4 years ago. A massive part of that is, at that time, alot of people were stuck at home, and started watching alot of stuff they wouldn't normally watch day-to-day, and have now switched back to watching just what they really have time for.
you are so much better than click bait titles like this,... love your content but this kind of tabloid sensationalism will totally put me off your channel
I feel like an Oddball for not disliking Secret Invasion, but I can't deny that I was more enthusiastic for other projects, so I'm liking the direction they are going now and can't wait to see the result.
Your last few comments reminded me of the successful structure of the Star Wars books (now referred to as "legends"). Each book and author had its own story, but there was a person in charge of keeping a cohesive continuity overall
No no there was no cohesion at all that's why they threw it out....says ever new disney wars fan everywhere....
This is a GREAT thing. Put TV people in charge of TV. What a concept
Whitney!!!!!!
To be fair I feel like Disney losing cash left and right is probably more to blame than anything. I keep seeing all this stuff about how bad every thing there putting out is doing from Indy to probably some of the best starwars they've done since they bought George out and nothing is working for bringing in cash.
You gotta spend money to make money, they’re still one of the most successful movie studios of all time, if not the single greatest.
Of all shows that was specifically made for TV… WandaVision could only work at a TV show. I have no idea why anyone would have thought otherwise. It was a legit nod to TV and the generations of the “normal family” depicted in our favorite shows growing up.
Great video. I get the point of not paying much attention to the negative aspects for Easter egg videos, but I do feel like this channel hasn't been NEARLY as critical as marvel deserves until this video. 👏👏👏
They should have a series called “amazing Fantasy” and each week they have pilot episodes or at the most a three episode arc for new characters. This way, if the audience responds, they can give us a full series. If not, they can either use those characters as supporting characters in other stuff or scrap them altogether. Also, great to see Whitney! I sooo miss her Rick and Morty breakdowns on NR
They are definitely tiptoeing around She-Hulk.
It’s okay to say She-Hulk was bad, too.
It is easily one of the worst projects that has been released in the MCU.
It showed that the Marvel cannot keep up on what the Netflix done to Daredevil during their time > Quality show
A lot of the reported problems about Born Again sound like the exact problems the writers were striking to prevent.
A lot of the things Marvel/Disney "decided to do" was what the writers accomplished by striking.
not canceled, lame clickbait
There's a quote from Nate Moore that I just read recently. It was said last year so I may just have missed it and this won't be news to anyone else but it was so bizarre. He said when he's looking for writers he thinks that if someone is a lifelong fan of the comics that's a red flag for him. Sure, makes perfect sense. When writing a comic book movie why would you want someone who knew the work they're adapting? That blew my mind.
in light of this welcomed reboot, I hope they can bring back the former Netflix cast members like Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Paige and Elden Henson as Foggy Nelson. Would be so nice to get the 'band back together' into the Disney tent.
Are you still enthusiastic for Marvel?
They could do it similar to Netflix where the different characters shows culminated into the defenders series. They could move towards the shows being street level/defenders and the movies being worldwide/cosmic/avengers level and spiderman being the link between.
The irony of letting Jules explain how pilots work is the best and most tasty irony, because when he became leader of Shield, he did exactly the opposite of what he described...and yes it is Canon that Jules was an alias of Nick Fury when he was a regular agent. I'll die on that hill.
Wow Ryan mentioning Matt’s book at the end when he didn’t bring it up shows a lot. Much respect I wish I could subscribe twice
Werewolf by Night deserved more love instead of being sidelined from mediocre shows
THANKS for this!!! Of course scrapping and re-shaping is a good thing!!!! But I read the MCU book and I know what you said is right--that's Marvel's approach is fraught with peril :) And YAY to the Guardians (I subscribed)!!!
Millions of years ago, when dinosaurs roamed the Earth, we had TV miniseries; two or three episodes of 80-odd minutes each (plus ads). Maybe Marvel needs to try that model with some of its Disney+ shows.
So I’ve been watching all of theses videos for a while. Really great content and I absolutely love the discussions. On this particular episode, I felt a lot of biased opinions on what shows were good and bad. I also feel like as I’m posting this, my opinion will be knocked. So here it goes!
Netflix shows were actually made for adults and were great! At the beginning of all the shows that Disney put out (WV, Cap&WS, Loki) are shows that had a direct connection to specific movies) The newer shows that dropped are from scratch, only difference being “secret invasion”. It’s the only show that has not had a direct connection to the avengers. We didn’t know about Skrulls or Kree until Captain Marvel. A film that I felt was solely thrown to us because we wanted Thanos so bad. I think Marvel dropped the ball on that particular movie because of how it was put together. Nick had no dealings in Avengers Infinity War & Endgame. Not yo mention Ultron. So it was up to secret invasion to illustrate the skrulls. Maybe that show needed more episodes but I didn’t think SI was that bad of a show.
9:21 Whitneys streamin room and green screen are so bright you can see it reflecting of Matts glasses😮
Didn't the Netflix Daredevil show not have the red Daredevil costume till the last episode of the first season?
The WandaVision vs. Secret Invasion "can't feel you / gimme your gun god damnit" .... literally the best illustrative juxtaposition ever.
The Falcon&Winter Soldier show had a subplot that was cut last second, maybe about a pandemic, and the result was a product disconnected from itself.
I agree 100 percent and with that they need to have their trailers for those projects to be on point too
I've yet to read the article. But my personal feeling as a viewer isn't that these shows felt cut up. More like they'd been told to include a couple of action sequences and plot points, but didn't seem to have a clue what to do with the in-betweens.
I also think it's worth remembering that WandaVision and Loki were projects created in time to for the Disney+ launch. But then, as they were released, COVID hit and suddenly the whole business plan shifted to "just get as many shows out as possible!" Xxx
26:52 until you realize the first three eps. were all Fisk running for mayor. 😮
Speaking of Werewolf by Night, Iger did say something about more "Special Presentations" and yet...there's been nothing on the horizon there at all. I mean, effectively Echo has turned into one given the single-day binge release. But nothing else...and even for secondary / recently introduced characters where a full film might not be a good thing (e.g., Styles's Eros) a 1 hour special might be something.
But there's been no announcements of anything (and this was even before the strikes). I wonder if the added cost of streaming residuals won by the writers and expected to be won by the actors is going to pinch the Special Presentations out.
Marvel should limit their Disney + properties to one-shots, animation and street -level heroes who aren’t quite ready for their on movies
Yes! Agents of SHIELD love! Their coordination with the movies before they got cut loose WAS spectacular. Also, first mention of the Darkhold! And please, someone, bring back Gabriel Luna’s Robby Reyes Ghost Rider. And Clark Gregg…again 😂
Great panel! Awesome to see Whitney again too! Many thanks for the video!
She's over at @WhitneyVision too!
Another point about TV in general, not just Marvel...I think a lot of people want to get back to episodic TV. Star Trek is a perfect example of this. I like all the shows, but to have to sit through an entire season to get to a point (Picard, Discovery) vs a nice story neatly tied up in 45-60 minutes is starting to grate on people. Then Strange New Worlds came along and it felt SO refreshing. And of course Lower Decks can't help but be episodic which only adds to the fun.
No the F we dont!!!!!!!! Episodic story format is so garbage for dramas, it only works for sitcoms and anthologies. When it comes to normal dramas, the episodic format is not engaging at all. When people talk about the MCU tv structure not being made like normal tv shows, they arent talking about precedural episodic crap, they are talking about how the structure feels more like a long movie cut up into peices instead of how Netflix Daredevil did it. People are saying they want more mcu shows structured like Netflix Daredevil instead of secret invasion. And for the last time, STOP bringing up episodic storytelling like its something pwople want. nobody who actually cares about high quality television wants that crap. Episodic TV will never be as good as a high quality serialized show on HBO so just stop. The MCU going episodic would be a total step down and people would get bored quick without a proper ark throughout the season. AGENTS OF SHIELD only stopped being garbage once they abandoned that crappy episodic format they had in the first half of season 1.
To be fair, if my memory is correct, the Netflix Daredevil series didn't have him in the actual costume until late in the 1st season, I want to say the last episode, but I could be wrong about that part.
You're not wrong.
I remember that the Netflix Daredevil custom didn’t even appear until the last episode of season one… or does a skullcap pulled over the heroes eyes count as a costume? Or maybe it was just tshirt pulled over matts head. But that season had grit and suspense.
It's awesome hearing the word shit on your channel so many times in one video😂. Love you screen crush
Disney+ lost me when they doubled their price in a few years time & started to charge $140 a year for 1 new show a month. Absolutely mind boggling!
Tons of shows that could be awesome, Ghost Rider, Midnight Sons, Strange Academy, Young Avengers/ Champions: The Childre Crusade, Defenders, Agents Of Atlas; Secret Warriors, New Warriors, World War Hulk, Wolverine, etc
IDK about everyone else, but the TY ad changes have hit me hard, so I've been watching far fewer videos, yours included. I feel like that timeline lines up some with your Loki videos
Trust is earned slowly but lost quickly. It is even harder and sometime impossible to earn back trust after a betrayal. Only years and years of the highest quality content will bring back fans who feel like we have been burned by Disney Marvel.
The fact that they thought the past releases were good enough to put out shows just how confident they thought they were
im so happy to hear this... if it's not right... start again. That's the way shit used to be.
Falcon and Winter Soldier was the beginning of the end for me, but still pleasantly shocked at how great Werewolf By Night was, that’s the direction Disney needs to go in.
I would like to see something like "Agents of sheild" but only 2 to 4 episodes before a movie explaining some of the back story and characters, and after so, any loose ends can be tied up in a nice bow.
Excuse me WHAT
Ok now watched a bit and I’m here for it. Thought you were saying it was just gone for good, but stepping back and going over things sounds pretty good.
Clickbait.
@@MrSailmakersnot really. The version they were making is definitely canceled. ReMaking it from the start is making something entirely new.
My point still stands. Its clickbait period. Otherwise you are a fool. The show is not cancelled unlike what the channel claims and your bad excuse for a defense doesn't change that.@@HumanB312
Here a wild idea just get the writers, and directors who worked on the three season of daredevil!!!
The great thing about Agents of Shield was that it was built around one of the more minor characters from the MCU, and while it referenced events from the movies, placing it in that world, the movies didn't return the acknowledgement. That meant you could enjoy the movies without seeing a single episode of the TV show. It's great for added colour and understanding for real fans, but without excluding the more casual viewer.
There could be a really easy demarcation as well, save the world altering for the movies and let TV focus on more low key villainy Movies are big and bombastic and is the right place for big stories, but TV is closer, more intimate and seems a much better fit for a story like Jessica Jones.
Also maybe lean more into practical FX. Not sure whether other fans would agree, but I have a lot more time for something that looks lame but is clearly crafted with love and attention than the final reel CGI sky beam school of resolving stories
I’m overjoyed U have marvel’s issues so clearly laid out, clarity will always B necessary in this world 🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌
As a fan, I want the ‘Grand Strategy’ to flow thru both TV and films. In general I’m okay with films being the ‘must see’ and TV shows the deep cuts. OTOH, I wouldn’t trade Loki for ANY movie. More Loki is like more pumpkin spice in early Oct. Dive in!
But ‘fix it in post’ is a horrible idea.
So my ‘if I were king for a day’:
1) A creative committee with Feige as lead but add in some of the big directors to help provide deep themes and character development
2) Each show season written, fully, before filming. If they are going with pilots, after a show is ready for pickup, order full production class scripts with budgets so they don’t take shortcuts at the end.
3) There must be continuity from one property to the next.
Finally, I did not hate Secret Invasion as much as Ryan & friends. There are parts I loathed, but I did not feel it was a complete waste. Externals, OTOH, still feels very ‘left field’ to me. And I LIKED She-Hulk (not the shortcuts but the character and basic plot).
Bottom line: yes more TV. Yes, slow down and have well thought out series for a full season before filming. We do need a clean handoff from original Avengers to whoever we have now. And finally, keep those post credit scenes coming.
The comics are built around a six issue story, that is designed for a trade, same as tv. I think the shows could be built up to a movie, or several shows into a movie. But it has to be designed that way. To many show runners? Maybe one show runner and several asst show runners. Maybe the movie is the annual of the movies. I think they over extended themselves. Which could have been fixed with hiring more people for special effects and making sure everything is tight.
Another part of the problem, I think, is that most of the new shows weren't really about the idea or concept, but just "we need to introduce 'x' in this show, and that will lead us to 'y'". Which really do make the movies and shows "homework" so you understand what happens 5-6 shows/movies down the line. Stand alone stories seem really uninteresting to Marvel Studios right now.
Would be cool to see something like Phase 2, where there are underlying threads in each product that tell and overarching narrative.
The thing is that, very few times any of these projects or movies feel like comic books. Compared to comics, they are soap operas.
To a certain degree, not sure what people are complaining about. Once TV in general has moved over away from the story of the week, to the big story arc of the season, they effectively all became movies chopped up. All the Netflix Marvel shows were tragically movies chopped up! So, is it just now people are realizing this or what?
My personal opinion, along with the restructuring of getting actual show runners and traditional tv executives using the tried and true show bibles and green light pilots, I think they should give pitches to the special presentations project which are about an hour (Ala Werewolf by Night and GOTG Christmas)
Think how better Hawkeye or Secret Invasion would be if it was a trim short movie style that could budget better and relay on the already overworked VFX teams.
Less “movie” series, more “special presentations”
16:39 I’m just now how blood shot Ryan’s eyes are and how he keeps blinking weird. Is he always like this?
Ryan I would love to hear your thoughts on the Disney + price hike. They just hiked prices approx. 75%. Ridiculous and given the terrible direction of the MCU I'm cancelling. I'll wait until I have a backlog on the Star Wars series, do a one month subscription and binge watch. Always enjoyed your content, hope this price hike doesn't cut into your viewership.
Why don't you join us scallywags and sail the seas?
