Hi Todd, Greetings from Australia. I have recently purchased the 69' Triumph that used to belong to my father and I intend to rebuild/restore it. He was an exceptional mechanic - I am not. However, after watching the series you have put together, I feel that I am able to do this. Thank you very much for taking the time to put together such a valuable resource and rest assured, all my parts will be ordered through LowBrow as a show of appreciation and support. Thank you once again.

Just stumbled upon this series and as a young bloke renovating an old tart of a 1972 T120R this is pure gold! I just gobbled up all the available clips in one sitting. I've been watching Lunmad and although his videos are informative there's some cutting corners and since it's 480p it's not always as easy to see what's going on so your updated input is brilliant. I haven't been buying parts from Lowbrow due to shipping and customs, but I might just get a few spares just to support this awesome work! Keep it up Todd and gang!

    Todd,
I have all my bearings in the cases using help from your #7 assembly video. Your #8 video just came out on you tube. Prefect timing. I’m ready to put the cases together for my 78 T140 project.
You have been a great help and guidance.
    Thank you

I'm experiencing the effects from chemo this time last year so I'm real short on attention span most of the time, the way you said how you marked the roller bearing so you'd have it right when you put it together had me feeling like I was watching a card trick trying to pay attention to what side was up. After you flipped the thing over a few times, I didn't know if I wanted chocolate or strawbe..wait, what was I talking about? Oh yea, I had to watch that part, I lost count but it was a bunch! Now I can move forward then backwards then forward I think, thank you again for the video tutorials.

Fantastically useful video series. I have watched all 8 to date and throughly enjoyed them. I have to say however, that considering your incredible attention to detail, I am surprised that you re-use big end bolts and nuts? Triumph along with most manufactures designed their big end bolts to stretch once only. I was taught that it is bad practice to re-use big end bolts and nuts for the sake of just replacing very cheap parts versus the catastrophic consequences of their failure ?

One trick when you're torqueing the rod nuts: After assembling the rod cap to the rod and hand-tightening the nuts, check the rod side clearance between the rod big end side and the crank cheek. Then place this thickness feeler gauge under the side of the rod that will be 'twisted' toward the crank cheek when tightening. This will prevent the rod bearings from being 'cocked' against the crank pin when you're tightening the nuts to torque. I use a feeler under both sides because I'm anal, but one as above works fine as well.

    • @michaelszczys8316

Yes, that sounds like good idea. 28 lbs. of torque against the bearings doesn’t sound healthy.
